We stayed in Charroux on a road trip in France and this was the best hotel we stayed in all our trip. The owners were very helpful and friendly. On the day we arrived, we had to check in at midnight and they kindly told us on the phone that we had nothing to worry and that they would wait up for us; something I sincerely appreciate. They also gave us directions to short walking tour around the village and helped us find the next village to stay.
The building was built in the beginning of the19th century but the renovation is done in a comfortable, modern way that matches perfectly the old character. In the morning we had breakfast inside the dining room because it was raining but we could see the garden from the glass wall. Breakfast was fantastic with jams, delicious croissants and home-made yoghurt. But make sure to also try the creperie that the same family runs outside the garden.
Charroux is one of the most beautiful villages in France; you should definitely spend a few hours there, buy local made moustarde and aromatic candles and visit the beautiful bookstore to buy old maps of the area.
