We stumbled (actually drove by) this place during a tour of the island with family. Something about the place looked "just right" and once we went inside and saw the others lunching on heaping bowls of mussels, we knew we were in the right place. The local lobster pasta was even better than the mussels! Humble surroundings with picnic style benches and tables. Don't come here expecting fancy, refined service, just wonderful seafood served by attentive, friendly folks.

My husband and I went to this here from the recommendation of a person we met on a day cruise on vacation.

The view is beautiful right on the ocean and the restaurant is very casual. It was odd to me that such a beautiful location with a good reputation and has incredible orange and terrecotta colored tableclothes and then covers them with the ugliest opaque plastic table clothes. Why??

We arrived and were greeted by a man that told us we could sit in two locations both right at the busiest corner of the restaurant. We sat and perused the menu (all in italian) asked our waiter if they take credit cards in our broken italnish and he didnt understand so asked another waiter to help us. The meal was mostly good except the antipasto and my dinner.

We ordered a bottle of a local merlo from partinico that was very good.

First I should say that when in Rome order what everyone else is getting. As our time ticked by in the restaurant we noticed just about every table in the giaganitc restaurant ordered the mussels with red sauce or lemon and the whole octopus with red sauce. Nearly everything we have eaten so far even on our day cruise has been very good.

We started with an antipasto that was not appealing in taste or appearance or texture. It was a shrimp dish with tiny fingernail size shrimp over shredded lettuce with a mayonaisse sauce glob the size of a golf ball on the top.

Next we had a primi. My husband got a delicious dish with mussels clams and tiny shrimp over local pasta. The light wine sauce was perfect with the shrimp well worth the €10.
I ordered a lobster over local pasta in a red sauce. I was hesitant ordering it because it was very expensive €75 but i really felt like having lobster, my husband said "we are on vacation" and we had not found it this far on our vacation.
BIG MISTAKE. Note to self always go with your gut instinct.

The waiter took me to the tank to pick my lobster out. The owner came by and told me which one I should get. I figured he knew better than me. As he took it out of the tank he gave me a bath with the salt water and looked at me lifted his chin and walked away in the kitchen. When he came out i asked him in Italian how much? He said "one minute" then didn't say a word to us again until good night when we left the restaurant. Even though we were less than five feet from him all night. When the lobster came out (see
My picture) I was disappointed that he chef chopped it up into a bunch of small pieces and overlooked it so badly that it was flaking. Yuck! I love lobster it is one of my "last meal" foods I make it at home and always am sure never ever to over cook it because it tastes horrible. The pasta was delicious and the taste of the sauce was good too but the texture of chopped up small pieces of shell was undeniably horrible. I didn't eat my lobster mess and when the waiter appeared he asked if it as good. I scrunched up my nose and lips and shook my head from right to left while saying "not really" and he just took my dish nodded and walked away. I was so heated and annoyed that noone said why didn't you eat your €75 lobster but we are in a foreign country the owner looks like a man in an old Italian movie and I didn't want to send it back because I didnt know what would happen....So I kept my thought to myself and my husband (until now)
The secondi was a mix of fried calamari and in shelled shrimp. Again massacred by over cooking.
Ok I am getting down off of my soapbox . I feel better but please do not get the lobster or the shrimp!

Our landlord recommended this restaurant to us. We were there the first and the last evening of our stay.
This is a popular place: Make a reservation or get there in time - otherwise you may need to queue!
The seafood is FRESH!
Our antipasti the first night was octopus (in Italian "polpo") - and that's what we got: The whole one cooked in a delicious sauce. Very special, if you are not used to it!

Friendly staff, but only part of the staff will talk English.

The location is directly on the sea: You sea the sun set right out of the window. The restaurant interior is simple. Here the focus is in what's on the dishes ans plates.

We will definitively return - put skip the polpo next time.
