“Lovely lovely lovely”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

We stayed in the actual hotel and some of my friends stayed in the apartments across the road. We were all extremely happy with the service, food, facilities and location. Beautiful beach just around the corner, a lovely pool and hot tub, everything was cleaned daily above expectation and tv! Would definitely go back.

We stayed in the apartmentos connected to the Doña Lola. We used the hotel facilities regularly. The staff were very helpful and the facilities pool, bar, etc were excellent. Our apartment was good. Lacked one or two things... No coffee maker, bottle opener or decent knives. Very adjacent to fantastic beach. Zahara is a lovely town.. No menus in English . Very Spanish. Lovely food.

We stayed at Dona Lola in September 2011. If you want some peace and tranquility in a gorgeous setting, then this is the place for you. The room was incrediby smart and stylish, clean and comfortable. We had two bathrooms (room 12 perhaps..) so no competition in the morning! The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was no parking on site so we were given a key to a garage a few minutes walk away, which was fine (I can't remember if we had to pay extra). The pool is lovely and it's a short walk to the beach. When the beach got too windy, we came back to the pool. As other people have said, this is a very traditional Spanish resort and not much English is spoken, which makes it totally authentic and very refreshing. We loved it.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony

This is a small typical Spanish Hotel. Its central, free parking and quiet.
We got room number 12. Fantastic room, with 2 double beds and 2 bathrooms. The balcony has a viuw to the street and little of the beach. We was there the first weekend in October 2011. And was blessed with a beatiful weather! The beach was stunning, we could hardly do anythingelse than be there...........We found some small tapas places in the back streets, lovely tapas, not cheap.........but very tasty! The Pizzeria out side the hotel was also nice.
The breakfast was typical Spanish, nothing much.

We stayed at the Dona Lola for 5 nights and used the hotel as a base to explore the surrounding areas. Zahara itself is a great little Spanish resort - hardly anyone speaks English - with a beautiful, wild beach stretching around the bay. Stick to the old town (Atlanterra is very built up at the eastern end - opposite end to where Dona Lola is). The hotel staff were friendly, the pool is very well maintained and the outside jacuzzi is worth a dip!

Our room was on the first floor and was very big. Although our balcony was onto the street rather than hotel gardens, the noise from the street is kept to a minimum from good double glazing. We had no problems being kept awake. We were able to park in the hotel car park for 7 euros a day, but it's very tight for a big car. If you're driving a tank then I'd opt for the very reasonable public car park in the middle of town on the beach - 10 euros for 24 hours.

Only slight grumble is that there was no fridge in the room but it's a small price to pay for an excellent 3 star hotel

I would recommend this hotel as a great location for exploring the Costa de la Luz - specifically, Vejer de la Frontera which is a beautiful mountain top village and the beach at Bolonia which is unspoilt.

Excellent value off-peak...pretty good location, 4 minute stroll to the beach. Good spacious rooms well kept, nice little balconies and a nice pool.
