We'd picked this place out in advance of our holiday as being our kind of eatery - one serving genuine good local food.
Despite a considerable delay before we were given a menu, or offered a drink, the menu (unlike the offer of drinks, which NEVER happened!) was eventually brought. Sure enough, that menu was good, and we made mouth watering choices. HOWEVER, thereafter, nobody looked the road we were on for about 25 minutes. We were just about to give up and leave when the waitress arrived and took our food order. Thus far, no one had offered us drinks, not even water. Yet again, we waited, and waited, ....and waited, until we finally gave up waiting and left. That final wait was perhaps down to the 3 staff present having a discussion around the till about another party having also left dissatified and without their planned meal.
Thankfully, we didn't have far to look in the Gap for the kind of service we had expected in Sweet Potato.
I'm heartened to read that other people have had a good experience here, but disappointed, as should be the management of Sweet Potato, that our experience wasn't just a "one off" on a bad night for them.
