“What a fab place!!!!”
Reviewed August 31, 2010

Well what can I say?
It was our 17th time to Hanioti but our first time at the Ampelia and we will certainly be returning!
Our room was lovely! We were on the end so had two windows and the balcony door which meant that there was plenty of light able to get in. All the rooms have a sea view and on a clear day you can see the next peninsula and Turtle Island.
The pool area was brill! There were plenty of sun loungers and the pool was a great size. There was also a shaded area at the bar which was nice when it got too hot in the afternoon (make sure you have some banana and cherry juice!).
The owners at the Ampelia are lovely and nothing is too much trouble! When we first arrived we had a little trouble with the lock on our door but they didnt complain when we had to ask them on a couple of occasions to open it for us (we obviously didnt have the knack in the first few days but we quickly picked it up.)
Air conditioning is available at 5 euros a night which was well worth it especially due to the heat and you can use the safe which is in the wardrobe for 15 euros a week.
The walk from the hotel to the square takes under ten minutes and on a night after being out for a meal it is a nice walk back and it helps you build up a thirst and so the bar at the hotel being open at night is very handy!
I would certainly recommend this hotel to everybody!

Having just returned from a two week stay at Ampelia I would recommend these apartments to anyone wanting to stay in Hanioti. The rooms were clean, well looked after and had everything you would need for a short stay - the air con at 5 a day was well worth the investment in August. The pool area and pool bar were beautiful, none of the photos reallly do it justice. For the first week we didn't leave the poolside during the day. The size of this apartment complex meant that the pool was never overcrowded and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful while never intrusive or overbearing. Pantelis even arranged accomodation for some friends of ours arriving at the last minute in another hotel as they had no space at Ampelia when we asked if he knew of anywhere - truly generous hosts. Of an evening Susie worked in the bar and was a charming host who was again friendly and helpful at all times.
The walk into Hanioti of an evening was pleasant and easy ( don't bother packing your killer heels though). There are plenty of places to eat, we enjoyed the highly recommended Pallinis, Zorbas, The garden and Fresh. All well priced and good service at each. We found the bars around the square a little expensive but great for people watching. The resort itself was a little on the quiet side of an evening for my taste but pleasant.
We hired a car and had a look around the second peninsula, it was quieter with some nice beaches but they were very bus( peak season). we drove to the other side of the Kassandra peninsula where we found some lovely views and up into the mountains at the top of the peninsulas to eat Souvlaki.
Hanioti is a great place for a relaxing holiday. Ampelia apartments are something special and will make this a holiday to remember.

We got back yesterday from the Ampelia Hotel and already we are missing the views, the pool, and the relaxation. We stayed at the pool all day as the weather was too hot to venture out in the day and went in to town each evening enjoying some lovely food. All the restaurants that we visited were clean and most of the staff spoke excellent english. we spent the later part of the evenings sat at the pool bar with the lovely Susie who invented a cocktail for our son Kyle who was most impressed. We were a family of 4, with a 19 year old and an 11 year old and we all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. we would have loved to have travelled to the city and embarked on a boat trip but Greece was in the midst of a heat wave and it was just too hot. However we all read and swam and relaxed and feel that we have all had a well deserved rest. Thank you so much for the lovely holiday and I hope that Pandelis is over the worry of my husband being stung by a wasp as he is allergic and we forgot his medication, although pay back for the eternal jokes!!! Would love to come back and would recommend to all and if we were to own a hotel we would hope that we could do a similar job.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at the Ampelia Studios. We read the reviews before we went and agree it is a great place to stay. The owners Poppy and Pantelis are so friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a lovely location, about 15 minutes walk from the main square and beach, with lovely countryside and sea views from the pool. We spent every day by the pool, it was so quiet and relaxing. The whole complex is very attractive with lovely gardens.

The studios were quite spacious and very clean. They have a small kitchen area and a balcony that gets the sun in the morning. The air conditioning cost 5 Euros per day and the safety deposit box cost 15 Euros for the week.

The resort of Hanioti was very busy. We ate at some lovely restaurants including Pallinis and Kassandras Rooftop Garden. There are plenty of shops, supermarkets and bars in the main square and surrounding area. If you go to the beach in the evening one of the bars put chairs and tables onto the beach and you can enjoy a cocktail right on the waters edge.

We travelled with First Choice and booked a trip with them to Mount Athos. It was a very long day but well worth it to see some more of Greece and the lovely scenery. We sailed along the Mount Athos peninsula in a large galleon which had plenty of seating areas in the sun or shade.

There was a very friendly atmosphere amongst the guests whilst we were there. We would recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday. Thank you for a great week!

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Ampeila studios; and we absolutely loved every second of it! We only left the hotel in the evening for dinner and drinks in town; the pool and bar was just too gorgeous to leave throughout the day!
From start to finish we were well looked after; met from the coach on arrival; and always greeted with a smile each morning around the pool.
The pool area is a really tranquil and relaxing place to unwind; plenty of sun loungers; and pretty shaded areas to sit and read; or have a drink. Although this area may appear small on the pictures; it really is perfect.
Rooms are basic; but more than adequate. The balconies all overlook a nice garden area; and are relatively private. We paid 5 euro's a day for air-con; which was well worth it; especially in 40+ degrees!
It takes about 15 mins to stroll into town; and is a pleasant walk past some rather nice houses. The town itself is busy most evenings; but we always found a place to eat very easily...we ate at 'The Roof Garden' 'Palini' 'Stones' and a big Italian right on the square. The food is all reasonably priced; and of a similar quality.

Overall we had a very relaxing and fun holiday. The owners; Pantalis and Poppy, are brilliant hosts (even with those jokes Pantalis) and we would recommend the studio's to our family and friends.
Thank you!

We have just returned from our two week break at the Ampelia Studios in Hanioti, these Apartments were ideal for us very clean, quiet location and best of all a very friendly relaxed atmosphere, Pantalis, Poppy and Susie are great hosts and made us all feel very welcome, they were always ready for a chat around the pool bar, pantilise has plenty of stories to keep you amused and gives you a regular weather update from home, we enjoyed the Greek night very much it was very authentic as Pantalise and Poppys family and friends were there and really enjoyed themselves, the home cooked food was fantastic nothing was too much troulble (even special requests)
Hanioti town is a very nice little busy town with plenty of restaurants and shops etc the town square is a fifteen walk away from the studios, but it was always nice to return the quiet of the Ampelia apartments.
All in all if you love Greece like us you will love this place.
