Tried this place purely on our experiences a couple of years ago at six senses in the Maldives. Heavy flooding in Bangkok made getting there something of an adventure but the transport arrangements were excellent. This property is amazing, we stayed in Villa 12 and it was beautiful - understated luxury with our own plunge pool, courtyard, external deck and open bathroom overlooking the courtyard. The gardens are beautiful, the food expensive but high quality and the breakfast location surrounded by lily ponds a highlight. Staff were excellent - service standards very high. The cons - no real beach to speak off outside the resort - just a tiny strip of sand and rocks at low tide, although better beaches further up and down the coast. Don't bother with the snorkeling trip to Koh Talu - an expensive waste of a day. An enterprising local has decided to turn the guest transfers to and from this island (it has accommodation) into a tourist trap. Poorly organised - when we arrived the boat was stuck in the lagoon as the tide was low and it took them an hour to drag it out over the sand - a good effort by the crew. Then a beach entry through a one meter shore dump - incredibly dangerous and we did not enjoy getting wet up to the armpits in our street clothes boarding the boat. We had swimming costumes and could have...Tried this place purely on our experiences a couple of years ago at six senses in the Maldives. We had swimming costumes and could have changed but it only became apparent at the last minute that we were not going to use the wharf some way up the beach. OK, I am a diver and so far just a bit of an adventure. When we arrived at the island we wanted to go snorkeling - not possible until we had eaten lunch. Lunch what would go for poor quality pub food in Australia, then finally in the water for snorkeling or so we thought. No not yet, waiting for another boat, then onto that boat when it arrived than all off and a wait - finally out on a barge into the bay and nothing but dead coral for as far as you could swim. Barge moved to the other side of the bay - coral a little better but not much - and only one hour in the water, by which time it was mercifully time to leave. We all got on board for the return at the appointed hour - waited for thirty minutes or so before we got off and out of the stifling heat. We waited another hour in the heat - no water offered or no explanation just no skipper! Finally it became apparent we were waiting for another boat which was bringing fuel for the return trip - what a disorganised mess. Something like a three hour transfer to go to a pretty poor quality island by Thai standards and snorkel over dead coral. Not what we expect of a tour organised through SIx Senes. We mentioned it to our girl Friday in passing - and ended up with her boss and the guest relations manager looking us up over the next two days to aplogise. Notwithstanding the apologies - and the free BBQ night offered as compensation ( and for which we did not ask ) if this trip is still being offered through the tour desk give it a big miss. This trip is way below the quality you would expect for this property.More
