Nice setting. On clear day one can get a nice view of mount Kinabalu. Longhouse was reasonable value. Nice walks around grounds.tea tour was ok - guess u have to do it if you go there. Food so - so. Would recommend overall.

We stayed here are trekking the amazing Mt Kinabalu.

This was a perfect night stop off before we carried onto our next destination. We didn't want to come down from the summit and go back to KK which is frankly not that exciting!

We did stupidly think this place is closer to the national park entrance than it is (may be we were just really achy though!). A cab wasn't difficult to get though.

When we arrived, the place was very calm and serene and beautiful views across the hills. No one else was staying while we were here which added to the whole experience. We decided to stay in the longhouse which isn't really that cheap considering but its was a good experience anyway.

Staff are very nice and helpful and when they told us the longhouse was a 15mins walk away they offered to drive us up instead - they took pity on our aching bodies and groans! Its was a much appreciated gesture!

We were here because of 2 things really - being told of the amazing views of Mt Kinabalu and our love of tea. Both lived up to expectations. The view is great and we even woke early to see sunrise (imagining all those people who got to the summit too). The tea tour was good as well and very informative and we got to try the different tea and received some nice little goodies.

We really enjoyed it here and was a good pit stop instead of KK. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place but its good if you are visiting Mt Kinabalu, on your way to/from KK.

Room Tip: The longhouse is a great experience.

Great location and something different to all the usual mountain lodges and hotels. New rooms are really comfortable and spotless. Food is above average for Sabah and all the staff very friendly. Not the same kind of tea experience as you would get in other countries but if you want to know how the stuff is made then the tour is interesting.

Also great to do some trekking and mountain biking (but no bikes for hire yet).

I stayed just 1 nite at tea garden for my borneo retreat holidays.it took me 2.5 hrs to get there by car from Kota Kinabalu, however i was delighted with the great experience there.
The cottages are simple and comfortable with beautiful natural surrounding, where it facing the mountain kota kinabalu.
When staying day, you must visit the natural fish spa at the river. There are lots of fishes where they actually swim around your legs and feets and 'kissing' them when you put your legs into the river, it provides kind of massage feeling. To me it was a bit tickling and some of the big fishes could actually made you feel like they are 'soft biting' you. I was there only for 3 min as it was not comfortable for me but it was definitely worth trying for once:). Near the river there is also a small canopy walk which is just an easy walk where you could enjoy the river view from the top.

The tea garden view is not as great as Cameron Highland, another famous tea plantation in Malaysia, buy its uniqueness is they are sitting among the mountain of Kota Kinabalu.

Do not expect that the temperature will be so much coolung even it is 2272 feets above sea level, it might be just 1-2 celcius degree differences compare to the ground.

I enjoyed my stay there overall.

A different place to stay - in the hills on a Tea Plantation :-)
Lovely open restaurant with view to Mt Kinabalu (on a clear day)
Rooms are new and spacious with lovely gardens outside the door - but there is obviously more landscaping to be done.
A nice location, but not much to do other than visit the Tea processing plant. You are pretty much restricted to eating at the restaurant.
A great place for getting some washing and drying done - turbo charged fans in bedroom and lounge will dry almost anything overnight - so take a couple of travelling clothes lines :-)
A disadvantage for some will be the walk from the accommodation to the restaurant - 500m one way according to my GPS - up and down hill, rough gravel road - no lighting. Not for those who might be a bit unsteady on their feet.

Room Tip: They are all the same

Staying in longhouse was highlight of childrens holiday, but not for the faint hearted!!

Small Dorm style rooms with 3 matress beds and mossie nets. Bamboo floor leaves you exposed to the local wildlife which can be disconcertng at 3 am!!

Small sink in room, with shared toilet and shower block. good news is that it is one of the few remote hotels in Sabah to have hot water - choose your shower carefully, always go to the one closest to the water heater

As a relaxing retreat, couldn't be beaten, just hope it doesn't rain in the night because tin roof can be deafening when it rains.

Restaurant is approx 500metre walk away, take a torch as no lights to guide you, however well worth it - fantasic location with some of the best views of Mt Kinabalu - Definate recommend this hotel for a great experience, two nights is enough though!!
