The Wheatsheaf Hotel was both a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay but the highlight is the quality of the food. A quiet drink in front of a warm fire on a chilly January Saturday followed by meal of locally sourced scallops and monkfish among other delicacies was most memorable. Room no 7 was lovely - warm, spacious with a large bathroom with both bath and shower. Molton Brown toiletaries too - and not in little bottles or sachets. All in all, this is a lovely place to stay in both Summer or Winter but bear in mind that Swinton is a tiny village and there is nothing to do there however it does provide a good base to get to Kelso, Duns, Berwick or to visit all the historic houses in the borders. Breakfast was fresh and unlike the mass produced stuff in some places was made to order and the menu tells you of the sources of the produce. The staff were delightful. Service was friendly but never intrusive. We had a great time. Our 3rd visit.
