This hotel came up to all expectations. A small mix-up at registration, but this was only because the girls at reception were trying to be helpful. Transport is required to reach Albert from this Hotel ( approx. 2 Km ) but having said that the bar and restaurant are both good so we spent the afternoon in Albert ( well worth a visit ) and had a couple of beers and dinner in the hotel that evening. If you are in this area visiting or researching War Graves this is an ideal location. The rooms are spotless and the beds comfortable, and the area is very quiet, so you can expect a peaceful nights' sleep. Recommended.

The Ibis, Albert is a standard and typical 3 star French Ibis. Rooms are clean, comfortable and functional without being anything fancy. Staff although a bit thin on the ground are welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Breakfasts are good with an adequate range of cereals, yogurts, breads, cheeses and cold meats, fresh orange juice and some fresh fruits. More interesting items include warm Spanish tortilla and Normandy rice pudding. Coffee from the machine was surprisingly good quality.

The location is good in terms of ease of finding, parking and visiting The Somme. However it is a good 2km out of town, next to an industrial estate and if you fancy walking, it is a rather tedious trek without proper pavements near the hotel. After doing it once both ways, we decided the 5 euro taxi ride each way was the way to do it, especially as the weather was poor.

We had dinner one evening in the restaurant and it was awful. First of all the cheaper set menus were not available although it does not say that anywhere. Then the Basque Chicken (with French Fries - no option) that we both chose was the worst meal we have had in France for a good many years. I would guess it is a mass produced frozen product, defrosted then heated in the microwave to order. Tasteless and chewy chicken, sludge-like veg, and tasteless rubbery french fries. We would have been better and cheaper going across the road to McD's and that is sad indictment on any restaurant.

Although there is nothing wrong with the actual accommodation, I doubt if we would go back to this hotel due to its location and the exceptionally bad restaurant.

We stayed at this Ibis for 2 nights and found it ideally located to explore the Somme. As we have come to expect of Ibis the staff were very helpful and friendly. The place was clean and tidy and had everything we needed including a substantial breakfast. We did eat in both nights and found the food fine - we knew it wouldn't be exactly gourmet standard but we quite enjoyed it and it was well cooked and presented.

Room Tip: The location of the hotel means that you wouldn't have any noise problems whichever room you cho...

This is exactly the sort of hotel you would expect. A good basic traveller/business hotel at an edge of town location. It was very easy to get to. Reception was efficient although with very low staffing levels they weren't always as attentive as they might be - but that's one reason why the cost is reasonable.

The room was fine if a little small as was the shower room. The major problem was that the toilet cistern had a persistant overflow whoch gave a constant water running noise. We should have reported it I suppose but we were only there for one night so it didn't seem worth bothering about.

The location was good - a short drive to the interesting town of Albert and well located for the Somme battelfields (especially Thiepval where we were going).

Breakfast was a little minimal but fine for this sort of hotel.
