Let me start by saying that I know that accommodation in this part of the country is expensive. However we were terribly disappointed by our experience here. For over US$100 per night per person we expected much more. First, our reservation was mixed up and we didn't get the family room that we had reserved, instead we were put in two doubles. Second, the food was mediocre at best. They ran out of some items at dinner (there were only about 10 people staying that night), and the morning breakfast consisted of cold eggs and greasy, cold bacon by the time it arrived at our table. Third, the rooms themselves were dirty. Not just dusty (to be expected in this area) but dirty, mouldy, and grimy. Fourth, the "waterhole" is, in fact, a 1mx1m goldfish pond that was visited by a few birds and 3 springbok while we were there. Fifth, the winds brought a terrible smell of pig (or chicken or sheep?) manure for the whole time we were there. I know this is a working farm, but this was horrible and we couldn't walk far or go outside without the stench sending us back into the room. Sixth, the design of the facility was similar to a 1950s motel in North America. The photos on the website make it look like a "guest ranch" but it is, in fact, a very average motel. Finally, the staff were very aloof and not helpful at all when we asked questions. So our experience at Weltevrede was very, very different than the rest of the postings here. I was expecting so much more for the money as this was one of the more expensive places we had stayed at in Namibia. But it just didn't deliver.

We stayedat Weltevrede Guest Farm in July with our three kids aged 5, 9 and 11. Weenyoyed the friendly staff and the way our children were made to feel at homeimmediately. The Guest Farm itself is located beautifully between Sossuvlei andSolitaire, on a spot which is worth visiting on its own. We made a beautifulhike to the mountains and waterhole behind the Farm and the children enyoyedthe animals on the farm very much. The private terrace, with open view on theNamib desert is very comfortable. Opening your curtains in the morning andfinding wild game 10 meters in front of your window is very special! The tripto Sossusvlei is beautifull and it's easy to arrive there at openingtime of thegate. The staff prepared a very completebreakfast and lunch package which was excellent.

Very goodbase to visit Sossusvlei and the Naukluft reserve!

Room Tip: all rooms face the desert in a slight semi circle so it doesn't matter which room you have, the...

We stayed at Weltevrede before, this time only 2 nights. We were unpleasantly suprised the first night by a large group of noisy guests with a bunch of loud kids. But this didn't spoil our stay. The second night was how we are used to at Weltevrede; nice and peacefull surrondings, enjoying a sundowner, nice food and a quick jump in the cold poolwater.
Great value for money. The rooms are clean but starting to feel a little outdated.
Weltevrede offers early breakfast and nice take away lunch packages to take with when making a tour.

We loved our stay at Weldevrede! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the environment is relaxing and well cared for. Our room was also quite warm, even on a cold winter's night, which was a pleasant surprise. The dinner was excellent, and they even packed us a breakfast pack to take along to Sossusvlei. The location is great if you're going to Sossusvlei as well.

surrounded by a desertscape is this beautiful oasis run by andre and his very lovely and hospitable wife marletta. spacious, well laid out rooms adorn this resort along with a pool and self service bar whichis unheard of. Dinner is divine and using this place as a base for sesriem and sosousvlei makes the whole experience extra-special. Look out for the lit watering hole as well as fire pit by the bar which is a great place to sit with your cold Windhoek beer and write up yoru travel notes

We really enjoyed our stay at Weldevrede. There is a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere so you can really feel at ease. We particularly liked the honesty bar which gave you the freedom to help yourself and feel at home.
Rooms were spacious, clean and simply furnished with air con. We had our own private terrace overlooking the water hole and saw a mix of springbok in the evening and hoards of birds in the early morning which was quite a spectacle.
The food was very good (both dinner and breakfast), unfortunately we missed the afternoon cake as we were out and about!
We used the Weldevrede as a base to visit Sossusvlei. Good value for money

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water hole

Remote location, excellent camp facilities - private WC/shower block, BBQ area, electric hook up, tap, small outdoor pool and great staff. Small curio shop at reception. Small number of individual camp sites so recommend you book. Ate in the restaurant which was fine.
