We went here for our honeymoon and it was fabulous. The resort is beautiful pictures do not do justice. The place is set away from the main city and remains quiet the entire time. The staff go out of their way to accommodate all our needs. We were able to kayak, snorkel, water paddle all on the resort. We stayed in the both the Zing Zing and Zucoba villas both were great but we loved the Zucoba. The island does not have a lot nightlife or great shopping but is great for outdoor adventures.

Room Tip: There is a Masjid 10 min outside of the resort in Portsmouth and lots of halal food options. Our favorite was the usual spot - thai food. Others were Shawarma King, and a shack next to Ross with Indian halal food.

We will be back!
My wife and I continue to enjoy every wedding anniversary. In 27 years we have appreciated each other in many amazing ways. These includes; several vacations within the Caribbean, trips to North Central and South America, cruises vacations a trip to Hawaii and a nature expedition to the Galapagos, one we will never forget. Locally we have had the opportunity to enjoy some of the best hotels on the island. April 2014 was a blast for my wife Nella when we stayed at the secret bay for her 50th birthday, she had a time of her life. The years roll by quickly and October 4th 2014 meant a lot to us! 28 years of marriage. Since we are on island, and didn’t have travel plans, I asked my wife how she would like to celebrate our 28th anniversary; she did not hesitate but immediately replied, “Let’s stay at Secret Bay”. A few days later I spoke with Anna and a booking was confirmed for the period 3rd to 5th 0ctober 2014. Our bungalow was called Ti-fey which means (small leaves). The romantic setting captivated us immediately, the level of care and attention offered at that facility completely hypnotizes thus immersing you into an unbelievable mode of relaxation. A well stocked kitchen with a reasonable assortment of fine wines and champagnes added worth to one of the best nights of our lives. Dinner was served at our unit by Sarah- lee who did an incredible job with the presentation. The meal was so good we did not want brush our teeth that night (lol). Our weekend at Secret bay reminded us of how busy we can be in our normal lives and such moments spent treating ourselves are priceless.

Secret Bay is one of the most unbelievable places I have ever been. My husband and I stayed in Zabuco I and it was unparalleled. The villa was beautiful and secluded, the food was incredible and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. In addition the Island is really great to explore; a real mix of adventure and relaxation. The staff at Secret Bay made all of our desire arrangements and had great suggestions for things we hadn't even thought of. It was a truly wonderful experience and we can't wait to find the time to go back!

Room Tip: LOVED Zabuco Villa

We loved Secret Bay! We chose to honeymoon in Dominica for one week because we wanted to experience a more adventurous and natural island. Secret Bay was the luxury we were looking for and I can guarantee it is the fanciest property in Dominica. We stated in the Mapou villa and it was a great experience for the price we paid.

What we loved the most about Secret Bay? The food and the property. Seriously, the food was out of control good. Secret Bay pays great attention to detail when it comes to food and we were incredibly impressed. Each meal was better than the next and we are pretty picky about the quality of our food. If you are a foodie...you will not be disappointed. They also make their own yogurt and other delicious snacks.

The service was amazing. The staff made our honeymoon special by decorating our villa with candles and flowers. Merlinda helped us plan all of our activities and set us up with great people who took good care of us on each adventure.

The property as Secret Bay was gorgeous--we loved how we could hear the waves crashing on the shore at all times of the day. The property is just as well kept and pristine as it looks in the photos. Everything in the villa seemed brand new. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed in it to cook some of our own meals.

Secret Bay is also located in a great town where the Ross University medical school is so when we ventured out to eat we found plenty of great and fun little restaurants to dine at. However, that being said, most of the amazing and most well known activities are located about an hour's drive away in the capital so we recommend renting a car which is what we did. It worked out perfectly. There are lots of things to do around Secret Bay too (hiking, snorkeling, beaches), we just didn't get to do them this trip.

Last thing worth mentioning, the owner of Secret Bay came by our villa to personally make sure we were being taken care of and to get feedback. That says a lot. We could instantly tell he cares a lot about his property and that it is a very special place. We highly recommend Secret Bay to anyone looking to vacation in Dominica!

Room Tip: We chose the Mapou villa because of price. It was small, but fine for two people and it had an amazing view. However, looking back, it would have been nice to choose a villa with a pool or a hot tub because there isn't a public one to use on the property. I would recommend spending the extra money to have this amenity.

Hi Rachel L,

Thanks for your amazing review of Secret Bay and especially for choosing us to spend your Honeymoon. Nothing makes us happier than knowing that it went so well. And thanks for letting us know our food enticed your taste buds. Our chef and cooks prepared the meals with love..:-)

Regarding excursions, many of Dominica’s most popular attractions are hours’ drive away, but we hope you experienced many of the nearby ones as well, like the Indian River, Syndicate, Prince Rupert Bay, Fort Shirley and the Cabrits National Park. For the further afield attractions, while some adventurous souls explore on their own and have a wonderful time like you did, most of our guests actually opt for the guided and personalized experience of one of our experienced and knowledgeable drivers.

Again, thanks so much for the review and we hope to see you again in the near future.

Kind regards,

Merlinda

I took my extended family to Secret Bay for a week this summer: wife, teenage son, parents (for 70th birthday), sister and boyfriend. It was the best vacation ever for each of us. We stayed in the Zing Zing villa, which was absolutely stunning. Simple, elegant, comfortable. Fantastic covered porch for lounging and dining. We took advantage of the personal chef every day--couldn't have been easier. Place your order early in the day, and a fabulous meal awaits you on your porch for lunch and/or dinner. The staff was incredibly thoughtful and kind, and took care of every possible request and detail. The location was beyond beautiful. Tucked into the hills overlooking they bay. Gorgeous secluded beaches right near by. Endless amazing things to do on the island, which the staff can help arrange. And the tour guides they connected us with couldn't have been nicer and more fun--they became great friends during our time there. Although the trip was six months ago, my family continues to talk about it and long for our next trip to Secret Bay.

Room Tip: The bungalows and the villas are wonderful in their own ways--it's not possible to go wrong.
