“Location is its best AND worst asset”

Lovely people, very hospitable, rooms very pretty and comfortable. Breakfast one of the best and elaborate we had in Greece (the dark bread is absolutely devine, best bread we had in a long time).

Now the tricky part:
You must realize that Mykonos is among the most crowded of the islands and also the first island we visited that really showed it was a touristy place (littered, cars, scooters and quads everywhere, etc.). Young people with no experience driving scooters and quads racing along every road you travel.
Vana Holidays is located a few kilometers south of Mykonos town, it lies against a rock wall and the pool and hotel look out over a windy bay, where surfers do their thing all day long (lovely sight, btw). Every room has a porch overlooking the bay and every guest can enjoy an absolutely beautiful sunset every night; breathtaking really. Also very quiet area (hard to find in Mykonos).
It is very isolated and it is just possible (though not advisable) to walk to Ornos on the road (no sidewalks). This means you really need a form of transportation. We rented a car and drove everywhere, however the roads a often very steep and sometimes we had to turn off the AC to get enough power to climb a hill (most of the rental cars are small Pandas and Micras). And the road up the hotel is the steepest of all (with sharp turns) all the way to the Parking of the hotel . Let's say it is not for the fainthearted. My husband is an excellent, experienced driver and he was not happy driving up here.

So again, be warned about the location: lovely view, quiet, beautiful sunset, but also very hard to reach, isolated and driving is a challenge !

From the momment we were picked up at the Port to the momment we were dropped off at the aiport to return home the family did everything they could to make our stay a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

The rooms were beautifully finished with AC, WiFi, TV etc. Both rooms were finished to a high standard and linen and towels changed daily. Toiletries were provided even though we brought our own. The rooms were fully double glazed which meant a sound nights sleep despite the road below.
Breakfast was plentiful and varied and my husband pleasantly surprised to find egg, bacon and sausages available together with a range of fruit, yoghurt breads and pastries etc.
We all enjoyed the pool with its view of the bay and pool towels were provided.
The family were lovely and at times we felt almost embarrassed at the amount of times we were in the car being ferried to either town or Ornos.
We enjoyed many a late afternoon/early evening with a glass of wine sat on our terrace watching the windsurfers in the bay and the ferries in and out of Mykonos Town.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to go to Mykonos as the service is as good as we have ever experienced in Europe and always delivered with a broad smile.

Room Tip: \we had 2 sea facing rooms and would recommend paying the extra as there was always something to see...

I can only echo what everyone has said about Vana Holidays so I won't go into too much detail. You feel welcomed every time you see the family who run the hotel. It is clean, well maintained and has beautiful views. It can get quite windy at night as the place is on a hill and the shutters banging against the wall did keep us up.

The downside for us was the location. We did not hire any transportation so we relied on the kindness of the family to drive us into town or Ornos. However getting back was always a hassle. No public bus, getting a taxi is near impossible and you do have to walk on the road alongside the cars, scooters and quads. It is not a pleasant walk either because it is dirty and you have to deal with all sorts of drivers. If there was a nice path to the town or Ornos, it would make for a perfect holiday as Vana Holiday itself is fantastic!

This is a wonderful place, tucked away a few km from Mykonos and reasonably close to Ornos. It's off the beaten track but I think that's a good thing - and the owners are happy to pick you up at the airport and get you settled in. In our case they helped us rent a scooter which was helpful to get around the small island (I also noticed they took guests places if they felt uncomfortable driving - and I was humbled that they refused my offer of a tip when they dropped us off at the ferry port when we left).

This is family run, and they keep the place spotless! The rooms are very spacious and it looked like they all have a little balcony that looks over a bay (ours did) - giving a great view of the sunset and the occasional kite surfer. There is also small swimming pool that overlooks the same bay - it's a little old but I didn't mind, particularly as it was just what I needed for a quick plunge after a day's sightseeing - and they helpfully left out a stack of poolside towels so you didn't have to worry about one. If you really want to swim, the beach in Ornos (quite close) is lovely. Not too crowded, and some nice restaurants as well.

In summary, this a simple family owned hotel, the owners are very kind and they will look after you. It's also excellent value for money. It may not be a spot for a romantic weekend - but it's a great base for a wonderful holiday.

I have just spent a week at this wonderful family hotel. What a wonderful place to stay - mainly due to the warm and friendly family who run it. They could not do enough to make us feel at home and were happy to take us to town or the beach at Ornos whenever we wanted to go there (they are not on the bus route). Our rooms were so clean and the towels were changed every day - something we did not expect. They were very happy for us to bring in our own food and even bought us a kettle and some mugs when requested. They gave us good advice about which beach to visit depending on the wind, and Ninetta even took us to a shop in Mykonos to buy a skirt we admired on her - and got us a good price! For the rate we paid, the service was unbelievable! We felt a part of their family and were very sad to say goodbye to them.

My wife and I spent four lovely nights at the Vana hotel earlier this month. The best thing I can say is to echo the comments of the two previous reviewers who basically said it all. Spotless well equipped accommodation run by a fantastic family who simply could not do enough to ensure you had a great time. Everywhere we went we were offered lifts, nothing seemed too much trouble. A truely delightful place.

What you get here is very good service from a lovely family. The room was comfortable and reasonably priced, and there are lots of outside areas to sit and eat, as there seems to be no objection to you bringing back your own food and drink, on what is a very expensive island. The pool was lovely too and an added bonus. The only downside is that it is a 20 minute walk along a busy and dirty road into town ,although Ornos is nearer in the opposite direction. We will probably not go back as we did not like the island, but I would certainly recommend this place for anybody who does like it, or is transiting through.
