“"Good hotel - next to the beach"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2012

Stayed for 10 nights from 23/05/12 with partner and 1 child. A very clean and tidy, well run hotel with direct access to the beach via a few steps. food was good with an excellent choice (something for everyone). Waterpark next door is part of hotel complex, so free entry and drinks! Evening entertainment was OK! (just) but kids seemed to like it. Portinax is very charming and picturesque resort and well worth seeing. I would recommend this hotel to families and would certainly go again.

we stayed here for one week from 22/5/12 we were a family of 5 (mum - dad - kids aged 13-21)
we received a very warm welcome and our first impressions were of a nice clean hotel.
Staff - 10/10 with the exception of a few older barmen who it would appear hate kids (think "the children catcher on chitty chitty bang bang") .
cleanliness 10/10 - there was always someone cleaning the floors and windows and the rooms were spotlessly cleaned every day.
food 9/10 - i would describe the food as excellent canteen food. it had show cooking with salmon/sea bass/cod/swordfish etc and various cuts of meat. there were lots of salad dishes and the pizza was excellent for the children. There was fresh bread everyday. the breakfast was ok but not v good for vegetarians. i have to say that by the end of the week i was craving a good bottle of wine and some spicy food.
the wine was drinkable and the cold beer v nice. the cocktails on the bar in a big dish were nice but having to use a plastic cup took the edge off the drink being special.
outside 5/10 - needs to be updated. I have to say that the swimming pool was NOT COLD - it was lovely to dive into the water (woops diving not allowed - it wasn't me) the slides were fine but very rickety.
i was glad of the steps due to the amount i ate, if i had a buggy i would have been fed up of them but the hotel was on the side of a hill so its to be expected.
there were children everywhere - which made me think its nice that they can have a good holiday in a hotel which is right on the most wonderful beach i have ever seen in the med.
there may have been a few noisy children , but you get that everywhere (apart from 5* adults only hotels ) i mainly saw cute kids being well cared for by their young parents (loads of dads looking after their tots in a way which would suggest they were used to it unlike the type who go to centre parcs and like to play the job of "brilliant dad for the week" and seem to be doing a good job whilst managing to keep their jumper over their shoulder)
all in all a very good budget holiday for families, the beach is lovely - nice and safe shallow cool water where you can stand and be surrounded by big fishes swimming around your legs there is a shower on the beach or simply nip to the slides to wash the salt water off. p.s the coffee from behind the bar is best.

Room Tip: paying extra for a sea view is worth it.

just returned from el greco and would def return. hotel is very clean and tidy. there was plenty choices available at meal times as well as pizza/pasta there was fresh fish and meat cooked at lunch and evening meal times. the staff were freindly and helpful and there was daytime games for both kids and adults. the water park across the way is good as well. water in pool was a bit cold but you get used to it. quite a lot of steps so be warned. excelant value for money

Upon arrival check in was quick and the staff friendly. However when viewing our room for the first time found that the bathroom had not been cleaned suficiently from previous guests and the room was situated right above reception, making this a very noisey location due to coach drop offs and pick ups. The plus side to the room is it was one of the larger rooms with two double beds between the two of us. We asked to look at another room and an older woman working on reception staff was quite unfriendly towards us for it. The second room we were given overlooked the entrance to the Hotel behind the El Greco, the Presidente, so this wouldnt fix the noise issue and the patio door to this room did not lock. Decided to keep original room and speak to our Rep at some point in the holiday if needed. Baught a safe for the room at 47 euros 5 given back to you on checkout. Thought the price of the safe was quite extortionate, but a must.

The hotel itself is very clean and had its own waterpark and is situated in quite a hilly area, lots of steps from Hotel to beach and from beach to restaurants, shops, bars and taxi rank across from hotel. There are 57 steps from hotel enterance to beach in all (we counted!) helps you work off all the inclusive food and alcohol, lots of families with push chairs around so the stairs didnt seem to be a big issue. The waterpark is free to all inclusive guests of the El Greco and is straight across from the hotel, can see if from the hotel pool and dining room. It has a sun bathing space for the parents and its own bar which offers your drinks and ice creams. Has 5 bigs slides and a baby slide, also a smaller pool for the little ones. Apart from the Life gaurds being a little whistle happy, great fun.

