We did the classic tour here which run on the hour and is free to do. Our guide was faultless...smiley, friendly, enthusiastic, informative and bi-lingual which was most impressive. the tour lasted an hour and gave us a basic overview of the huge distillery (did you know that the trees surrounding the site have turned black because of the alcohol in the air?!). Tasted 3 whisky's at the end which I didn't expect on a free tour.
The grounds are imaculate and impressive in themselves.
The cafe was spotless and in a stunning converted building. Reasonably priced and high quality food and drinks and the service was quick but not rushed.
Faultless was to spend a couple of hours even if you don't like whisky!

“Great tour”
Reviewed July 19, 2014 via mobile

We had limited time to travel this region, and chose to do the free classic tour in lieu of the paid tour, only for the sake of time. We got a solid hour tour, complete with a sample of 3 small shots of whisky. Amazing!

“An awesome tour!”
Reviewed July 18, 2014

We visited this distillery because we love Glenfiddich whisky and to our surprise the one-hour tour was free. Connor, the outgoing tour leader was great and answered all our questions patiently and in detail. The cherry on the cake was when we sampled three drams at the end of the tour. Fantastic!

“Enjoyable and popular”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

The Glenfiddich distillery has a massive output of 13,000,000 litres of pure alcohol per year and clearly has a massive influx of visitors.

The complimentry tour is free, and they have a few more options of tours at various prices. We took the free tour, and in reflection, it might have been better to go for one of the paid options for a more personal experience.

The staff were pleasant and friendly. After the initial film viewing, there seemed to be some confusion as to which visitors would be going with each tour guide, and considering that some visitors were on the paid tours, it looked a little shabby and clearly lacked the same streamlined business model that their whisky producing follows.

The tour ended with 3 sample tastings, and after cleaning one glass, I decided to ask for the othe dirty glass to be replaced; it still had lipstick on it from the previous user.

So disorganised structure to the end of video presentation and provided with dirty glasses for the tasting has knocked down the rating a little, but the rating had to be knocked down again after visiting the distillery shop.

£9-99 for a mug, £9-99 for a pen, not even a proper photograph postcard of the distillery for sale. Whilst being well stocked with whisky, the price of keepsake goods was just a joke. For £9-99, I would expect the mug to at least be made of fine bone china, not regular bakeware.

Worth a visit if this is your whisky of liking, but probably worth paying for an upgraded tour. If you want a great selection of goods at realistic prices, then the Glenlivet Distillery is the place to go to.

As with most of the other distilleries that were visited, the range and price of whisky was good, apart from the one bottle that cost £20,000 ; but if it's 50 year old that you drink, you'll be accustomed with such prices.
