Reviewed August 17, 2011

Although we have been to Warner Historic Hotels before, this was the first for Cricket St Thomas. 3 couples were in our party and we had a wonderful time. The Gardens were superb..........tour with the headgardener was very informative, as with the cider tasting!! We had the standard rooms, and, although I'm quite fussy, I would certainly book this room again. You can do as much or as little as you like and the entertainment staff certainly pur their all into helping you have a good time. All round good value for the money. Would definately book again!

We have just returned from a weekend break here, it was my first experience of warner leisure hotels and I am very impressed.
We stayed in a signature room which was very clean and spacious, in a nice location on the ground floor with a patio area, ducks visit every morning and evening! The bathroom was a little shabby, but otherwise very nice and comfortable room.
We paid the extra to be all inclusive,I would highly recommend
this option. The tree tops restaurant is a disaster, the food was like hospital/school dinners. It was bland tasteless and very overcooked. The service is so rushed, while I was still on my main course the serving area was scrubbed down and rice crisps etc all laid up ready for breakfast.
Fennochis restaurant is right at the other end of the scale, beautiful relaxed setting, excellent food and service. Definitely worth the supplement.
Overall a very good experience, all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. A beautiful hotel, just a shame about the awful main restaurant.

Thank you for you recent review,

I was pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and our team looked after you well. I was sorry to hear you felt the main dining was below our usual standards, although we do look after many guests it is important that service and quality are maintained.

I hope this will not deter you coming back to see us soon.

Just returned form a 2 day stay with my wife in room 582 which is located in the "walled garden" accomodation. Previous reviews were critical of the dated level of decoration however it appears that money has been spent on the accomodation and is still being spent on the surrounding grounds. The room was well equiped with luggage stand, wardrobe with ample wooden hangers and draw space, tea/coffee/chocolate making facility, flat screen TV with freeview channels, DVD player and a seperate radio.
Breakfast and evening meals gave the option of buffet style or selection from the menu which was served to the table. Waitress service was very efficient and there was the option of setting up a charge card or paying cash as you go for drinks or chargable items from the menu. The food was of a good standard and they were able to accomodate my wheat/gluten free requirement.
There was plenty of parking spaces directly in front of the accomodation which also housed the leisure centre (which we did not make the time to use).
The evening entertainment was aimed at the older residents and was well attended. However there are other bar/lounge areas to enjoy a quiet evening. We were also advised that there is book and DVD library in the "Historic" accomodation.
The reception booking-in process was very thorough and I even received a phonecall two days before our booking to check on dietary requirements and to provide advice on what to do and where to go on arrival.
Overall a pleasant stay and regretted not staying longer to take advantage of all of the facilities and activities.

This was our 3rd yearly visit to Cricket and I have to say it gets better each time! It was great to see the improvements made since our last visit, in particularly the area around the new Italian restaurant which has been tidied up with new gardens and a lovely square which was great to sit in, sip Pimms and watch the entertainment! The restaurant itself was a pleasure, great staff that were very attentive and pleasant, the 3 course dinner was fabulous and wasn’t rushed and was a more romantic experience than the busyness of the buffet dining.

The entertainment was, as always, great fun. The entertainment team is always there with a smile and plenty of time to chat and mingle. The Abba theme made the weekend a fun experience.

I have to commend this hotel for the cleanliness, pleasant setting, great staff, good food and fun entertainment. Even the cleaning staff are friendly and say hello with a smile whenever you walk by and nothing was ever too much trouble.

Yet again a great weekend – we’ll be back!

We stayed for two nights in an historic room, which was expensive but worth it for a special occasion. It was like staying in a stately home and the large bedroom with four poster bed, spacious bathroom and super views over the manicured gardens was everything we could have hoped for. The main dining room served fairly basic food, which suited the fairly elderly clientele (apologies for the generalization!). However, the other restaurant, Fenocchi's was really excellent. I was expecting an upmarket Pizza Express, but it was nothing of the sort, it served authentic Italian fare. The staff throughout the hotel were helpful and accommodating and the facilities were very good throughout, not least the lakes
and gardens.

Room Tip: Push the boat out and upgrade to an historic room!

Our third visit and it just gets better.

We visited for the Abba weekend and once again the staff went out of their way to ensure our visit was an enjoyable one.

From the Manager to his assistants, the receptionists to the waiting, entertainments and cleaning staff, nothing is too much trouble. I do not recall a single occasion where we were not acknowledged.

New this time was the Italian eatery and this was exceptional. I understand that the Chef has been awarded a Michelin Star and this was reflected in the quality of the food on offer.

We had an spotless room, the gardens were immaculate and the food and entertainment were first class. Already planning our next visit.

Well done all at Warners!

I stayed in two rooms. First room was in the old house and was absolutely stunning, big room with four poster bed and big shower room with everything you need. The second room was in the newer part of the hotel and was decorated not so long ago, also, so very amazing room! With comfy sofa and chairs and four poster bed and big bath and big shower. Both rooms had complimentary sweets, water and wine in them. Also coffee machine and teas. Some rooms(signature ones probably) do have bathrobes in them, but if not, you can hire them for small money. There were iron and ironing board and a hairdryer in the room as well. Rooms were very very clean!
Italian restaurant staff were fab and food very good.
The house entertainment team is just GREAT! Especially Neil who entertained guest on his own at the reception area, very funny person!
Restaurant staff was also very helpful and friendly.
