“Beautiful setting, warm welcome and comfortable room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

Arrived on a Sunday, they were unable to provide lunch as they were full, but promised to prepare a nice dinner for us. The wait and kitchen staff were so gracious as I believe we were the only guests at the hotel that night. Our table, in front of the warm of the fireplace, which was great since is was cold, was the best table in the house and our server, a lovely gentleman who shared his favorite music (classical) with us, and the meal was savory with local products. Our room was quite comfortable and beautiful.

This is a lovely "castle" - an estate dating back to the 16th century - that has been sensitively transformed into a wonderful relaxing resort with the promise of more amenities on the way. The hospitality of the staff is amazing! Mr. Cefalu and Ellen were infinantly patient with us as we struggled attempting to speak broken Italian.
This is a rural setting - not a beach, not near a city - and after our busy summer was the perfect way to start our holiday. We were greeted with the sweetest fresh fruit (pears, grapes, figs), a bottle of wine and a note from the staff congratulating us on our recent marriage that could not have been more perfect! Our room was functionally furnished and we had the most amazing terrace and views. We spent hours just staring at the mountains around us (okay, maybe they were hills, but I'm from Ohio) and relaxing in the sun.
We woke each morning to the sound of cows being put out to pasture.
We purchased half board (breakfast and dinner) and could not have been more satisfied. Breakfast was an assortment of pastries along with meat and cheese, fruit and yogurt. Mr. Cefalu made the best cappuccino EVER. Dinner was five full courses... antipasta, pasta, meat entree and side, fresh fruit, dessert and cappuccino (again, lovingly made by Mr. Cefalu) and it was all accompanied by a caraf of wine (white was good, red was marginal early in the week). Dinner was always outstanding.
We took a daypack to allow us to hike along the trails (not well marked) and into the town of Monreale. We truly enjoyed it and were just delighted by the assortment of trees, fruits and flowers. We felt like silly kids mooing at cows in the pature, picking fruit by the side of the roads, buying bread from the back of a truck, gawking at the resident pair of ostrich, squawking at the assorted waterfoul and practicing our terrible Italian on the dogs we would meet along the way. But to explore other sites, you will need a car. This is a remote setting... it bears repeating.
During our stay, we were invited to a beautiful wedding and reception at the inn and were welcomed to tour the addition being constructed. By next spring there will be a spa, expanded dining area and another amazing terrace to enjoy yet another breathtaking view.

We will be returning.
We hope to stay longer and take advantage of the onsite cooking class and learn more about Sicily.

Room Tip: you must get a room with a terrace!

When you drive to the Casa it feels like you drive into the middle of nowhere. We really thought we were going the wrong way. Buth when you arive, you will arrive at an amazing place. Use the route-description on the website!

It is a beautifull spot. Ideal for visiting Monreale, Palermo etc.
Diner is very nice. (Breakfast is good, but not so special. But Italians don't have a breakfast culture like we have in the Netherlands, so we were not surprised) And that is good, because it is quite far to go to restaurants etc. We really loved the building, the area, the people. A great way to start our holiday in Sicily. I'm not sure if it's ok to go there when you don't have a car. As said, it is quite remote and I haven't seen a busstop...But when you have a car and you like something different and some peace and quiet, you must visit this beautiful Casa!

Wow. This is the true Sicily "castle" experience. Immaculate in every detail. We stayed two nights using it as a base for exploring Scavi del Monte Jato and Monreale. Beautiful setting in the mountains, 40 minutes from the Palermo airport = DELIGHTFUL! The meals in the evening were the best we had in 2 weeks in Sicily. Oh, MY!

Room Tip: They are all great.

Although the address is Monreale, this agriturismo is actually located in the Jato valley some distance SSW of Palermo and Monreale. The mountainous valley is very picturesque but unfortunately shares the Palermo problem of litter and garbage piled in places. The agritorismo is very comfortable and spacious, the sleeping quarters more modern than the ancient tower they are built onto but still in a rustic style. In addition to the vineyards and orchards, there is an artificial lake/pond and artificial waterfall complete with gnome which may add or subtract from the charm of the place, depending on your tastes. They also have horses and ostriches although the latter didn't appear on the menu as far as I know. Breakfast was good and included delicious cakes and tortes in addition to the usual continental breakfast items. The one dinner we had was good but not great with the antipasti the best part (don't miss the pumpkin caponata). The staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly. The restaurant is popular with the locals for Sunday lunch so expect it to be busy at this time. There are hiking trails nearby in the hills if you can find them.

This special place with extremely gracious host/owner who works tirelessly to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of her guests is wonderful. Spent three nights here that placed too quickly. The food is outstanding and if one is fond of cannolli's you cannot find a better one-anywhere!!!. The house wine and oil are from the vineyardsand groves onsite. The view is fabulous looking out over fam and mountains with trails for the adventurous nearby. Cooking classes are available for four or more. Will return again in the future.

We were there for 3 nights, and is a dream place. If you don't like the confusion of the city and you prefer the country side, don't loose this place. Is around 35km from Palermo but is worth it. The personel is a amazing, the food great, and the rooms are fantastic. Everything is done with attention and good taste. For what you get, the price is meanless.
The owner is a great person, always taking care of you and just before we left she offered us a bottle of olive oil produced by them self.
I will live in that place! Thanks for the wonderful time we spent there.
