“"Es Puet Blanc" - "The Little White Well!" - what a gem!”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

We (a family of 4, 2 adults & 2 children aged 7 & 11) stayed at the "Es Puet blanc" the last week in July/first week in August and had a thoroughly amazing holiday. We arrived on a 5am flight from Glasgow, so arrived into Portinatx at approx. 11.30am, after a 35-40min transfer. We didn't expect the room to be ready so just got changed into something much cooler than jeans and went off exploring. The owners Tony & Maria were excellent & really helpful and spoke very good English. We left our bags outside room 1 which we had been allocated, while the cleaners finished cleaning the room. We discovered Le Jardin del mar - where we had a great english breakfast costing 20euros for 4 of us - with unlimited coffee!
On return to Es Puet blanc our room (1) was very large, a bathroom, kitchen with microwave, 2 hob-rings, kettle & toaster. Plenty of crockery too. A sofa-bed for the kids and a twin-bedroom for us. A lovely balcony ove-looking the beach & bay - PERFECT!
In Portinatx there are 3 supermarkets, a spar which we used just around from Es Puet Blanc, and 2 up in the square. There were 3 beaches, Es puet blanc is right onto S'Arenal petit, S'Arenal grand & Es Port which is approx. 15min walk just further down the road from Restaurant Nort. We were able to swim every day, the waters being very calm for the kids - and if you look closely there are lots of little fish. There are plenty of bars and places to eat - Zulu lounge is a in a beautiful setting looking right out over the beach (S'Arenal Petit), - this is a must for a drink after a long day in the sun, friendly faces at Del Boys, and also a must for a drink is "Boozy Buys" in the square - owned by Shirley, a lovely lady from Glasgow, she has a little off-licence where you can also collect a glass at the check-out and sit and enjoy your ice-cold beer (1.65e for a bottle of san miguel from which you got a good pint and a half), she also owns 2 restaurants "Le Jardin del mar" & "Restaurant Nort" - these were both excellent places to have a meal, Nort specialising in a bbq, but sadly this wasn't very popular as most people didn't seem to walk out this far - however if you visit Portinatx please look for Restaurant Nort - I know you would not be disappointed! Es Puet blanc has a lovely restaurant too - look out for Miguel! Try the paella in Zulu lounge & Le Jardin del Mar.
We visited Ibiza Town by bus which cost 2.85euros each, this is a lovely bustling town - you must see the old town & harbour area. You need to buy a ticket back to Portinatx at the bus-station office. Be careful though arrive for the bus early as sometimes there is only standing room only. It is about a 40 mins. bus-ride.
The Mini train (Ibiza Express) is a must, it does about 3 different trips - we went to San Juan, and Cala St Vincent - this takes approx. 3 hours & tours some beautiful countryside - parts of the island which you wouldn't see. You see a small beach where South Pacific was filmed.
There is a small glass bottomed boat which travels from the side of Jardin del Mar, this takes about 1-1.5 hours and is thoroughly enjoyable - the kids enjoyed feeding the fish inside a cave - & discovering a ship-wreck!
There is a Hippy Market in Portinatx (I think it was a Sunday night) - well worth a look.
I know lots of people have mentioned how many steps there are in this small complex (only 16 apartments) - but aren't there steps everywhere - it didn't bother us at all!
As I mentioned earlier Tony & Maria are great hosts and speak excellent English, anything you need to know just ask them, we asked Tony what Es Puet Blanc meant & he said The Little White Well (this is just out-side the wall of the restaurant) - I don't think alot of people know this! The swimming pool is adequate for these apartments - a small kids side & a larger deep pool, which is kept exceptionally clean at all times. Tony's 2 small kids love to come over and get in the pool - they love it! There is a lovely terrace adjoining the pool area - this is a sun-trap - it gets the sun all day!
We had excellent weather - some days reaching the 40's! wow! it does get very hot in the apartments, we didn't hire a fan - but probably could have done with one - but hey! we survived - you could always take a small fan with you, or buy one in Ibiza town - I think they only cost about 20 euros.
This is a really friendly place where everyone wants to talk to you - if you are searching for loud music & bingo then please don't go to Portinatx as you will not find this here!
Es Puet blanc is going independant next year, as sadly the Thompsons reps don't do anything for them & don't visit, we wish them all the best for the future.
All in all we had a wonderful holiday and loved it so much that we will return one day!

