We were on one of the first flights to be cancelled due to the volcanic ash cloud and after spending almost 24 hours in the airport were told to find a hotel until UK airspace reopened.

We went to an awful hotel, spent a couple of hours there and promptly went on the internet to find something nicer. We came across the Best Western & booked for two nights. When we arrived we were so pleased with our initial impressions. It wasn't in a particularly pleasant area (more industrial) but then it's an airport hotel (approx 15 min drive away on the hotel's free shuttle bus). There were a couple of 7/11s nearby for supplies. It had a lovely big spacious lobby, the reception staff were very helpful & spoke excellent English. They showed us to our room which was large with a queen-sized double bed, flat screen tv, A/C, bath, kettle, complimentary toiletries & balcony. It was extremely clean and we were very pleased after what had been a nightmare of a previous day.

There was a pool with sun beds (you had little chance of getting a sun bed but this was because the hotel was full of stranded Europeans like ourselves with little to do all day) plus a small bar area serving drinks & food. We only ate once at the buffet restaurant but what we had was good. Room service was also good and reasonably priced too. There was also free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, a fitness centre & sauna.

Due to the lack of flights we ended up staying there for 6 nights, after the first two they actually lowered our room rate by 500BHTS which we thought was extremely good of them when we were seeing on the news that hoteliers all over the world were taking advantage of the situation & increasing their rates. They even laid on a couple of free trips (nothing exciting but it got people out a bit).

All in all we would recommend this hotel to anybody, clean, well-located for the airport with very helpful & accommodating staff.

We stayed here for one week, after spending the previous week in a hotel nearer the centre of Bangkok. Having stayed in Best Western Hotels in UK (at twice the price), my expectations weren't high, but this hotel is in a different league altogether. The rooms are well planned, with relaxing decor, and air conditioning which is easy to control. I loved the shower which had a choice of shower heads. Free internet access and safe were a bonus. The hotel grounds are small, but well laid out. We ate in the restaurant each night, so were able to sample a variety of dishes from different sections of the menu, all of which were delicious. The staff were always very helpful and considerate.
We were not sightseeing, so I haven't scored location. We had no problems using taxis for the journeys we needed to make in Bangkok, and used the hotel's transport for transit to the airport.

We had originally booked a hotel in centre of Bangkok but because of demonstration problems and the fact we were not impressed when we stayed in centre for one night when we first arrived in Thailand we cancelled the booking and looked for hotel near airport because we arrived from Phuket about 4.00 pm and were not flying back to UK until midnight the following day. We got this hotel from the internet and paid £50 for bed and breakfast. The hotel was excellent. Very clean and the room was fabulous. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and it was so good we decided to eat again the following night. We were able to keep the room until 6pm so spent the day round the pool which was fantastic and because the hotel was mainly used as a stop off for airport we had the pool area to ourselves for the whole day. It was about 20 mins drive from airport and hotel had free courtesy bus. There was also no aircraft noise to disturb us.
