“An amazing historic story!!”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

What a lovely experience! This museum not only gives the history of a charming property owned by the Skinners, but you get an in depth look at the events that made Speightstown so very important to Barbados and all Barbadians! This is must! You can't leave here without going there!

“My First Visit .”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

Just over two weeks ago I had the opportunity to accompany a large group of Christian campers to this interactive museum, What a surprise! I had passed this place on many occasions but never entered it. The campers were between the ages of 4-16 and included a number of parents. The reception of the group was friendly and accommodating. My interest was awakened at the outer entrance ,the pillars with interesting fact that greet the visitor is note-worthy. In the reception area (the roof light and graphic depiction of what to expect ).Looking around I stood amazed to see the use of the old windows as a major part of the equipment . There are several interactive display explaining the life and work of people in and around Speightstown through the years( from the early English Occupation ,sugar cane production, the fishing industry and lots more). The whole visit took us three hours .At each level there was a tour guide explaining each section . I recommend a visit to anyone who is truly interested in the history of Speightstion "little Bristol" and its people. I will be visiting again. THE TAKING OF PHOTOS are limited.

“Interesting museum about Speighstown”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

An interesting museum about Speighstown and it's history. Worth a visit, conveniently located in the middle of Speighstown. A little bit over priced though.

“An innovative little museum”
Reviewed June 18, 2014

This was a very well designed museum, with lots of interesting facts and historical stories about the development - and demise of Speightstown from the 1600s - from the Slave plantations onwards. The museum is based in the rennovated house of one of the first English businessmen to exploit Barbados for its sugar and the exhibitions reflect what it was like for the "plantocrats" and slaves alike. It makes extremely good use of old photos and maps and new multi-media techiques, which children will love. My only criticism was the guide ( who is automatic) told us lots of things that we could then discover for ourselves from the exhibitions - and I would have preferred to have gone round at my own pace. Nevertheless, definitely worh a visit for those who want to do more than sit on the beach every day.

“Fascinating”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

A really interesting hi tech look at the history of Barbados. The outside of the building needs a lick of paint and they need to do some marketing to get more people to one of the most interesting attractions in Barbados.
