“A real gem at the end of the lane”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

First impresions is what it is all about with beautiful flower baskets hanging outside, ample parking in ther private car park and a very warm welcome at the door from the owners. The room was perfect, nicely decorated with a warm feeling lovely and clean with a very comfortable bed . The guest lounge was a delight to sit in with the most amaizing ceiling. Breakfast was a real treat cooked to perfection, no need to worry to much about lunch if you tuck into the full English. We took note of Trudy the owners sugestions of where to eat and visit and were impresed in what we ate and saw. We will be back again soon to stay here and visit more of this wonderful part of the country.

Many Thanks to Dave, Trudy and Puppy George for making our stay so special. We were given a very warm welcome. The room was beautiful. Spotlessly clean. Bed was extremely comfortable. A lot of thought has gone into ensuring that we ladies have somewhere to sit and get ready. Something I really appreciate. Plenty of mirrors too. David's cooked breakfast is a must! Everything was so fresh and cooked to perfection. Very yummy!!! Whilst serving breakfast Trudy was on hand to offer friendly advice to help plan your day. Nothing was too much trouble for David and Trudy. Will definitely return.

We spent two nights at this lovely B&B, visiting relatives in Chard. We had a lovely welcome by Trudy and had our suitcase taken upstairs by David.
However busy, Trudy always had time to give us helpful suggestions about various localities, whilst David cooked a really hearty full English breakfast using locally sourced produce.
We will be visiting our relatives again later in the year and will have no hesitation about booking in to Watermead again..

Room Tip: If you have restricted mobility, it would be wise to specify a 1st floor room, as the 2nd floor stai...

We are a family of 5 (twin sons and daughter) and always have problems finding suitable overnight accommodation and usually end up having to book two rooms in some 'chain' hotel near the motorway. Problem solved with Watermead with one huge family room above the garage.
We stayed for two nights while attending a wedding in Balcombe St. Regis and Honiton.

David and Trudy, in particular, are wonderful hosts and full of useful, local information.
If we are in this neck of the woods, we will certainly stay again.
Private off road and free parking.
Free wifi.
Full English breakfasts.
Good luck training George!!!

We had two nights at the Watermead Guest House, and it was the perfect stopover. Heavy bags taken to our room, home made biscuits to help yourself to in the hall, and very friendly owners with lots of helpful advice on where to eat and what to do.

Also very welcome the private car park, taking away the worry of parking in the high street.

The bed was very comfortable. One point to note, the room we had had the glass walled shower cubicle actually in the corner of the bedroom, which took us by surprise. There was a separate bathroom along the corridor, meant for other guests, but which I am sure we could have used, and a loo and washbasin as the ensuite to the room.

If watching each other shower isn't your thing, then there is a very comfortable lounge for guests, and one of you could sit in there! I suspect the other rooms were of a more conventional layout, ours was a last minute booking.

Breakfast was excellent, with locally sourced produce. To our further delight, the hosts had the most adorable 14 week old chocolate labrador puppy, who was delighted to see us on every occasion!

Room Tip: Ask about the bathroom arrangements if you would rather have your shower in the en suite rather than...

Myself ad my whole family (about 20 of us) stayed here in July as we were attending a wedding. We couldn't have been made to feel more at home and welcomes by Trudy, David and George. They were very helpful and friendly and made our whole weekend even better. We are now thinking of coming just for a holiday next year. We all had a fantastic stay, from Grannies to Grandchildren. Thank you.

A very clean and cosy place to stay. Allthough I have not experienced the city of Chard itself, I must come back in the near future. The owners are extremely friendly and helpfull. David and Trudy, I would like to thank you for taking care of me and the motorbike. Thanks for the drive to the hospital and the support. The broken collarbone is healing, but it will take some time. Hopefully we start our journey where we stopped, in Watermead Guest House. Of all the geusthouses we slept in over the last several years this our favourite one: clean, friendly and best price - quality.