The hotel also has a picturesque beach literally steps away, offering watersports such as bannanna boat, kayaks and pedlos, fish everywhere makes for great snorkeling and lots of men fishing. We took some bread down and fed the fish and we were surrounded, got some great photos. If you turn left at the taxi rank there is a restaurante offering Mini Golf for 2.50 euros each and also leads down to the pick up point for a Glass Bottom Boat excursion costing 10 Euros adults 5 euros for children but to be honest this boat ride offers better veiws of the Ibiza coast line then marine life, moslty see coral and the sea floor, we saw more fish feeding them at the beach, but as there isnt much to offer in the area activity wise in surrounding area doesnt hurt a visit, did see a ship wreck in the last 10 mins of the tour which is deffinately the highlight.

Couldnt compain at the food and drink offered at the hotel, great variety of dishes, continental or English fry up at breakfast, Lunch always offered pizzas, burgers and chips plus meat and fish dishes, show cooking with each sitting, omlettes at breakfast, burgers and or either fish or meat at lunch and same for dinner, each sitting also offered fresh fruit and a self serve drinks area, lager and soft drinks and sometimes champange. The service in the dinning room was very efficient removing your empty plates and glasses more or less as soon as you emptied them. Towards the end of the stay, had to be wait to be seated as hotel was becoming very busy.
The bars offered your lager and a few cocktails, also had big bowls of cocktails on bar for people to help themselves which was great. The bar staff were excellent. Really friendly and excellent service especially Mario (the Legend) who after getting to know our usual order would have it ready when he saw us walking towards the bar. Couldnt praise more.

Very good varied entertainment during day for adults and children, killer darts, killer pool, beach football, races on slides at warterpark, table tennis etc, the winner of these activties would have to get up on stage and receive a certificate that night. The entertainment at night is really aimed towards children kids disco till around 9 which was always the same songs and then bingo was played straight after which all became a bit repetitive. The female entertainers were quite difficult to understand somtimes they all spoke different languages for the all the nationalities that stayed here and English was their strongest.

After 11pm when all inclusive stopped you could pay for drinks until the bar shut at midnight or could visit the two bars a short walk away these were Vincents and Del Boys. Vincents had the same entertainer each night but the entertainment woul be differenti.e Elvis Night, Karaoke, Quiz Night etc. This bar was the loudest and would attract most of the attention away from Del Boys an English bar who for unknown reasons have had their kitchen closed and their entertainment licence taken away, which meant they could only offer music from music channels on the tv, but was cheaper then Vincents and offered a pool table and a quiet relaxed night. Great people would reccomend a visit.

All in all a very good holiday, the hotel great but the surronding area does not offer much for younger quests. If we ever returned to this Hotel it would be with kids of our own.

Room Tip: Ask for sea veiw or pool veiw.

We booked this hotel very last minute - it was very reasonably priced, and the reviews sounded OK. It was actually an excellant choice. The staff were all great, but especially the receptionists, who went out of their way to ensure our stay was pleasant. The food was plentiful, varied, and of a good standard. Our room was cleaned daily, and bedlinen and towels changed regularly. In fact the whole hotel was always clean and tidy.
The hotel is set in the cliffside overlooking a beautiful safe beach, so of course there are steps down to it - but they are quite wide steps! The area is stunning, very quiet, and peaceful - the sunsets amazing.
The only downside for us was the number of children! As the mother of three sons and an ex "brown owl" I am use to children, but was amazed at how many parents just switched off and left them to it. There wasn't anywhere for adults only to have a quiet drink or just chat. The entertainment was geared to families with the emphasis on children.Whilst I admire the fact that chidren are so well catered for, it would have been nice to have had some "adults only "space.
All in all we had a wonderful holiday, and would recommend it
