“One of the best ever”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

After a six hour flight, a 45-minute wait at the airport to get through customs and a white knuckle drive from the airport, the cool cloths given to us when we entered the hotel was a great surprise and delight. And it just got better from here.

Rather than stand at the desk for registration, we were escorted to the lobby bar, seated and given a cool drink while registration was handled.

We were then taken to our room - or rather apartment, as this is an apartment hotel - which seems to be fairly common now in Barbados.

Bedroom was more than large enough for our very comfortable king size bed, dresser and luggage. It had a good sized closet as well. The bathroom was huge with a two-sink vanity and party-sized walk-in shower (no bathtub) with ceiling mounted waterfall shower head.

The kitchen, eating and sitting area was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was fully kitted with stainless steel major appliances - including dishwasher - and small appliances as well as all utensils, pots/pans, dishes, glassware, etc one would need for a long stay. they even provide a basic 'starter' food kit. Clothes washer and dryer are also provided - in the suite.

The balcony was covered to protect from the odd rain shower and fully walled at both ends for comlete privacy. It was large enough to accomodate two full, padded lunge chairs - for those late night drinks - and a round table and 4 chairs for meals as needed.

Marble tile throught.

And absolutely spotless - when we arrived and throughout our stay.

The hotel has a small restaurant - had lunch there once and the food was good. But with the many restaurants only a short walk away in the centre of St' Lawrence Gap this is not an issue. There is also a small grocery store a short block away.

The staff was friendly and helpful. No request was too much.

Next time we come to Barbados - and there will be a next time - we will be looking to come back. Why try anywhere else.

Room Tip: Most rooms face the ocean. We were on the 6th floor - of seven - and it was very quiet. We faced t...

Me and my wife stayed here for 6 nights and had a brilliant time. We had a penthouse 1 bedroom with ocean views, and the room exceeded our expectations in every way. Spotless, space, top amenities, comfortable bed, and great views. The service was impecable. As we arrived early and the room was not ready yet, we even got a free bottle of wine as we had to wait an extra half hour for check-in (with a free complimentary cocktail at the lobby bar). With the amount of great places to eat in the area, we did not use the restaurant much, but overall the food was good. Whatever you do when there, don't miss out on the Oistins fish fry on a Friday night!

Will definitely return to Ocean Two again in the future.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are definitely worth it

I spent the last week of April with my daughter at Ocean Two Resort and we found exactly what we needed:a quiet, elegant, cozy spot in the middle of a piece of heaven. We got the one bedroom apartment (PH 7) facing the ocean and the view was stunning. The suite was spacious and very clean, equipped with a very modern kitchen and bathroom, also with a large balcony we could hear the waves from. The check in was very smooth and Malinda and Kemar's friendly welcome made us feel that we chose right. The staff members were always ready to help, and they all worked hard to maintain this place clean and bright. Many kudos to O'Neal,Patrick and "The Champion"(beach attendants) then Marva's team that kept our rooms spotless.About the restaurant staff I would like to mention Stefon, a very professional and wonderful person with a great smile that made our evenings at the restaurant very pleasant.
Altogether we had a good experience at Ocean Two and we would recommend it to our friends and family. The reason I didn't give maximum rating is because of the restaurant that needs a little bit more organization and more variety with respect to the menu.

Room Tip: Ocean view suites are worth booking

We stayed in a hotel room as infortunatley the suites were outside our budget. The room had nearly everything we needed, there was a massive comfortable bed, TV, lockers, wardrobe, safe deposit box, the bathroom was gorgeous and the rain shower is to die for. The only thing it was missing for us is a small fridge, there is a chair in the room of which there is no use for and this spot would be perfect for the fridge and can be disguised with the same fabulous wood of the bed and desk, therefore would blend in perfectly with its surroundings. The staff did provide us with ice, but we had to keep asking for it, and it is not a great alternative as we all know ice melts!.

The staff of the hotel were fantastic, especially those at reception and the bar/restaurant staff. Everyone was so nice. What we really loved was meeting ye all at the managers party, it is such a great way to meet ye and get some fab tips on where to go on the island and also what to look out for. There was a taxi driver outside the hotel, (he is on their recommended list) I cant remember his name but he also was so nice, brought us to the rum factory one day and took us on a de-tour aswell so we could see more of the island.

The beach was our favourite part, when the temperatures get hotter, the staff come around with water, mint spray and cold towels. I have seen in past posts about the beach being too rough, yes there are some waves but only gentle ones, we used to swim on the left of the rocks, and plus any of you with kids, the rocks have loads of crabs for them to watch. Also on our second last day there was a hatch of baby turtles, which was unreal to see.

The hotel is about 10 mins walk from the gap, some fab restaurants and bars, Pices and Cafe Mexicana were our fav. Some places can be expensive for drink but if watch for the happy hours e.g. Cafe Mexicana Sol, Reggae Lounge, and this place which is in an old car park. When going out at night make sure you wear mosquito repellent, where ever you dont have it on they will bite! they love dark areas so stay in lighted areas.