Room Tip: All rooms will be fine.

We were at the Es Puet Blanc w/c 15th oct and wow what view from the rooms you get. All the rooms have a great view and the bay is beautiful, in fact the resort is completely charming(we didn't snorkel but after speaking to Sandy a couple of times about Ollie and his friends, I think we will be trying it on our next visit) . Very low key in Oct as they are coming to the end of the season but still enough to do if your after a relaxing week without 24/7 entertainment. The apartments are large and well equipped, extremely clean. Maria and the team are there from first thing to late evening and work hard to ensure you have a great holiday. Will be visiting again in May, we have been searching for years to find a resort that ticks all the boxes for our ideal holiday and I think our search is now over.

Room Tip: If you get dropped off at the top of the hotel reception is not apparent. Reception is in fact the b...

Just returned from Portinatx Thursday morning (18th Oct) and have to say that is was marvellous. The owners are lovely people the food is great and the views from the apartments and bar, which overlook the beach are excellent. Also it is the cleanest place I have ever stayed in, that includes the swimming pool, which is on the roof of the second floor.
The beach is right on the doorstep if you like a safe cove to swim in ...well this is it. A must have is a mask or goggles to see the thousands of fish that start to appear within a couple of yards of the beach and if you want to learn how to snorkel this is a great place to start because the rocks are perfect to explore starting in only 3 feet of water....'Ollie' the octopus is around in waist deep water on a large rock and many youngsters were thrilled when I showed them where he lived....his 'Big Brother' lives further out to the left of the cove in a cave about 250 yards from the beach...so not for beginners, and always go in pairs or a group if you're inexperienced.
October weather is perfect for me....four really hot sunny days and three mixed bag but plenty of sunshine too, and no rain during the day. it did rain one evening and three times overnight, perfect timing.
Good luck to Maria, Toni and everyone with going private next year....Thompsons customers will be missing out but I understand the owners' reasons for leaving them.
Sorry this is short but to sum up...perfect, thankyou.

Room Tip: All are good to be honest...one of the couples there were in their 23rd year at Es puet Blanc apartm...

This was our first time at Es Puet Blanc and Portinatx. We had a lovely time. Maria,Toni,Jordi and Teresa were brilliant. They were great with our two boys. Our apartment was spotless and well equiped.Plenty of room for the four of us.Sun terrace and pool was lovely and quiet, except when our two boys were having diving contests. The terrace gets the sun till much later than the beach. The restaurant was great, friendly service with really nice food.Really good for snorkelling, lots of fish to see.Portinatx is quite hilly, take it easy and its ok.The Hotel is built on a hill and has quite alot of steps, how many depends on which apartment you are in.1 to 7 above restaurant, below pool, not many steps either way.8 to 16 above pool, quite a way down to the restaurant and beach. There are two ATMs in the square, used one once, took card slowly. We were warned that they were temperamental and sometimes keep the cards.Boozy buys were cheaper than airport duty free drink, also offered cash back.Roses supermarket, small, but cheaper than closer SPAR shop, just past Del Boys in the square.A busy resort, but still lovely and relaxed. Will definately return in the future. Would recomend the Es Puet Blanc and Portinatx.

