Stayed 3 nights over the New Year period. Room was clean. Nice design/style. Nice pool. Close to beach. However, all the niceties are only skin deep. Beneath the surface the hotel was terrible - racist and ignorant (Thai) staff, slow service and poor management/organization.

We got lost trying to find the place. Once we arrived, we tried to inform the staff about a very confusing road sign, where we ended up taking a wrong turn. Absolutely no reaction from the staff.

We were assigned a room on 3rd floor (no lifts!). I was accompanied by my parents who, due to their age, have difficulty climbing up and down stairs. However, staff refused to move us to a lower floor even though we could see there were several empty rooms. Staff claimed that most guests would be checking in the next day - so why not move us today and give the new guests our room on the 3rd floor? The staff have absolutely no sense of service.

The hotel organized a New Year's Eve party, but really should not have bothered. The whole night lacked any sense of organization and there was a tonne of food that went to waste. The "entertainment" was one member of staff trying desperately to get guests to volunteer to sing or dance. She then proceeded to make several remarks (in Thai) about how she would rather give the prizes to Thai people and not foreigners and made a very out-dated (and incorrect) assumption that the "farang" in the audience did not speak Thai.

Upon checkout, we tried to ask for a receipt, but staff tried to discourage us and were informed that we would have to wait some time to get the receipt. Why? Possibly they avoid documentation in order to save on taxes.

Don't waste your time, especially when there are so many other resorts nearby.

Stayed here as the first stop of our grasshopper adventures bike ride down to Ko Samui/Ko Tao.

When we arrived, we were greeted with cold towels and a nice, cold grape juice....such a nice touch.
Overall great experience was great. Literally just a stone throw away from the beach. The area is quiet and quaint.

Our room package included breakfast and it was delish.

The reason I put "very good" as opposed to "great" is because of the bathroom.
The room had a safe, closet, nice and clean room and bed. The bathroom seem to need a little attention. It was painted crimson red, but it didn't look like they did a great job at painting it. The shower was small and short with paint bleeding into the tub and various places around the bathroom.
As for as expectations go...I know I shouldn't expect 5 star luxury in the middle of nowhere (at least that what I felt like), but they could have done a better job with attention to detail.

We stayed Dec 27-30 and will certainly go back. We had our own transport but it is easy to get around without, if you feel the need. A six km beach right in front, with mountains and islands to look at and a national park 10 min away. Anchana offers very nice rooms and friendly staff, make sure you book with an online discount. Breakfast was fine and so too the restaurant food. We have stayed at another hotel 200 meters away but would come back here from choice.

Room tip: The garden rooms are bigger and quieter

I want to relax and my friend choose this place. We didn't try a restaurant it's near a swimming pool but they said guarantee from somethings. Breakfast is fine close at 10am although we still sit in there, they still serve.

Only 2 staff for spa, don't forget to make an appointment.

Room tip: Villa is good

We get there by bus from Bangkok, a ride of  3h15.  We stop at PranBuri and took a taxi from there for 200bath (we had to negociate) for a 30 min ride.  But a nice ride !!  And We took the minibus to go back to bangkok after our stay (300bath per person).

Very nice and quiet stay.  The staff was marvelous, very friendly even if they don't speak a world of English (except one at the reception). There is always someone at the reception to help.  They are smiley.

This place is not touristic, surprising !  The beach is so beautiful and HUGE !  Thai people visit this place on weekend and leave, so from Monday to Friday, I think we were alone in the hotel !  So quiet, the pool and the beach all for ourself, it was amazing.  Even if we were alone, there was plenty of staff.

The room, we had a villa, is comfortable.  Hot water in the shower.  Very clean. Good wifi except restricted site (trip advisor or expedia, good luck to have access to it...).  The vegetation all around is amazing.  Flowers smell so good.  Careful of mosquito, they bite, ouch!

Many other hotel around so you can try the restaurants of those hotel. The food was good everywhere. There was a good choice of DVD a the reception.
