Owner description: The farm is located on the top of the Montefiesole hill at 450 meters above sea level, only 18 km from Florence. It is situated in the charming landscape of the gentle hills of the Chianti Rufina area, rich with vineyards and olive groves.

“Great Tuscan food”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

Lovely restaurant on a hill, with a beautiful view. Large outside terrace. They serve Tuscan food, organic and biological as much as possible. Especially great is the huge fireplace where Sergio (Serial Griller) grills the meat. Portions are large, so we struggled with the antipasti, primi, secondi, it was just too much. We went here twice while staying at Fattoria Lavacchio, and it was great. Thank you Sonia for the Limoncello recipe, we will def. try to make it at home.

“Great food and wine”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

Fantastic food, some of the best during our 3 week stay in Italy and France. Yummy courgette flowers, truffle ravioli, sausage and fennel pasta and great steaks. If you are staying at Fattoria Lavacchio (highly recommended) then you must try the restaurant...and the wine. Fantastic food, service great, although at the chilled out Italian pace expected!

“Excellent in all respects”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

Our group of 30+/- American Master Gardeners visited the winery for an afternoon, learned about grape and olive production, sampled olive oils, and followed it all with a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. Everything about our experience at the Fattoria was absolutely excellent. Naomi and Dimitri were superb teaching our group about the wine operation and the nuances of olive oil. The service in the restaurant was very fine and the food . . . terrific! Perhaps we ate too much, but no one wanted to pass up any of the courses! We enjoyed the sunset over the valley below and truly enjoyed every aspect of our visit.

We plan to visit the Fattoria again!

“Fattoria Lavacchio - wonderful wine producers”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

Despite not having booked beforehand, during our recent stay at the Pensione Bencista we visited this Fattoria and received a most hospitable welcome from Faye Lottero who explained the process of making their excellent wines.

We were particularly pleased with the magnificent Oro del Cedro. Do not be fooled by the fact that it is labelled as a Toscana IGT.

This is a wonderful wine using late-harvested Traminer grapes (as in Gewürztraminer). Since we travelled by air to Italy we could only manage a bottle of this and one of their excellent Cedro Chianti Rufina safely packaged and in our checked luggage.

If you have a car in this part of Tuscany well worth a visit. I am told that their Mulino Vento restaurant is excellent but we did not have time to visit.
