Owner description: The Keith and Dufftown railway is one of the most Northerly preserved railways in the country, and one of the longest and most scenic. With over 10 miles of line your journey takes you from Dufftown station, past the Glenfiddich distillery and over the famous Glenfidich viaduct. You then travel up the long climb called parkmore hill which is surrounded by spectacular scenery up into the mountains, At the top you pass along the banks of Loch Park, a mile long resevoir only properly viewed from the railway with its spectacular wildlife. Then past Drummuir castle and on to Drummuir station, And that's only half way....

We were invited for a private whisky tasting on the Keith to Dufftown Railway. Organised by a local whisky enthusiast a group of 7 friends and enjoyed 6 great drams en-route whilst viewing the beautiful scenery between the two towns. The first class compartment was pre-ordered by our friend. I understand that more of these can be arranged. Thank you for a great trip.

We were at a loose end on a wet day, and thought this would be a good way to escape the weather with 2 dogs. The journey was very pretty, parking and service very easy and friendly. The ticket collector gave us quite a thorough commentary on the area and the line's history, and answered other questions too. the tearoom in an old carriage is a good place to have a snack or light meal, ad the staff are also happy to chat when they have time.

A last minute decision to ride the train on Saturday instead of the following day we did not think we had time to sit in the superb buffet coach so asked if it was okay to get a carry out. No problem and everything was on proper plates, lovely china mugs and on a tray. Once we finished we were just to hand in back to the guard. As it turned out we had time to return everything before the train left.

The line is most attractive and while they do not have steam trains the views out of the classic old diesel units afford superb views of the countryside. At Drummuir the train stops for a few minutes and we were treated to the wonderful sight of two red squirrels running about the trees. I am 61 and have never seen them before-incredible.

Keith Town station is a modern replica of the original and has to be seen to be believed. Everyone is so friendly and if in the area a trip is a MUST

Very friendly staff and a slow but picturesque ride. You might even see deer if you sit near the front.
