From start to finish our stay (10 nights) at Nikos' villa complex, was fantastic. We arrived with no complications thanks to the specific google location which was sent to us in advance, and when we asked the family about any recommendations for food they invited us to dine with them as they we having a family barbecue at the entrance of the small complex, something completely unexpected, welcoming and delicious. In the room they had kindly left us two bottles of (very nice) wine, fruit and ouzo. The accommodation has everything you could want in way of towels, seating options, utensils and dishware including a washing machine and clothes rack outside for a longer visit. The pool was cleaned every morning by Vouna (Nikos' sister-in-law) and she serviced the villa every three days, checking with us first when the best time was to do so. I can't imagine many similar apartments would be as clean, as luxurious, as well managed, as safe nor as lovely as these villas, and especially for the price. The location is good, a 2 minute walk to the beach or a 15 minute walk down the main road into the village although we didn't go often as we found a fantastic restaurant in Methoni, a 15 minute drive away. The road is quite close to the villas with the odd noisy motorbike or tractor going by but this was not really a problem for us. There are two showers, one outside and one adjoined to the bedroom area, both with hot water which had lots of water pressure. The entire apartment was impeccably clean with lovely coastal breezes. There is a medium sized supermarket on the main road on the way to Methoni which has all the necessities and more and the staff are wonderfully helpful (although as it everyone in that area it seemed). The wider location of the villa was brilliant, Messinia was the friendliest area of Peloponnese, it wasn't as mountainous as the Mani or the north but it was packed with smaller sights to see (castles in Methoni and Koroni and ancient Messenne/Palace of Nestor). Finikounda itself is not the quickest to access other parts of Peloponnese as the roads are single track and can go slowly but for a relaxing holiday with lots of lovely beaches, smaller but equally beautiful ancient sites, we couldn't recommend it more. Thank to Niko's and his family for a brilliant stay, next time we're in the Peloponnese, we'll be coming back your way!
