I was very good impressed about the looks of this hotel it should have at least three stars ! The owners are absolutely great people very friendly , the breakfast is good the prices are amazingly good for the high season. I absolutelly recommend this hotel to be the first choice in Nea Kallikratia which by the way has a great night life, good restaurants and clean waters.

Clean, cozy, beautiful view over the sea.
The best homemade breakfast we ever had in Greece.
The only little problem was to find the place even with the GPS.
Nice seaside tavern.
Perfect stay for all purposses.

We stayed at Heraion for a week with friends of ours and we were absolutely satisfied with every aspect of our stay. The hotel staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful, the rooms were immaculate and the buffet was delicious with great variety. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends without hesitation!

This hotel is by far the best we have stayed in Greece. Towels changed every day, proper shower. Beautiful continental breakfast with also one hot dish.

Nothing is too much trouble for Thomas and his family. He also has a restaurant on the beach where we ate most nights, it is not expensive and the food is lovely.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to Halkidiki and stay at the hotel again

Room Tip: We stayed twicw on our trip first time for 3 days and had room 104 and the second time overnight and...

We travel a lot in Northern Greece so I can say it`s not easy to find a hotel like this in the region – clean, cozy, everything done to real feel-like-home. Even though we stayed for just one night we had a great view over the town and the sea, nice swans on the bed, a candle and a book to read (unluckily we can`t read in greek :). People there were smiled and helpful. The hotel is situated in the middle between Thessaloniki and Halkidiki, so Heraion is good either for city break, shopping, or holiday purposes. Nea Kalikratea itself has a sandy beach that could be used too. The homemade breakfast was amazing.
The family tavern was really good, just by the sea and about 10 minute walk from Heraion. It happened me and my husband to be the only ones in the tavern (middle of the week in March) but the owner made his best to make us comfortable. When we went there our table was prepared and the typical gas heater was on. Food was delicious. I can imagine how would this place look like in summertime.
We thank the owners family for the hospitality.

We were three adults and five children (3, 5, 8, 12 and 16 yrs old) making our way to Istanbul from Venice via a cheap flight to Thessaloniki -- not sure what we would do in Greece for a few days, nor how we would get to Istanbul, but our budget was ... limited. From the Thessaloniki airport we took a public bus into the city and stayed one night at an unpleasant hostel -- not to be mentioned again in this review. But Greek hospitality redeemed itself for this family. Three hours on the internet yielded an interesting option: a one-hour bus ride out to the nearby beach town of Nea Kallikratia, and a hotel named the Heraion. It's a little tough to see as you come in on the bus, but a real pleasure to finally arrive at the door and be greeted by people who treat you like honored guests.

The Tsikas family (Thomas, his wife and his son) welcomed us and made us feel at home. Rooms were quiet, clean and well appointed, with plenty of windows and good views out across the town. A truly extraordinary homemade breakfast greeted us each morning, and it was an easy 15-minute walk down the hill to the beach and its clear blue water each day. Thomas also runs a beach-front tavern, with really wonderful Greek food. Grilled octopus and vegetables, fresh bread and tsatsiki, melon and ice cream for dessert ... And that was just my brother's order!

The Tsikas family even helped with our travel arrangements from Thessaloniki to Istanbul by steering us to a reliable bus/coach service and placing some phone calls -- in Greek, which we do not speak.

My overall evaluation: Nea Kallikratia and the Hotel Heraion deserve to be a destination, not just a lucky break. We will be coming back here, on purpose, next time we head to the Mediterranean.

Room Tip: Tell the Tsikas family what you need (extra beds, towels, etc) and they will do their utmost to acco...
