Having stayed at A Soneva property our expectations were high. The boutique feel we were expecting was not quite there. The service was great, the Thai restaurant and Beach restaurant fabulous. The food around the pool not so great. The spa was wonderful. Though it seemed less cookie cutter than Hua Hin, somehow there was something missing. Nonetheless if your going to Bangkok and want a good relaxing break--- this is a safe bet.

Room Tip: take a pool villa

This is a property I will definitely go back to. Classic Thai hospitality, but that is not why I will go back. If you are looking for a quite, relaxing holiday with family, away from the hustle bustle and commercialisation of typical resorts, this is the place to be. You wake up to many exotic birds chirping, its pure music. It is a resort which promotes peace & calm. Everything is organic and nature driven. ...right upto the bottled water, which is not mineral water. Cycling inside the property, morning walks along the coastline, brilliant breakfasts & dinners. All calm. Perfect for kids too...with kids club, awesome rooms, wonderful infinity swimming pools, superb service. I was checking and this time I didnt hear a "no" on anything from the staff. Ofcourse if you want the hustle bustle, there is lots just a 30 min drive away...a water park "Black mountain", elephant safari, very cheap motorbike hires, water sports, deep sea fishing etc etc. Quality time spent with the wife and the kid, like never before. Top recommendation from some one who is well travelled across Asia Pacific. Many people told me its 30 mins away from Huahin city, but i still went since I had strong recommendations from friends. When I reached there, I knew why it was great.

Room Tip: Pool villas are better when you start comparing.

Its been almost 2m Months that i am back from this place, and i so badly want to go there again.
It is not just the resort. its the place.

undoubtedly the resort is brilliant with a amazing pool, very good bar and live music in evenings, friendly staffs. It has everything you are looking for. The only thing missing is a sandy beach which you will not miss that much.

The place pranburi is brilliant. Its not crowded at all. just rent a bike and all day keep driving along the beach and with brilliant roadside restaurants.

i Just cant wait to go this this place again.

Room Tip: The evason rooms are Ok types. studio rooms or pool villas is recomended.

If you are looking for a relaxation aways from the tourist crowds, hawkers and fake clothes salesmen of Hua Hin - this is your place. The resort is located on quiet beach (not swimmable) in Pak Nam Pram with some other resorts along the beach. The mix of clients is really heterogenous in nationalities (Thai, English, Nordics, German, French even some Arabs), very middle-aged (which suited us well), not too many small children at the time we stayed.

The hotel is rustic by design, and quite likeable for a holiday. We stayed in studio which had a bunk bed for our children (7 and 10 years). Food is good in the resort (moderately priced for European but expensive for Thai prices). Kieng Sah is a nice setting but unfortunately very average Thai food, walk few hundred meeters out of the hotel and you'll find local restaurants with better food (like "The Very Good Restaurant" southwards). There is also Noodle Bar (very cheap), Mediterian and Bar menu in the resort. Most of the evenings they also host a bbq which was fine too.

They also arrange excursions to nearby places, for example the Cave Temple was great and they have a good guides too. Also you can enjoy Spa, Tennis within the resort. For golf the nearest courses are 45minutes away, but definately worth a visit (like Black Mountain Golf).

Only complaint I have is about the schedules and logistics. Sometimes the schedules for different activites changed and did not keep to the promises (like Yoga, Just Kids etc.). Also I had trouble with my golf transportation. Otherwise highly recomennded.

Dear krdn-ctlr

Thank you for your review and delighted that you enjoyed your stay.
Apologies for the confusion on the activities schedule - we will work this out and thank you for letting me know.
The same goes for the transportation to the golf courses - as a keen golfer myself, I will make sure to suggest the courses that can be reached within 20 to 30 minutes from us.
Please come back and see us and maybe we can enjoy a round together next time you visit.

We stayed at the Evason having spent a week in Chang Mai as a relaxing week by the beach finish to our trip to Thailand.

The hotel is on the coast but not on the beach - they are doing large coastal stabilisation work which means that the front is a string of gabions stretching for several miles. The infinity pool at the hotel is great and gives you a sense of being close to the beach but no opportunity to venture into the sea.

The hotel is about 2 miles from Pad Nam Kram a major fishing port which is lively and needless to say has good fish restaurants. Closer to the hotel local restaurants are more limited but good and inexpensive

The hotel bar and restaurants serve good food but compared to local prices are high. The staff as with most places in Thailand are helpful, attentive and friendly.

The Evason is not a plush marble based 4* but more of an up market eco place so not for the ultra polished resort lovers but close enough to local Thailand to allow you to get out but still have some comforts to come home to.

The General Manger is English!

Room Tip: We stayed in a standard hotel room which was well proportioned and had all you need. The garden vill...

Thank you for your informative review and pleased to see that you enjoyed the resort as well as experiencing some of the authentic local atmosphere and experiences around the resort.

My apologies though, as I do have to correct you as the GM is Welsh (not English), but do not let that put you off visiting again - or anyone else for the matter!

My family and I are just got back from weekend get away in Hua Hin. We were looking for a quiet, peaceful and high standard of service place to stay so we chose Evason and that we never regret what we had.
The property is beautiful. Very green and quiet even the hotel was almost full but you don't feel uncomfortable.
We spent most of the time at the pool, the pool staff are all taking very good care of all guest. They even clean your sunglasses while your hands and face full of sunscreen. These service was an extra mile that I would not expect hotel staff to do so.
The hotel provides great breakfast selection from Western to Asian including vegetarian.
We would like to thanks Khun Surapee and Khun Lom whom looks after us well during our stay. We can't wait for our next visit.

We planned our NYE beach trip during the last minute and as many of the hotels were already full, we came across Evason Hua Hin. It is further down from Chaam and Huahin beaches but this hotel does not have its own beach. There is a road sandwiched between the resort and the beach. The reception is nice, with a lot of greenery. However we saw a rat running behind the desks at the reception. This kind of put us off. The rooms are cozy with a nice outdoor lounging bed. Pool is big and has ample of beach chairs around it. Breakfast was pretty great. The spread was huge and had various interesting options such as a Thai noodle station and a big range of breads and jams (lemongrass jam - yum). The huge day beds above the bar are a must for lounging around while having tea/coffee. Overall it was a pleasant stay!
