“Going back in Time-Our First Victory - Lapu-Lapu conquers Magellan.”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

I could not help but stare in awe when I saw the historical marker - the exact place where Magellan was killed by Lapu-lapu. At that early, our forefathers valued so much their freedom, just as we do today. Lapu-lapu's giant monument captures the essence of the place ---towering over the place and a very clear view of the bay and the waters surrounding it. No doubt in my mind, Magellan and his men stood no chance of overpowering the natives and Lapu-lapu. The place is clean and has some stalls selling souvenir items at reasonable price and accessible by public transportation. For the effort, I rate it excellent for its historical and aesthetic value.

It was near to our hotel so that was the saving grace. Really didn't see the attraction of this place. Nothing really to see

“A brief interlude in a Cebu city tour.”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

It is of limited historical and religious interest and will occupy about 5 minutes of your time with another 15 minutes trying to escape the attention of overpriced souvenir vendors looking for gullible foreigners.

“historical shrine”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

The structure is found inside the Mactan Shrine, the same place where the Lapu-Lapu shrine is situated. a well-kept tower with historical significance in the country, built in honor of Ferdinand Magellan. no entrance fee is required. I guess visitors should just be disciplined enough to keep the surroundings clean by not throwing their garbage around.