Our second stay at Es Puet Blanc and as good as the first, Maria & Toni are going independent next season and I wish them all the best with their new venture.
As before we could not fault anything about the accommodation and Portinatx, a perfect place to chill out for a week.
We love Ibiza and wouldn't be surprised to see us there again next year

Although we had a few teething problems with the stay I would recommend this area for young families and the apartment was perfect for us as it meant we were not restricted by the hotel or restaurant meal times. Locally the restaurants close between 5-7pm for food which meant for us it didn't work for us to have a family meal with our 1 year old.
The apartment was clean and practical however it would have helped it we'd had a highchair which the restaurant for the same apartments did have. We would have even hired it as we did with the fans. The apartments aren't air conditioned and with a 6 degree heat wave it was very warm but Maria and Tony sorted out two fans and we slept much better. They are looking at putting in air conditioning. The only other issue we had was the travel cot which was a delapidated wooded thing but after asking they soon changed to a practically brand new material one.
As for the resort 1 week with out a car is fine but any more I think you'd go stir crazy. Its small and perfect for young familes with an excellent beach but the restaurants were all serving the same food. Would I go back - Yes for a week to relax.
One more thing to mention although the resort is a family one there are hundreds of steps everywhere! Ask for a low level apartment otherwise its a big trek!

Room Tip: If have a buggy or small children a low level one as lots of steps and no lift

We have just returned, after visiting these apartments for 6 days for the first time, having flown in from Marbella Southern Spain which took just 45 mins flight. We hired a GoldCar vehicle due to only having a debit card and not a credit card but their petrol policy of picking up vehicle full and returning empty ensured the P 206 car still had over 40 euro’s of fuel left in,(charged 85 euros fuel) even though we used it every day and did over 450 kilometers, which is quiet a task on Ibiza given its only 22 kilometers from Ibiza town in the South to Portinax in the North!

Maria, Tony and the gang could not have been more friendly or accommodating, on arrival and throughout our stay. As stated elsewhere the food and Bar was good and priced in keeping with those found elsewhere in Portinax, which due to the captive market tends to be a little higher priced than most other Ibiza resorts(for those on a real budget Cala Longa on the west was half the prices of Portinax!). We found the half roast chicken , chips & salad at 9 euro’s (less 10% main diner meal discount offered by the apartments) hence 8 euro’s, both good value and very well cooked....Delicious.

It is worth mentioning that whilst eating out, we found within walking distance, what must rate as the best tasting and presented meal we have ever had (I have been in catering all my life) in the GARDEN Grill & Restaurant which is just on the main road, off the side road leading to the apartments. It looked closed from outside but persevering we sat alone in the outside area and Andrew from Majorca offered us his limited menu.....but wow ...unbelievable !!!! and not too expensive ....Do not be put off by quiet look it’s an experience to uphold, its just a shame that his good lady front of house, is not quite as switched on but her pleasant friendly nature, will get her by! and there is always the parrot in the attractive garden to call on.

For a nice meal at a similar price try the Sa ARENA Restaurant first floor up the stairs on the main road nr the square, this offered good food, great friendly service and fantastic views, with that special restaurant eating out feeling. Back to:

Our middle apartment of three was on the second floor directly below the nice swimming pool and its ample terrace. We found this position less favorable due to 2 things. The first was the staff unstacking the sun loungers on the pool terrace around 8.30 am each morning, which were dragged to their position around the pool and the noise directly beneath I’m sure, woke, not only ourselves but those on either side of us. They would be better either leaving them out in situ or lift and place, rather than drag to their resting position.

Our second gripe was not helped by the heat wave we endured. We are use to very high temperatures due to our living in Spain but this middle apartment only had a rear corridor window, which we felt could not be left open, due to security and the front terrace window, so the day time heat around 36 degrees, even with the shutters down, ensured a sleepless night, even though we had packed our own compact super fan (knowing the rental ones would not be as good & confirmed by other guests). It would not cost much for Maria to fit ceiling fans over the beds, as a ceiling light is available for easy fit. I feel hiring fans is a short term gain.

We found the room’s spotless clean and adequately equipped with iron, hairdryer and although the furniture is a little aged, it was in good condition. Our only gripe being the bed mattresses which are very hard and when combined with the heat of the room ensured a sleepless night!

Adequate bed linen was provided, although it’s got to be said, the sheets could do with replacing, before holes appear, although like the towels were clean.

All in all it is a well run establishment, in a fantastic beach position, great hosts and although Thomson’s are not involved next year, should continue to attract guests. If the above inexpensive issues were addressed, we would be amongst them.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the middle rooms, outer rooms have secure side windows for better air flow. All rooms fa...
