“Small relaxed Site”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights after a 7 night stay at a huge site in Spain and the contrast was lovely. It's a very quiet and relaxed site, with a very 'country' feel to it, the shops, restaurant and reception are in lovely stone buildings and there is a small fishing lake and petting zoo.

We arrived late Sunday evening and were able to have a meal in the restaurant, it wasn't too expensive and the food was good and plentiful, there is a bar here also.

The shop is small and only really stocks essentials, the opening hours are short, however there are large supermarkets only a 5-10 minute drive in either direction from the site.
The pool is small but adequate and my kids loved the water slides. There is also a small indoor pool for when the weather cools down.

This site is exceptionally quiet at night.

Would recommend this site as a real escape from the daily grind.

Just returned from an 8 night stay at this site with Thomsom Alfresco. On arrival asked to pay a non refundable 15 euros 25 cents for plastic bands to use the pool. What a rip off! especially as no life guard was present at the pool during our stay.
A beautiful area in which we had a good holiday, but the site does not use its facilities brilliantly. The restaurant had limited opening hours even in August and food was not available even when the restaurant was supposed to be open. We stayed in a Thomson Rossini mobile home which was clean and cmfortable. The site is generally good for primary age children, with our children making lots of friends.
St Cast nearby is a pleasant seaside town with good cafes, Dinan, Dinard, St.Malo and Mont St Michel also worth a visit.
This could be a good site, but it just needs to tighten up its customer experience.

Room Tip: Eurocamp and Thomson mobiles both looked good.

Hello Northernfan.

First, I would like to thank you for giving your opinion about our campsite! I'm glad you had a great time in the Alfresco accomodation!

We saw that you were surprised with the plastic bands. We ask our customers to wear these bands. But what Alfresco ommited to say is that this allows us to check who's from the campsite and who's not. This system is not only used for the swimming pool but also on the entire campsite.

As far as the restaurant is concerned, food is served until 10:30 but you can stay and have a drink until midnight. And if you are hungry during the day, you can take away food from the grocery store.

We would be glad to welcome you again on our campsite! There are loads of other wonderfult places that you have to discover nearby Saint Cast!

See you soon!

Just returned from a 10 day stay at this site. Lots to do on site and in local area. Fantastic beaches, brilliant pools on site, my kids really enjoyed everything on offer - slides, table tennis, bouncy castles etc. I'd avoid buying table tennis bats on site in future as prices steep. Restaurant was brilliant, simple but tasty food, informal but nice atmosphere, perfect for families. Shop had everything you might need in times of desperation, but big supermarket down the road, as well as some stonking farm cider, brewed down the road!
Arrived early but were fobbed off and told to return in afternoon, returned at 12 but they shut the office down and only reopened at 2. We were only camping so didn't really understand their excuse of them having to clean the site. Showers and loos very very good, couldn't be better!

I would not return to this site, however as there was a distinct lack of staff on site. We booked through the French company so went through main reception, friendly enough, but when asked about horse riding we were told to drive for 10 mins to nearest town to use the Tourist Information Office. There were Eurocamp and other holiday reps on site with English information, I suspect they would've been more helpful. My main issue was the lack of staff, there to enforce rules and safety issue. I'm not a 'jobsworth', but there was no-one to enforce noise curfew and I was very unhappy about the lack of consideration from other campers returning from the restaurant or just sat out talking at the tops of their voices. We had one unfortunate night when music blasted from 11 until 3.30 in the morning. It wasn't on site but a few Km away, it was extremely loud, like sitting inside a wedding reception. Even if this couldn't be helped there was just no-one to go to for help or reassurance. A massive shame as we did have a really good holiday and if a bit of noise doesn't bother you then you will have a brilliant time.

Hello!

Thank you for writing a comment about your holidays on our campsite! I bet your children had a great time as there are plenty of activities organised for them!

The reception is open from 9 to 12 and from 14 to 19 and the people who leave the pitches have to be gone by the end of the morning (at 12). As it is written on our rental contracts, for people who arrive, pitches are available from 2 PM. August is usually a busy time and your pitch was probabaly not available when you arrived.

As far as the noise is concerned, the concerts and parties we organise end up at midnight. The barriers that give access to the campsite are closed from 10 pm to 7 am and there is someone who is going around the campsite at night. Because of the size of the site (34 acres), this person cannot have an eye on everything at every moment.

We hope that our answer has been useful and that you will reconsider visiting us again ! We would be pleased to welcome you in Brittany!

We booked the accommodation through Eurocamp. The villa was lovely clean, tidy, and modern. There was plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 children. The Eurocamp girls were brilliant and very helpful. The site is beautiful very quiet and peaceful. The pools were not overly busy so were enjoyable. The only niggle was the 12 euros we had pay for security bracelets that no one seemed to wear and no staff checked. There seemed to be no benefit to them. Apart from that a great site.

Hello!
I'm happy to see that your stay at Galinee was great ! We always try to do our best so that your holidays are as nice as possible.

As I have answered to another comment, you have to wear the plastic bands for security reasons. They allow the campsite staff to see, in a twinkling of an eye, who's from the campsite and who are the people who are here and don't have to!