We really loved Barbados x

We stayed 11 nights in Ocean Two in April 2013. Two adults, two kids in a one-bed ocean view suite. The hotel was perfect for us, I'd struggle to think of anything negative to say about it at all. Great room (actually even better than it looks in the pictures, which is unusual), real ocean view, super staff, right on the beach and near enough to walk to St Lawrence Gap for dinner. The pool/beach area in particular was great, always spotless, comfortable super thick sun-loungers and plenty of beach/pool equipment to borrow when lazing around all day got too much. Having young kids meant that we were looking for somewhere quiet rather than loud night-life, and at night all you can hear is the sound of the ocean and the insects (no idea what...) chirping. We tend not to holiday in the same place year after year, but this is the one place we have been where we would seriously consider going back again for anther stay.

Room Tip: Ocean view suites - decent sofa bed sleeps two and a good size bedroom with an amazing bed. Plus you...

We started our honeymoon in Ocean Two Barbados after a really long flight, and were greeted by the friendliest staff members and the unforgettable Eucalyptus-soaked towels for us to freshen up. And throughout the rest of our trip, it was the little touches like this that really made Ocean Two stand out and made our experience in Barbados spectacular.

Our room was basically a pent-house suite, not unlike a service apartment. The shower room was simply enormous. I'm more of a bath person and was at first rather disappointed that there was no bath, but after experiencing the rain shower head, I looked forward to having the water pour down on me every single morning and evening...

Another of our favourite room features was the huge balcony facing the ocean. On our very first night, we ended up falling asleep on the two large comfy loungers on the balcony, and woke up only a couple of hours later to the sounds of the crashing waves, before making our way back to the bedroom.

The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. It was like sleeping on a cloud.
And the same goes for the sun loungers by the pool. They were big and had the fluffiest cushions on them...great for falling asleep on at all times of the day.

Yes, there was a lot of falling asleep going on. I suppose lazing in the sun by the beach while their attentive staff come round with eucalyptus water sprays and trays of yummy cocktails is tiring business. And the comfort of the resort ensured that we got our rest from the very first day.

The resort is very family-friendly, but there were several couples there too.
What I most liked about it was that it was not too big a resort and was not crowded with people jostling for space.

The only complaint we probably had was the fact that our room was situated right under some machine on the roof top (that was probably for the rooftop pool). This meant a constant buzzing noise that became more apparent in the quiet of the night.

We complained about this to the staff at reception about 2 or 3 times, and they tried to look into it, but didn't seem to get back to us on the problem. To be honest, it could have affected the quality of our sleep, but the bed was so comfortable and we were so tired every night that we slept right through it all. It still would have been nice if the hotel could have sorted out this problem though.

Here are some tips for travellers:

- The taxi ride from the airport should cost you about US$30.

- US dollars are accepted in most places, but if you prefer, Bajan dollars would work too.

- St Lawrence Gap is about 10-15 minute walk away. I really enjoyed the walk back and from the Gap though. Helped with the appetite and digestion.

- The restaurants on the Gap are not cheap, but the food and ambience is good. Be prepared to fork out about US$100 for a dinner for two. The same goes for the restaurant at the hotel.

- Breakfast at the hotel is excellent. However, our travel agent only included a continental breakfast in our package, which essentially means two pastries and a drink. We paid for an upgrade and it's definitely worth it!

- As for dinner, I would highly recommend PIsces on St Lawrence Gap. The service is excellent and the lobster dish is to die for.

Cafe Sol serves good Mexican food and good portions too. We couldn't finish our burrito and fajitas and we got them to 'doggy bag' the leftovers and brought it back to our hotel room for lunch the next day. There are microwave ovens in the rooms, so it makes heating up leftovers really convenient.

- Alternatively, you could buy ingredients and supplies from the nearby supermarket and make your own meals in the room. But do note that groceries are generally not that cheap in Barbados. They rely a lot on imports, which naturally put up the prices. If you want to save, support the local produce and buy local whenever possible.

- Make use of the Happy Hour times at the hotel bar. The milkshakes are fantastic!

- The waters in front of Ocean Two is quite rough. The waves are great fun to play with but it's not for proper swimming. If you like bodysurfing, this could get quite fun.

- If you like chilling in the sun, snorkelling, and swimming in the ocean, book a day trip on the Catamarran tours. It's extremely relaxing and there's free flow of a great choice of drinks and cocktails all day. The lunch provided is also excellent. Grab a seat in the nets first thing when you get on the boat! Best seat in the house!

- If you are looking to explore the city centre of Bridgetown, there are several ways to get there. Take a taxi, take a regular bus, or take the reggae bus. We took the reggae bus and I must say, it was the most amusing bus ride of my life! The reggae bus is basically a minivan that blasts really loud reggae music as you squeeze in with the locals on your way into town. It costs only US$2 per person and really gives you a small insight into Bajan life. I would totally recommend trying the Reggae bus!

- Go to Oistins fish market on a Friday (a taxi from the hotel will take you there). Have some fish, browse the market stalls, have some ice-cream to cool you down, and make sure you stay for some dancing at the end. It's guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

If you're looking for a hotel in Barbados, this is it.
And, I hope you'll have as great a time at Ocean Two as we did.
