“Best Relaxing Family Holiday for Young & Old”
Reviewed April 22, 2010

We stayed at the Warwick with our 18 month daughter as well as our extended family for my birthday. What a fantastic place and an unforgettable holiday! Beautiful.

I had previously stayed at the Sheraton at Denarau for business and the Warwick was so much better especially for families. Because of its location (over an hour away from Nadi airport), the in house activities are very good and we didn't need to travel away from the resort. We took our daughter on the glass bottom boat, my husband went coral reef fishing and we participated in the evening culture shows. All suitable for all ages.

Our family stayed in three rooms, which were supposed to be adjoining. There was an overbooking when we arrived so for one room we were lucky to be upgraded to a two room suite, which was fantastic as it served as "headquarters" for our large group. All rooms were overlooking the pool on the quiet side of the resort. The rooms were beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and doted on our little girl.

Our holiday package included all meals so we were very well fed. The buffet breakfasts were huge, lunches at the poolside cafe delicious and themed buffet dinners added variety. We dined at the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant on my birthday and while it wasn't that authentically Japanese, it was superb anyway. My sister and mother ordered a cake for my birthday which was one of the best cakes I had ever had - simply delicious!

The resort was spacious and the gardens were well established and well maintained. It was a little too hot to play tennis, but we had a go at the "Crazy golf" putt putt which is primarily in the shade. We hired a car a traveled to Sigatoka and an animal sanctuary for minor groceries and cheaper priced souvenirs as the resort was a little pricey (not bad though). A hire car is recommended as the resort is quite a distance from major attractions.

Overall such a wonderful holiday. We would definitely go back again. Next time our daughter will be old enough for the kid's club. That looked like fun!

Wonderful people, very relaxed and friendly. You do have to slow down and relax. The resort is a bit far away from things, but we went on a 30km (return) jet ski to The Castaway Island and that was wicked. We also went on a tour and did the Zip Locking in the jungle which was great! The resort is very romantic and has lots of thing to do during the day. They have a band at night and the bars are great. The restaurants are wonderful and the food is delicious. The staff in the restaurants are supurb. We had a very romantic relaxing but went out and sorced our own fun only to come back to one of the prettiest resorts we have been in. Loved it...

I stayed here in March 2010 and was planning to stay 3 nights but ended up here for a couple more nights due to cyclone Tomas and not being able to get to my next destination in Suva. The warwick is about 1.5 hours drive from Nadi airport and is certainly impressive to loook at It's a big resort with a large lobby area and bars and rooms off that. They have several bars and restaurants, a couple of small shops, 2 pools a gym and spa. The room itself was pretty good - the bathroom had a lovely big shower and was nice and clean. The downside was the size of the rooom - I thought it was quite small and didn't really have enough room for our things. We were on the quieter Suva Wing which I was happy about. We used the Suva Wing Pool as opposed to the Nadi one which had a swim up bar. Its good that they can cater for different crowds in their 'pool scene' as we wouldn't have liked the noisier Nadi Pool every day. I thought the food was ok - nothing special. Probably the most dissapointing restaurant was the Italian - there weren't that many people seated there but service was incredibly slow and various waiters kept coming up to us asking for our order etc even though we had already done this - so it seemed a little disorganised. The Spa was quite good - I had an appointment there but they had double booked me with someone else and the other lady was told to come back the next day but my treatment was nice. Gym was pretty good although you have to pay to use this. The small beach is ok - the sand is nice and the water warm but because of the cyclone we didn't try and swimming or snorkelling so can't comment on this. To be honest we were only there a few days and although we generally enjoyed it, we weren't 'wowed' by it and were getting a little bored of the food, bars and the scene there after 4 nights. I probably wouldn't go back as I'd like to try somewhere else next but I think it's fine to stay here for a couple of days and it would be quite enjoyable.

If you enjoy being covered in honey and then tied to an anthill, this is the place for you. Our initial enthusiasm on arrival at the beautiful grounds and exquisite setting waned remarkably fast when we realised that the 100 or so bags lining the entrance were not for people leaving but for those who had arrived and had not been allocated rooms. Our wait involved 4.5 hours of sitting around before being shown to our room, shoddy service at lunch from officious staff, incorrect orders delivered, below average food even at their best restaurant and a manager who hid in the office after he had fobbed off irate guests about their rooms.
We were due to spend 4 nights there but checked out as soon as we could the following morning unfortunately forgoing our all expenses paid idyllic trip- a reward for the hard work my partner has done for the last year. This is hardly an incentive.
The place was overbooked by 70 guests, and while it is definitely a kid friendly resort it is also a place where overindulged adults were sick all down the passages. I am not sure who their target audience is but I do know that it is not me.
If you like holidays teeming with children in overcrowded facilities, being ignored or barked at by staff then this is the place for you, otherwise avoid it at all costs.

We spent 4 nights at the Warwick with a 5yr old during the Easter school holidays. There are aspects about the Warwick that make it good for families but there were also quite a few unpleasant things during our stay.
It seems amazing that hotels can be badly oversold in an age of internet bookings and instant confirmations - it would appear that the Warwick still operates on allocation systems that are fine most of the time but during a holiday period are shown up as being a bit of an issue. Quite a few people were re-allocated to other hotels nearby and for those of us with a room, access was only granted around 3.30 pm.....annoying but not the end of the world. We had been advised against the Nadi wing but couldn't get into the quieter Suva wing. Having a room overlooking a busy pool, bar and entertainment area could be fun for lots of people....just not us. Fortunately our room was on the 'far' side, looking away from the hotel towards what looked to be the Manager's accommodation, overlooking gardens and the water. It proved to be a good location. The room was fine, pretty well-appointed, nice bathroom.
The place was packed - people everywhere and there were queues or waits at all food venues. We ate at the Japanese restaurant twice, enjoyed it very much. Italian once, place was half empty and yet the service was still very slow. Food average. Wicked Walu once, very nice meal there. Breakfasts were pretty chaotic with a bit of a scramble for the different buffet areas. Amount and variety of food was pretty good though.
The Nadi pool was too busy for us so we used the Suva one each day and it was significantly quieter. Put-put golf was a big hit with our son. It costs FJ5 (AUD3?) which didn't bother us. We used the gym once and it was ok but hot.
The hotel laundry service must be tryng for a world record - clothes put in at 10.30 am were back at 2pm! The same didn't run to getting towels which typically came quite late each day - I'm guessing related to the full-ness of the hotel.
On the day of the Manager's 'Cocktail Party' it rained all afternoon and the ice machines were emptied as people drank instead of being able to go out. As a result the hotel appeared to be full of seriously drunk people that evening. A woman in her 50s walked past me in the lobby and vomited, then kept on walking. In the Nadi wing hallways there were 3 or 4 other piles of vomit and the Suva pool toilets were closed after I told them about the vomit in there the next day......to their credit the hotel cleared the mess up pretty rapidly but not before plenty of people had walked through it all, partcularly the hallway where kids in bare feet ran through it.....undoubtedly the ugliest part of the stay. While the hotel cant be totally responsible for this it did seem odd in light of Fijian culture, the hotel being full of families with kids and any sort of responsible service of alcohol.
In spite of all this our son enjoyed the stay, but I think he was oblivious to the worse parts...
