Booking a last minute weekend, we were spoiled by the staff. Big luxurious room, exellent service, a nice spa, honest Austrian diner, good wine and a large breakfast. The hotel is located on the ski slope ! It's just a few steps from the ski room to the slopes...

We stayed at Schwaigerhof for 4 nights over Christmas in Dec 2009 and had a wonderful time. Going skiing at Christmas time meant that my partner and I wanted to stay somewhere special and we couldn't have picked a better hotel! When choosing our hotel, we were doubting between Schladming or staying in Rohrmoos and we were very happy with our choice. You can ski straight from the hotel onto the slopes, which is ideal. It's also very easy to ski to the Schladming slopes. The hotel is family-owned and both owners and staff were very welcoming and accommodating. As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel has great facilities. We loved being able to go for a swim - even in the outdoor pool amidst the snow - and relaxing in the sauna and steamroom after a day's skiing. The hotel provides bathrobes and slippers in the rooms for when visiting the pool area. Every morning we were given our dinner options - at least three to choose from with always a vegetarian option or fish dish. The salad bar was also great, with plenty of choice. Breakfast was the same - great buffet with plenty of choice even for non-meat eaters. The rooms were wonderful, quite big, modern and very clean. We love staying in luxury hotels and Schwaigerhof was definitely a great choice - I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great Location: The hotel is besides the training slope and a lift, which connects to an extensive network of other lifts. From the ski room to the lift there are only a few steps. The instructors also come there to take you at the time of your appointment.
Very good SPA facilities: Outdoor and Indoor swimming pool, several types of saunas and relaxing rooms are very well run. The wellness area has a beautiful view on the mountains.
Excellent food: Everyday the visitors get to choose from a menu of 2-3 options (there is always an option for vegetarians). The food is excellent!
Rooms: Comfortable and clean. What I personally don't like is the bed which was a combination of two separate beds to make one. The cover was also separate. The rooms are not perfect, but at the end, you don't spend much time in there.
Staff: All staff speaks English, and they are quite friendly.
Downsides: There are very few. There is no internet connection in the rooms. It is only available in the lobby and for a charge (although not expensive). Also, the hotel has an interesting policy: every room gets a designated table for breakfast/dinner in the restaurant area. It is a way of communicating with the guests: they put a paper to your table, where you choose your menu and can read the weather, the events of the day, some tips, etc. However, sitting at the same table everyday is a bit boring and it forces guests to communicate with neighbor tables because you see the same people everyday.
I would suggest Schwaigerhof without any concerns.

We stayed at this hotel with our two small children. Given that it is right next to a ski-school slope and small lift, that was ideal as we neither had to drive nor walk long distances to the lift. The hotel also has two separate children playrooms next to the entrance. The hotel is composed of two buildings, we stayed in the older one where rooms are OK but not that big or luxurious. Very good pool & wellness area. Decent food, although the service in the evening can be a bit slow if the restaurant is full. Very limited wine list. Ordering drinks from the bar is expensive, as is the wifi connection in the lobby.
