A light and airy room by day, the Wheelroom with its flickering candles is transformed into a romantic evening setting with soft music by night and the constant turn of the waterwheel behind the glass partition enhances your experience whenever you dine. Tables can be arranged to suit your needs, so whether eating alone, as a couple or with a party of family or friends the Wheelroom can accommodate you. Your welcome at the bar is second to none, choose your dishes from the a la carte menu, wander down to the Wheelroom where our fully trained, attentive but unobtrusive waitresses will look after you from starters to coffee and liqueurs

We went to a wedding in October 2013. The wedding venue upstairs was lovely. The buildings and lake were beautiful. The reception buffet was held in a room downstairs with an overflow marquee which was nice. We went to collect our food and had a bun, a dessert spoon sized bit of pork, some onions and a piece of beef with some sauces-not impressed! I know about modern 'fish and chip' meals as wedding breakfast and believe this was a 'burger in a bun' type meal but there was hardly anything on the plate! Pudding was 3 small blobs of ice cream although there were 2 servings of strawberries and ice cream with no sugar. No coffee or tea served afterwards. I asked about coffee and was told initially that they only served it after a meal! Lol ! Now I know it may not have been much but it was a meal. I was told it was charged as extra so I tried to order it but was told it couldn't be served as it was a 'health and safety issue', someone might bump into the waitress carrying the tray to our table! What?? Then another person said everyone who could make the coffee had gone home! Got some eventually by getting the groom to ask for it.! Young staff with little experience but polite. Have heard from others who attended and had poor food experience also. Sorry but that's my experience.

First the whole of the hotel is situated in an old watermill, with lots of preserved industrial heritage.
You can sit in the restaurant and see the wheel or look out onto the pond or river see the activity of the wildlife. The staff are most helpful (and being a wheelchair user that is always an extra!)
Then the food. The menu was well presented and the food cooked beautifully and absolute delight but not only that a special request for a smaller portion was beautifully catered for.

We visited to attend a wedding and it was a superb location. On one of the nicest days of the year, the wedding was outside in the most picturesque of surroundings. Water wheel, ducks, ducklings, peacocks, beautiful grounds - it had it all. Food was good and service was efficient - not easy when you're catering for large numbers. Noticed the "tapas" offering at £30 for two including wine but, of course, couldn't sample it. Unfortunately we live too far away to return for dinner but I would happily do so if we lived closer.
