Best hospitality can't wait to return. Great adventure that everyone must experience. Never stop having fun with great food and company throughout the village. Great get away where you can put up the electronics and enjoy fishing, snorkeling, and just fun in the sun.

Really nice experience, Niki is an excellent host, one of the sweetest persons I've ever met. If you are planning to go to Punta Allen rent a small truck, I personally drove a Renault Duster and was good enough, I can't imagine driving in that bumpy road in a small sedan, if you appreciate your spine go for a Jeep.
Do not miss the boat tour offered by locals, you should go to the ones affiliated to the cooperative, ask Niki and she will recommend the best capitan. That tour is a must, there you can see dolphins, turtles, exotic birds and even a croc.
We had lunch in a place called Puerto Viejo and was fresh and delicious.
Serenidad has everything you need considering that you are in a small village in the middle of nowhere, ie, hot water, shower, comfortable bed, even battery fans.
At night you'll see one of the most beautiful skies, full of stars.

Room Tip: well equipped and comfortable cabins

We stayed an the lower floor of The Beach House. It was a nice size and had 2 bedrooms. One had a king and a double, and the other had a king. I would recommend the front beach house vs Corazon for the extra cost. It was perfect for 2 couples who are there for to relax and enjoy. We weren't there for the fishing.

The house was beautifully situated right on the beach, which we had all to ourselves. There was a lovely shaded sandy area and palapas, hammocks, and loungers to use on the beach.

Nikke, the owner was very helpful with anything we needed. She recommended some great restaurants in town, and also arranged a boat tour on Christian's boat. Our stay was total serenity, mind you we were the only ones on the premises for the night.

The town of Punta Allen is powered by generators, so power is only available from 11-2pm and 6-11pm. That means no air conditioning at night. Nikki provides battery powered fans for some of the night, and we found out she also has power inverter for things like CPAP machines. It was very windy during our stay, so the mosquitos were kept to a minimum, but we were prepared with major amounts of deet just in case.

The rates are pretty high for the rustic type accomodations, but keep in mind you are at the end of a Peninsula, and ammenities in such a location come at a price. If you would rather trade the private beach for modern conveniences like a pool or A/C, there are other locations in town for you.

Room Tip: We had booked Casa Corazon, but found that the lower floor of the Beach House was more to our liking...

This was the second place we stayed on a three week trip in December 2013, and as we were trying to keep costs down somewhat we booked a tent for the four (I think) nights. The trip to Punta Allen was nice, and the long drive down the dirt road was easily manageable for someone used to Irish roads!

The experience was nice, but we probably stayed a day or two too long - maybe 3 days would have been nice. Niki was helpful in many ways, but as with everywhere we found in Mexico, everything here has a price. It was a high season for tourists so the relatively expensive cost of the tents was expected, but was still somewhat excessive.

We were informed on arrival that coffee was available every morning, and we went every morning to be sociable. What we were not informed of until the end was that there was a charge, albeit very nominal. Similarly, we had significant problems with biting insects and at one stage I was offered some tea tree oil as a possible help - again, it was only after the event that i realised I was being charged. I had no intention of causing a fuss about these charges as they were very small, but they did take the gloss off the friendliness of the experience.

On the other hand Niki put a lot of personal effort into Margaritas one evening, and had some very interesting celebrations for the 21st/end of world day - which was very kind of her.

Niki arranged a day trip with one of the local boat captains, Poncho, which was brilliant. Poncho was a skilled guide and a nice fella, with very good English - ask for him if you go.

Punta Allen itself is lovely, and the absolute highlight was the couple of nights we ate at Las Palapas - a little restaurant run by a lovely Cuban guy and his lovely wife, serving excellent food. Of particular note was that this restaurant was about the only place in Mexico where we were not ripped off, and simply got great food and good company and respect, for a fair price.

Serenidad is a beautiful place, and Niki is welcoming and helpful. However, better value would have made us feel more positive rather than feeling a bit like walking wallets.

We made the mistake of allowing ourselves only one night here--especially after making the bumpy, beautiful drive down the peninsula! We stayed in the 2 story house on the beach--much larger than just the two of us needed and more than we wanted to pay, but since it was the only house left, Niki negotiated with us for a price that worked.

The upstairs is one large dorm room with about 5 beds--it has a separate entrance, allowing it to be rented separately. We just used the downstairs, which has 2 bedrooms, large eating area, family room, kitchen and a small bathroom/shower. Open the back door and step onto fine, white sand, a table and chairs and a mighty inviting hammock.

We arrived around 3:00, and on a whim, I asked Niki if there were any boat tours available. She lit up, told us she'd see what she can find and came back a few minutes later offering a Sunset Cruise. Since we didn't mind sharing the boat, Niki and 3 other guests joined us, which turned out to be a real plus. Niki had the capitan take us places in the lagoon and mangroves that most visitors don't get to see. And because the sun was starting to set, dozens and dozens of birds were returning to their homes, circling above our heads. I'm not a birder, but it was hard not to get excited seeing the osprey nest with the baby poking its head out or all the others so close up. Lots of oooohs, ahhhhhs and laughs during our 2 hours on the water.

Later, Niki invited us to join her and some other guests and friends for dinner at one of the little casual restaurants a couple blocks away. (I think it was "Las Palapas"--good!) The four of us joined about 6 other people there and started swapped storied about how we all ended up in Punta Allen. (Thanks again for sharing her wine with us!)

Our night's stay turned out to be one of those serendipitous experiences that became one of the highlights of our 4 week adventure in the Yucatan. It didn't matter that the electricity was out the entire time we were there--we were off the grid, in another world completely where being relaxed, friendly and spontaneous were the norm, and swinging in that hammock with a cold beer in hand and gazing at that aqua water would never get old! It's the perfect mental postcard to recall when the stress starts to build again, and a lot of the credit for that goes to Niki Allen for her easy-going friendliness and warmth!

We stayed with a 1.5 year old boy. Niki and everybody else was wonderful about tolerating him. He went loco, running around, annoying the cat, gesturing at boats, and getting to know all the fishermen. This was truly a paradise for him.

We stayed in a large tent with a queen and a twin bed. We had clean sheets and towels, so it was like a little house.

There are mosquitoes and little biting flies whenever the sun is not shining, so bring a lot of bug spray. Our poor guy and me and my husband got bitten. I learned to use A LOT of bug repelling cream. It is better than being bitten by the bad guys..

It is very hot between 12 pm and 2 pm, so we hid in the shade. We got a little sunburned from forgetting to apply sunblock one day.

Punta Allen is a friendly village with open warm people. We got to know a lot of people during our 5 day stay, and many villagers and fishermen remembered us and our little boy.

Niki makes very good coffee. There are restaurants with great sea food in the village. We liked the restaurant right at the entrance to the village.

The beach was peaceful. There are weeds in the water, so it is not as clear as the sea in the Tulum hotel area. But there is nature and peace that you can't get on a commercial beach.

Room Tip: The houses provide a place to get away from the heat or bugs during the day. But the tents are a ver...

Serenidad Shardon is a lovely, welcoming place to stay. Niki will make you feel right at home. The setting is beautiful, right on the beach with pelicans and osprey flying overhead. There are a few great places to eat in town and Niki can set you up with great tours that can include snorkeling by the reef and visits with dolphins with excellent local guides. The town is pretty small and quiet and not for someone looking for resort-style conveniences but for us, it was perfect. The electricity is only on from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM and 6:00 - 11:00 PM but it was so nice to kick back, get unplugged and go with the rhythm of the sun and the pace of the town. I very much want to go back there!
