“What a lovely location”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We started our stay in Tassie with 2 nights at the Orana House. Andy was very welcoming and made us feel at home. The room was a good size (Ellen Pearce) though the bathroom was quite small but adequate. The bed was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and spotless. The views from the front garden are quite stunning looking over towards the Tasman Bridge and Mount Wellington. Getting from the airport took around 15-20 minutes and we found it without any difficulty, the sat nav did help..

The breakfasts were very nice and set you up for the day.

We stayed at Orana for three nights prior to going to the west coast of Tassie and 1 night on our return. It is a grand old house built in 1909. The rooms were large, comfortable and spotless with the added bonus of an ensuite bathroom. Lada and Andy were extremely friendly and very very helpful. Free wifi and use of Orana's computer and printer to print boarding tickets was a welcome bonus. Breakfast was available from 6.30am. Most helpful when you have an early start. Lada and Andy were prepared to get up and cook us breakfast at 6.30 if we wished them to but felt that continental was good enough. It was no trouble for them to make restaurant bookings for us and they were more than willing to go the extra mile. Close to the city and the airport but extremely quiet at night when you want to sleep.

Room Tip: The two riverview rooms are lovely

I stayed here with my wife on 12-14 January 2013. This B & B is located quite near the city center, just less than ten minutes by car. Room is not big but clean, quiet and nice with everything we need. Breakfast is good with lots of choices. Car parks are close to the room. You can unload the luggages to the room with very little effort. The House keeper is a very charming young lady always with unforgettable smile. It is so peaceful to walk along the bay within five minutes from this House. I sincerely recommend this House to every traveler.

We had a one night stay here and am only sorry we couldn't stay longer. The room and bathroom were spotless and every comfort had been thought of. The free wifi is a big bonus too.
It's well signposted and easy to find. We had a early flight out (airport is 15 min drive away) and it was no problem for Lada to arrange an early breakfast for us, beautifully presented and a lovely selection, even cooked items which we really weren't expecting. Nothing was too much trouble. U cannot recommend Orana House highly enough.

While a tad steep in price, Orana House is a comfortable, clean, grand old house. It's close to both the airport and Hobart if you have a car, and the breakfast is extensive and tasty. Wi-Fi is free. The owners are very friendly and accommodating..

A good find, Orana House is a comfortable B&B that is within 10 minutes drive of central Hobart, a quick bus ride or a small taxi fare. I stayed here whilst attending the cricket at Blundstone Bellerieve Oval (about 6 km away) for 5 days.

The old house is in terrific condition and has been successfully converted into a number of guest rooms. Some are suitable for singles, couples and families. The bathrooms are very nice and the rooms have a flat screen TV, kettle, tea, coffee plus free wifi.

There is also a large and inviting communal sitting room with a large flat screen and comfy chairs. There is a microwave oven available and soft drinks/water from a fridge for a small cost.

There is a broad verandah with inviting chairs and views across the harbour. The location is great for walking along the Esplanade and the foreshore. The small Lindisfarne Village is a 10 minute walk away.

I only had three small concerns whist there. The TV in the room could not receive all channels, the poached eggs at breakfast were a bit rubbery and occasional noise from the main road could be easily heard. Small matters really and I am very pleased to recommend Orana House.

Clean, comfortable and a great location for this lovely B&B. The rooms are large, well appointed and bathrooms newly renovated. Only 5 minutes to town and 10 minutes from Mona. Staying at Orana is a joy - I will not stay anywhere else in Hobart after the weekend at Orana House.

Room Tip: Make sure you book one of the spa suites - they are terrific.
