“DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR”

My partner and I just returned 25/10/13, last week of the season, the service was excellent, the activities included, archery, rifle/pistol shooting, darts, table tennis, tennis, football, kayaks, mountain biking, the nightly shows were great, food was good and varied, and hotel and rooms spotless, if you are looking to go to Ibiza, Portinatx, itself is lovely, this this hotel has all you need, from couples to families, everyone has fun, can understand why people keep returning, I will certainly will.

Room Tip: Drop reservations an email, you can also upgrade to superior room, gives access to rooftop terrace.

This hotel is clean and tidy tharscsbiut all you can say as a positive . The negatives well where do I start the food as another holiday maker was heard saying same [--] different day. The food is reheated from day to day even the fish. The choice of chicken or pork every day cooked in anyway possible as for desserts there was jelly left sitting from the thursday till the monday. The staff in the restaurant were mostly friendly except one woman who walked around lifting up plates even when they were still eating this happened to myself and I was left sitting with my knife and fotk. The entertainment during the day you are hassled to take part in activities its the only all inclusive I know where you have to pay for the activities such as mountain biking and kayaking so much for a relaxing holiday. The evening entertainment was ok the shows were enjoyable.the best part of this hotel is the area its located in,

Just returned from a relaxing break with my partner. We had previously stayed in Puerto San Miguel last year and had heard glowing reports of this hotel and decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Portinatx is a lovely secluded area with beautiful views and beach.

The hotel is set up a hill and it has lots of steps, as others have said before. I think this hotel would struggle to accommodate a guest with a wheelchair as there are very few ramps available and this would restrict the areas of the hotel which could be accessed. There is plenty of choice on the all inclusive menu, the restaurant serves buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I can't see how anyone could not find something to eat. Yes some of the food was predictable, as in salad, bread, rice etc but it is definitely possible to have a different meal for a full seven nights. Anyone who is a sea food lover would be in their element as there was fish every day, as well as a few meat dishes and pasta and potatoes, we enjoyed the food and had no complaints. The snack bar by the pool serves a small salad selection, breads, fruit and snacks like chips and chicken nuggets etc, typical snack food nothing to rave about but filling all the same, except for the ham and cheese toasties, they were delicious! By far my favourite part of the eating was the desserts, I usually find the desserts on holiday way too sweet for my taste, but these desserts were yummy lots of little cakes filled with apple and shortbread biscuits filled with spices, they tasted like Christmas! There are fizzy drink machines in the hotel and coffee machines which are self service which is great no queuing for non alcoholic drinks and ice creams available from a freezer for self service also. Alcoholic drinks will blow your head off so be careful, I asked for smaller measures having woken up with a very sore head one morning. The cocktails are pre-made and nice (not fab just nice), served in plastic cups during the day and glasses at night. The beer didn't go down well with the other half, Cruz Campo which he has had before, but it was warm and not very nice, so poor thing had to drink vodka and pepsi light! The entertainment in the hotel is a bit naff, the animation team do a lot of dancing to songs from a poor recording of the original artist, but all credit to them, they do a great job, they are there from early morning until 12.30 at night and never stop all day long. There are lots of activities if you want to join in fine, if not they do not pester you. They have a water ball for the main pool (like a zorb ball) which costs 5 euro and this is hysterical to watch, but this is the only thing for which I saw an additional charge, kyaks on the private beach, table tennis, archery, pistol shooting, darts and lots more all provided free of charge. Three pools, one for babies, a main pool which is lovely and a private pool which is not adult exclusive but most of the children used the main pool, only thing is it is quite shaded and you need to move the sunbeds quite a lot during the day. The whole complex does tend to be quite shaded there are lots of trees and shrubbery and we were tormented by flies which was a bit horrible.
Portinatx itself is a small square with a few bars and few shops. We were there from 8 Oct - 15 Oct and one of the main bars Vincents which has a tribute act on each night closed on 11th so we only visited twice during our stay, craic was brilliant and worth a visit. Del Boys will be closing on 31 Oct for the season. Quite a few of the shops were either closed or closing also during our stay. This didn't bother us as we were looking for a relaxing break and not bothered about heading out of the hotel much, but there were a few surprised faces from some who arrived over the weekend and discovered that the town was so quiet. However, around the beach walk there are a few lovely little bars which have tables and umbrellas outside where you can sit and have a drink, a proper cocktail with umbrellas and sparklers by the sea for around 6 euro and these were lovely places to sit and relax, they also serve food but we ate in the hotel so cannot comment on this.
All in all we got what we went for, a lovely chilled relaxing break and I would definitely recommend this hotel and area for those looking for the same. If looking for a bit more of a night life this might not be the place for you as it is isolated and the buses are very infrequent and taxis are expensive. A taxi from the town to the hotel is 7 euro each way, but is about a 5/10 min walk if able to walk down hill and steps. We met some lovely people and the hotel staff are accommodating and helpful; in particular my partner being a footballer, wanted to go to a local football match in Santa Elulia to watch SE play Andalucia but we were having difficulty finding out what time it would be played (we knew the day) and how to get there as only one bus, we checked with reception who did not know, but the receptionist phoned his friend who knew all the details of what time it was on and how to get to the ground, and I thought that was a little touch which showed how the staff stood out. A taxi to and from SE would cost 30 euro each way so we hired a scooter for 30 euro and headed off to a beach down the island and finished off the day at the footie match, a perfect little day.