We would be glad to welcome your for another stauy at the campsite as Brittany has still many things to offer!

This campsite is in a lovely location and we had a really good holiday here. We booked directly with the owners and drove from Calais which took 6-ish hours. The only issue we had with the site was related to our arrival. Our train was delayed at Folkestone and therefore we didn’t arrive at the site until 10pm (travelling since 7am!) we then had a nightmare finding the site, when we did find it, reception was closed, it was pouring with rain and the photocopied map we were given, in combination with tiny signs outside the caravans led to a bit of a nightmare ‘Withnail and I’ style start to our holiday! We didn’t get into the caravan until 10.45. Not good. When we have stayed elsewhere you are led to your caravan particularly if it’s dark and or raining.

The next day we saw what an absolutely beautiful place the campsite is, we were lucky as we were situated near the woods which was very quiet. The outdoor pool is fab, our kids loved it. The indoor is good too, maybe a little small, and as there is no lifeguard no one to stop enthusiastic ball games which people were playing (despite the signs) There is table tennis, mini golf, bouncy castles, a games room and a little farm with chickens and goats which my 1 year old son loved. Tennis was a bit of a disappointment – we took racquets and balls but were told we would have to pay 7 euros to hire the court. For an hour! Mmm this is a bit mean, we have all already paid to stay at the site, I can’t really see the justification for this. The shop is fine but expensive. However, there are supermarkets 10 mins away in Matignon. The caravan was fine, quite well equipped - but be warned there is no kettle! It was OK for us, just a little cramped when the weather was bad. You do have to clean it thoroughly when you leave or risk losing a 250 euro deposit. To wash and dry a load of washing is 8 euros in total but if you have a load of wet towels you haven’t really got a lot of choice.

We didn’t try the club. My husband went down to take my daughters to the disco but said everyone was sat around looking miserable…. Oh dear! This may have been the weather. I did feel very sorry for people in tents - we had a few days of torrential rain. We had some sunny hot days too. This site would be amazing in a heat wave.

The local area is great. St Cast has lovely beaches. We visited Dinan which was beautiful and Mt San Michel which is… well slightly bizarre to be honest. You are directed to a strange re-development just along the road where everyone catches a bus to the island and is basically being ripped off by extortionate shops/restaurants etc. It’s quite strange really as I imagine this was designed to be ‘an improvement’. Mt San Michel itself is lovely though. Matignon is a nice little town and I really recommend going to the Port de Guildo to see the ruins and hiring a donkey for the afternoon. This was really lovely and the countryside is so beautiful (even in the rain!) Look out for the donkey posters. We also bought some veg from the organic farm just next to the site which was really lovely.

We had a lovely time in France and would definitely consider returning to this site again in future. Have a great time, but remember your travel kettle!

Dear NatMac5,

I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay at our campsite ! We are always happy to meet some new people and to welcome them on our site!! Our english friends will be glad to know that kettles may one day appear in our accomodations !

As far as your arrival is concerned, the reception closes at 7.30 PM. So we have left a plan of the campsite with arrows on it showing the way to your rental and your key to your accomodation at the restaurant so that you can have access to it even if you arrive after opening hours. But I can understand that after a many-hours-long travel, you had a hard time finding your accomodation in the dark and in the rain.

We will be glad to see you again in Galinee! There are still plenty of things that you should discover around the campsite !

See you soon!

Lovely countryside location.
Eurocamp staff very helpful and van clean.
Stayed in June UK Half term week
BUT
On arrival have to pay for site plastic arm band, 3 euros 5 cents. Didn't seem to add any value to the customer experience.
Site shop only open 08:30 -12:30 Have to order any bread different to a baguette the day before.
Indoor pool only open 11:00-18:30
One of the outdoor pools had lots of leaves and not seen cleaned when there (3 days).Water clear though.
No security staff/nightwatchman on site. Noisy van nearby till 23:50. Checked with the one person I could find on site , the barman, who advised no staff on site to police the listed 22:30 noise ban.
Crazy golf course looking very tired.
Would return if customer service was more of priority than it currently is.

Hello.

First, I would like to say sorry for answering so late to your comment. We have taken careful note of your opinion about Galinee.

As it is wrtitten on all our rental contracts and on our website, we ask you to wear these plastic bands for security reasons. It allows us to know whos is from the campsite and you should not be on site. We can also check these bands with video surveillance.

When in low-season, shops and the indoor pool are open less longer than in high season but the outdoor pools (heated 26 °c) with its waterslides are open from 10am to 7pm. These pools are cleaned everyday by persons and by robots. We cannot be responsible for the wind which brings leaves from the nearby trees into the pools. Also, if you need something from the shop and that it is closed, you can ask to the reception that has access to it and someone will give you what you need.

As far as noise at night is concerned, there is someone on site who has an eye on the campsite at night. Apparently, the barman did not know about it so we'll take correcting measures to ensure that every staff people knows that he can give a call to the nightwatchman.

I hope my contribution will be useful and that you will reconsider coming back to Galinee!
