“Comfort, cleanliness and care”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We have just had twelve days here and to say we were impressed is an understatement. Have been visiting Greece for nearly 30 years and this is by far the best accommodation ever.

Clean, spacious, well thought out with the customer's comfort uppermost in their mind when designing and furnishing. The bathroom was superb, super shower and a loo that takes paper! The bed was huge and so comfy!

We took our dvd players and because the tv's are modern there was a scart lead and we were very cosy of an evening watching discs (I don't drink so hours in the taverna do not appeal).

It was a pleasure to return at the end of the day (or half way as it was unusually hot recently) and I sought the shelter of my lovely air conditioned apartment.

If you go to Finikounda and DON'T stay here, you are, as they say, a sandwich short of a picnic!!!!!!

Hotel Estia has been designed with love, care and a great deal of taste. The rooms are unusually spacious, and all have balconies, some with full or partial sea views over the bay and islands off Finikounda. The clever kitchenettes are well-equipped (even a kettle - not common in Greek hotels!) and the bathrooms have a full-sized bath with a powerful shower over. The standard of cleanliness is very high.

Although breakfast is not included in the price, you can choose from a range of options, and all are good value for money. You can have breakfast in your room or on the beautiful rooftop terrace overlooking the sea.

The owners and all the staff could not be kinder, and more welcoming. They are always ready to sort out any problems, provide advice on places to visit, the tavernas in the village, and anything else you might want to ask.

We were very impressed by the Hotel Estia and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable, stylish accommodation in beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: Ask when you book your room if having a sea view is important to you.

We discovered Finikounda last year and immediately knew that we had to go there again. Few UK package holiday operators seem to offer trips to Finikounda - seems only Thomas Cook and Sunvil at present. We decided to make our own arrangements. We live in Sussex so it was easy to find Thomas Cook flights from Gatwick to Kalamata. Its about an hors drive from Kalamata to Finikounda so we booked a hire car.

Finikounda is little more than a large village so thee are not many hotels. We found Hotel Estia from their internet site (more recently they have been promoted by tripadviser).

Hotel Estia is in the centre of town, very new and it fits up the hillside so that many rooms have sea views - its about 100 metres to the beach, tavernas and shops. Each room is equiped to a high standard with balcony, kitchen area, very comfortable large double bed, cafe style table and chairs and a large settee/extra bed. The rooms are large with beautiful bathrooms and air conditioning plus safety deposit box. The main building at the top of the site houses the reception counter, a bar and dinning area. On the floor above the is a large, roof top balcony with easy chairs and large umbrellas where guests can easily lounge all day and take in the panoramic views across the roof tops and far out to sea.

The staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. That applies equally to the people of Finikounda which is quiet with a clean beaches and excellent tavernas and bars. No highrise or noisy night life.

As you may gather, we loved it! The resort and Hotel Estia are highly recommended.

PS - if you fly into Kalamata, Hotel Estia will help with advise on taxis. We met several people who flew into Athens and drove themselves up from there. The said how easy that was on the new, mostly dual carriageway roads. We may do that next time as it gives a far greater choice of flights/prices.

Room Tip: Rooms at the top have the best views and are closer to the roof top balcony.

What a hotel! My first trip to Greece and I was very impressed. Impeccably clean, courteous and friendly staff, delicious breakfast with fresh orange juice and the most comfortable bed I've slept on in awhile. Stunning views from the terrace, steps to the beach and the nightlife, this hotel is in a prime spot. I would definitely love to visit again! It was quiet and relaxing, and a very nice touch at the end of your stay, they give you a sample of olive oil from their farm!! I will definitely be sharing my experience with all. Well done!

Just returned from 11day stay in Finikounda at hotel estia. Really great...close to the beach with superb views of the bay from the terrace. The rooms were clean and modern with ace bathroom. The couple who run the hotel, Steph and Glen were welcoming and helpful, sharing their local knowledge and pointing us in the right direction to make the most of our stay. My sons and I thoroughly recommend the hotel.

Although nothing to do with the hotel a small tip; I found quite a lot of establishments would not accept credit cards so you need a plan B. The hotel itself does accept credit cards.

Room Tip: 107, 108, 109 are at the top of the hotel off the terrace, great view with loungers and sofas