Room Tip: we were in room 242 which is just off reception, great location but under the restaurant which can b...

My husband and 2 boys aged 18 and 10 have just returned in the early hours of this morning from our 6th year at this fabby hotel. My other reviews really say it all so all I feel I need to do now is reiterate everything I've ever said before in support of what I can only describe as a gem of a hotel in one of the nicest areas of Ibiza you could be fortunate enough to holiday in. We met old friends who, like us, continue to return each year as well as forging new friendships with people who had come for the first time. As always the animation team, bar, restuarant, reception and domestic staff couldn't do enough for you and are definetly a big reason why we have, and will continue to, return to Club Hotel Portinatx. Bless you all xxx

Visited August'13 for the 6th time and was a lovely holiday. It was the first time we had visited at this time of year so was new to us. The weather was scorching! 38 degrees every day for 2 weeks which was great. The hotel is situated in a perfect location minutes walk from the first beach in Portinatx and a pleasant 10 min walk to Portinatx where you will find bars, shops, restaurants etc. The hotel is a lovely place to be, has 2 good size pools, its own private beach and 2 bars (1 beach bar). The entertainment team did a great job as per usual thanks to Olivier, Edu, Andra, Fabio, Jarrik, Adie, Brecht, Stephie and Michaela. Working throughout the day then putting on a quality show at the end of the day. Every time we have been it has always been so friendly and a lovely place to be. We will defiantly return soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in the block by the staff, has some lovely views and very quiet (Seen in one of the pics)

This hotel is set amongst stunning surroundings with views of the sea. For an extra 126 Euros you can upgrade to a room with a sea view, which will also get you some privacy when sitting on your balcony of an evening.

The food is fine and plentiful with hard working staff around. I found the staff in general were a little miserable and probably tired after a long season. Rent a car and go out and about as the island is beautiful. The entertainment was basic so you may want to pop to Portinatx of an evening which is about 10 minutes walk away.

I can't show much enthusiam for this hotel.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money for privacy and sea view.

I had read the previous comments about the sea view rooms, and emailed the day before arrival asking for one. It was 20 euros a night, but I think worth it because of the view and the quiet location well away from the other rooms. The only downside (as with the whole hotel) was the number of steps that had to be negotiated with the bags at arrival and (in the dark) at departure.
The food in the restaurant was mostly very good, and there is also an outside snack bar operating all afternoon, which seemed to be very popular with the numerous, more porcine, guests.
Unusually, there were more than enough sunbeds, but the two pools were quite cramped, and I imagine people would be lying on top of each other in the high season.
The drinks arrangements weren't very good, only one bar and beer served in small plastic cups, but the service was usually quite quick, even if some of the barmen seemed a bit miserable. Maybe it was because it was the end of the season.
Overall, a nice enough hotel, but suffering the same problem as a lot of the older Ibiza/Majorca properties - as the hotels have been forced to convert to all-inclusive, the majority of the guests tend to hang around the common areas all day, every day, to consume the included food and drink, whereas previously a good proportion would have gone outside to other beaches, bars and restaurants. So the common areas such as the pools and bar tend to be inadequate for the demand.
