we have been to the Lawana escape resort already twice for a stay of some days. We enjoyed it and shall come back. The location is not on the beach, but near the river, where it is going into the sea, so if you really want to swim in the sea, it is not a place for you. But they have a pleasant swimming pool, from which you can overlook the really lifely traffic on the river. Pranburi has a quite big fishing harbour. So you can see the colourful fishing boats passing by. Also from the restaurant you have this nice view on the river. The hotel is providing bicycles to explore the surroundings. There is a very interesting mangrove park just 10 minutes from the resort with a trail, that brings you in the middle of the mangrove forest.
To go to the other side of the river you have either to rent a boat or taxi, or, which is the most convenient, have your own car. It takes about 15 minutes to drive there.
The restaurant in the hotel has nice food with reasonable prices. The selection is not very big, but if you tell them in advance, that you want to have some special seafood for lunch or dinner, they will prepare it for you.
The rooms are simple but clean. They have TV with only local programs. Since the traffic on the river starts early morning already, you might better take a bungalow not too close to the river. But other than the noise from the fishing boats it is a very quiet place.
We recommend this place to people who travel on their own, best with own car, who love a quiet not too fancy place to relax for some days...

We spent a night at the resort's pool villa (Baht 3,700 per night), and were very disappointed with its design and services. The sliding door doesn't work and fall apart after I tried to open it. The maintenance staff came to our room to fix it but failed to do so, so we slept through the night with the door unlocked. Services in the resort is very limited, and the only thing that it has to offer is a medium size pool close to the lobby.

Breakfast is relatively poor considering the price that we paid. Their American Breakfast includes 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 toasts, 1 cup of instant coffee, and a glass of orange juice.

One good thing: It's close to the Sirinath Rajini Center, a study centre of mangrove forest. It's open to public for free (8:30 am - 4:30 pm). There is a Chinese temple near the resort, and it's worth stopping by for pictures. It's situated on top of a hill and has a beautiful sceneries of the mangrove, residential areas, and sea.
