great resort for young children

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 4, 2012
First of all, this is a place that we definitely want to come back after stayed in the private pool villa for three nights. Our two children, aged 4 and 7, both loved the place, and can spend the whole day in the pools.

The breakfast is great, really high quality of pastry and a large selection of cereals, dry fruits, yogurt, and jam. My only complain is the limited and dull selection of fresh fruits. Exotic tropical fruits that you see in the markets are no where to be found here.

The pools, public or the private pool are great, the water is very clean. The big public pool indeed are two pools, one deep and one shallow. I felt very comfortable to leave the kids in the latter one when I read books on the chairs nearby.

The room and especially the private backyard are perfect for a romantic getaway for a couples. There are two shower heads and the size of the bathtub is more than enough for two and the lighting is absolutely beautiful in the night. There are a day bed which is big enough for our two kids sleep in the night. They also had as much fun in the private pool and the bathtub as in the big pools. However, I don't recommend staying in the private pool villa with children younger than 2.

The entire promises are very beautifully designed, tranquil with numerous lilly ponds, including one in the bathroom near the pool, and the place never felt being crowded. The resort also did a quite good job control the mosquitoes, but do not forget to bring you own repellent. There is a very nice library room that has two computers with internet connection. There are free wifi by the pool and in the bar so that you are not completely cut-off from the real world. However, the internet connection through the wifi would drop off after 20-30 minutes and you need to wait a while for it to work again. The kid's zone is quite far away and you need ask the hotel to take you there and back on the extended golf carts. The restaurants on the premises are reasonably priced and of high quality, there is even a wood burning brick oven for pizza making. Another big plus is that they have a decent kid menu.

The beach is only accessible in the morning during low tide, but the upside is that ocean is only decorated with some anchored fishing boats, making the view much more relaxing than those busy beaches.

I am not giving it a 5 as some of its service can be improved. We were waiting at the ice cream parlor for more than 5 minutes and had to ask several people before being served, although at the time there are many staff in the nearby bar that are not busy at all. Finally someone told the lady at the activity booth that she should help us, but she found that there are not enough ice cream left and told us to get the ice cream from the bar. When we went to the bar, instead of simply giving us the ice cream there (and there are plenty there), strangely the waitress at the bar went back to the parlor and brought the ice cream she scraped from the bottom of the box, and we have to go back to the parlor for the topping. In addition, we were also disappointed when told by the lady at the activity booth that we can not borrow the bicycles as the guy already went home at 6 pm.

Dear keyblue,

Thank you very much indeed for your recent comments, it really was a pleasure to read and I'm glad the entire family had a great time! It sounds like you are bringing up some water babies though in the bathtub or the pools all day! Fantastic!

You will be pleased to know that we have recently upgraded our public wifi in the public areas and now guests can surf with speeds between 8-10MB.

Sorry to hear about the incidents you had with the icecreams and LIFE desk, I have already brought this to their attention.

So we will be waiting for your next visit so that we can get that last star out of you!!

With very best regards,

Jamie Crisp

We are staying in Pool Villa at Evason. The room is clean and well-decorated. Also, private pool and outdoor jacuzzi are clean and amazing. The service is excellent as well.
There's free body massage and stream for every guest. Overall, I recommend for vacation.
Thumb up for it :-)

Dear Paulsukei,

Thank you for your comments! I totally agree with you about the pool and breakfast! I too love our breakfast and think it's one of the best in town. Everything is freshly prepared or baked on property and there is nothing more enjoyable than a coffee and a fresh croissant to start the day! I would love to say that I have time for the pool but sadly I have an office suntan from my PC!

Come visit us again.

Got a great deal on private pool villa, probably since it was wet season. Perfect size and layout of room and pool/garden. The included breakfast was amazing, with huge selections available. Noodle bar had some excellent tasty & cheap thai dishes for those who don't want to spend a lot on food.

I found the staff to be wonderful on all accounts. Smiling and helpful in every way. I did get a bit tired of being greeted by everyone all the time, but I got away with a smile and nod in reply, rather than a wai. ;)

As someone else mentioned, I didn't get everything in my room replaced immediately, but with the vast amount of amenities, I can understand that it's hard to see to all the little things. When I began placing items I wanted restocked on the mini-bar, it was taken care of.

My one small complaint would be regarding drinking water. Some days it would come with housekeeping in the morning, some times not until turn down late evening, or after I called room service several times asking for it. Some times I only got two bottles, other times four. With the heat, I'd appreciated predictability with drinking water replenishment.

Dear Castrella,

Thank you very much for writing about your recent stay with us. I'm very happy to read your review. Don't think I've had a comment that people are 'too friendly' before!
I have already passed your comments to housekeeping about the replenishing of items and it has been noted so thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Hope you'll make it back our way again in the near future!

This hotel does not have the secluded atmosphere as you would expect from a Six Senses resort. Villa's are really nice and connecting villa's are available if you are travelling with kids. The beach is a bit of a disappointment as apparently hotels in this area are not allowed to have a private beach. This means the beach is totally empty. No beach beds/umbrella's etc. You'll need to cross a small public road with some traffic to get to the beach. We enjoyed the big pool, comfortable villa, great food and friendly Thai people. I highly recommend taking a boat trip to Brassiere Beach and have lunch at the boutique hotel there. The activities for teens are limited to tennis, soccer and volleyball. There are small shops along the public road where you'll be able to rent mopeds and quad bikes.
Honestly, if you are a beach person you'll be better off in Phuket or Koh Samui.

Dear gotravelwithkids,

Thank you for your recent review. I'm sorry to hear that you felt let down by the beach. We do not advertise that there is a beach although our pool faces straight out onto the seafront. If you do hire mopeds or take a bicycle for the day with a picnic, you can find some stunning stretches of beach just a few kilomotres from the hotel. You have commented about private beaches and in fact I have to point out that no beaches in Thailand are private, they are all in fact public. It will all come down to the location of each hotel, if they are in a secluded bay for example.

Hope you managed to get out to the WaterPark nearby as I am sure this would have kept your teens very happy!

With very best regards,
