This was my second visit to Berry Park and I was really impressed. Regina has made the place even more homely with some fabulous touches, fresh flowers, vintage china, amazing original artwork and a REALLY REALLY comfy bed. The communal areas are even more stunning. We and our 2 large noisy dogs were made very welcome.

“A great place full of character with very frindly proprietors in a quiet beautiful location”
Reviewed July 22, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

If you are looking for a holiday in a quiet location on the North Devon coast yet in easy reach of Devon &Cornwall attractions you find that Berry Park is a unique place to stay. The house is very spacious and very old and full of character, there is a game's room with billard and many books and a solarheated swimming pool in the garden, From the second floor bedrooms you have a magnificent view of Welcombe bay and the paths through the woodlands and along the coast must be among the most beautiful anywhere in the British isles. The apartments are cozy and full of charm and so are, by the way, Regina, Richard and their son Jacob, the proprietors.
We have been coming now since three years and will certainly continue to do so.

“Quiet and Comfortable”
Reviewed September 3, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Poppy at Berry Park had all the facilities we required during our week long stay in a compact but comfortable apartment. We had good communication before our stay with Mike and Val the owners and found the property easily from their directions with plenty of parking available. Its a Victorian house on a lovely plot with great views and is very quiet. Other guests seemed to keep their dogs (and children!) in control. We didnt use the pool, but enjoyed the convenience of eating a home-cooked meal on our first night in the small restaurant that Mike and Val run on site. Good food at a reasonable price with lots of homemade options from vegetables they grow onsite.
The apartment was perfectly adequate for our needs and was good value at the price even in August.
If I'm being very, very picky I would say that it was functionally clean without being spotless e.g few cobwebs and dirt around doorway and behind furniture etc. and the shower could be a bit more powerful, although I must say the bathroom was clean overall and a good size. Note, the toilet seat is a "man-trap" as will not stay up on its own - very annoying. Bed is a standard double and comfortable despite being a lot smaller than we are used to.

Locally we enjoyed lunch at the Old Smithy inn, just down the road, and spend a great day at Hartland Quay ( a must if in the area).

“Poppy at Berry Park - quiet and comfortable”
Reviewed July 4, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Having stayed at Berry Park many times in various apartments and also in the cottages, it was good to enjoy a stay in Poppy. This is a very comfortable and well furnished apartment - compact and quite suitable for a couple. Poppy looks out over the swimming pool to the fields beyond, with stunning views over the Marsland valley

Being fortunate to enjoy beautiful weather, a swim in the pool was a must and the chance to relax with a good book on a sun lounger made the experience all the more enjoyable. Val and Mike are great hosts and endeavour to ensure that one of them is almost always on site. It is always a delight to look around Val's vegetable garden, greenhouses and orchard and to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Val which, in the summer months is served with home grown produce.

Poppy, at Berry Park is a ground floor apartment in this Victorian house. It is the perfect base for a holiday in North Devon. It is also on the border of Cornwall, so conveniently positioned for travel to resorts and attractions in both counties.

Highly recommended!

“Berry Park is a piece of heaven”

After staying for years in Honeysuckle, this year we opted for Poppy as it's so convenient being on the ground floor and great for anyone with limited mobility. It's a cosy, snug and warm retreat, beautifully equipped and maintained, with lovely views over the garden. Once again we were treated to Val's superb cooking (to order, thank you Val) and Mike's convivial bonhomie. There is no better place to retreat from the cares of the world, just to enjoy the silence, dark night skies, beautiful walks both coastal and in the chine through the ancient forest, and the convenient proximity to so many attractions of Devon and Cornwall. Val and Mike make this place perfect; you couldn't wish for kinder, more friendly hosts who guarantee you a perfect welcome. It is a wonderful place to stay at any time of year, and we can't wait to return.
