Just returned from my second trip to the Soco hotel. Brilliant again. All of the staff are a credit and make your stay very comfortable. The addition of umbrellas on the beach have sorted the lack of space around the pool. It would be worth fixing the parosols on the beach as 2 blew out while I was there. Luckily they didn't land on anyone. Fridges were delivered to each room while I was there. Michelle and Felix kept me well watered, but I also have to mention Andrew, executive chef, not so front of house, but his food was fabulous and his brigade has matured developing brilliant cuisine that is a credit to his vision and competance . Truly lovely. Thanks. I will be back. Only comment worth noting, as a return customer it might be a nice idea if your booking system flagg's up returners so you are aware, and make the appropriate comments. Customer service of that standard will make you stand out.

Just back from Soco Hotel, Barbados 21st November 2103. Let me start by killing some of the old issues: sunbeds, we went down to breakfast around 9:30 each morning and there were always beds available, either around the pool or on the beach. At the last managers cocktail party the owner Ralph Taylor told me that he was going to convert the roof for extra sunbeds etc, what a view that will be. Meals the only complaint we had was that the menus were changed every 3 to 4 days which did not give you time to try every thing on the menus. Noise, yes there is some noise from the road at the front of the hotel, but it did not disturb my sleep and I’m light sleeper. Fridges in the room, while we were there each room received a fridge the under kitten cabinet size, which fitted in the cabinet beside the massive most comfortable hotel bed I have slept in.
I will not repeat the other trip adviser’s comments on the staff at the Soco but its all true, fantastic is the only word.
I can not recommend this hotel highly enough, do try it, by the way I’m more of a reader of trip advisor rather then a contributor but had to put something up about this super hotel and the staff.

Room Tip: All rooms the same

We returned last week from a simply fabulous week in Barbados. We had originally planned to go to the Florida Keys but having seen a review in that weeks Sunday Times Travel Supplement took a punt on the SoCo Hotel instead. To say that we were not disappointed would be a huge understatement! I believe my wife and I are reasonably fussy but in summary we simply couldn't fault this hotel. From the lovely warm welcome from Andrew on arrival through the bar, kitchen and restaurant staff the service was absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and everyone seemed to really care that we were having a good time.

The rooms, we upgraded to the Deluxe, are lovely, really good size with pretty much everything you need and very, very clean. The only minor point, our not having fresh milk in the room for a cup of tea (which I recognise is probably peculiar to me as an Englishman), that said I could get milk from the restaurant. I mentioned this when talking to the owner who said that he plans to install refrigerators shortly, on this, how many owners are interested enough to arrange a cocktail evening just to get their guests feedback?

The food was really very good, especially the desserts, some of the best we've had anywhere in the world, outside the UK. The menu changes every 3 days, that said both of us struggled to pick because every choice was simply mouthwatering. If you like the kind of all inclusive where you can pile your plate high as you like with a selection from a menu the size of a book then you'll be disappointed, this restaurant is for the more discerning diner and all the better for it. Keeping it simple obviously maintains the high quality from the kitchen.

The hotel was full but we never had a problem getting a sun lounger, which I have seen mentioned in other reviews and we are far from early risers. Not sure if this is because we elected to lay on the beach, because why wouldn't you want to. The beach in front of the hotel has a small man-made 'lagoon' which is great for children.

Location is brilliant, yes it has the road running along the front of it but to be honest we were not disturbed, and my wife is a very light sleeper, wearing ear plugs at home even though we live in the middle of a field! We did go to Carlisle Bay which is a 20-30 minute stroll up the beach where you can swim with turtles and well worth the effort. Getting about the island is really simple, $2 gets you anywhere on the bus which we used to get to the Oistens Fish Market on the Friday, an absolute must even if you don't like fish. We also hired a car for the day and drove all round the island, there's a real contrast as you might expect between the east and west coasts (Atlantic versus Caribbean). The locals are all really friendly, we stopped to look at the map several times and on each occasion, a passing motorist stopped to check whether we were lost and whether they could help with directions.

So may places to visit in the world but I would have no hesitation in going back to the SoCo Hotel, absolutely fabulous!!!!

Room Tip: I'd go for the Deluxe Rooms, they located at either end of the hotel on each floor I believe. T...

We were a bit sceptical after reading a few negative reviews particularly about the limited food choices and lack of sunbeds. Well the hotel was full while we were there and we didn’t have enough time to try all the food we wanted to try, and always found sunbeds available, so please ignore this as it really was not a problem. Regarding the comments on the noise, the front of the hotel is about ten metres back from a road, but we did not notice the noise.

This hotel is exactly the same as the photos on their website – very clean, modern, high standard. Comfy beds, big TVs in the rooms with international channels, quiet air con. All the rooms are the same – they overlook the pool and beach, and of European/American 4/5 star level.

The food is gourmet standard – the staff are simply great (reception/management/chambermaids/security/waiting/bar) – and could not do enough for us. We were celebrating a birthday and anniversary whilst there, and they pulled out all the stops for us, especially Michelle who we wanted to bring home with us.

The hotel is well run, it has a happy relaxed vibe about it – best holiday I have ever been on – upon leaving we were asked if we had any comments or feedback for them - we said there was not a single thing they could have done any better.

Thank you to everyone at the Soco for making our holiday so special - Andrew watch out we will be back....

Room Tip: All rooms are the same - they are all great!

Stayed in the Soco for 8 nights. Food was very good and we found all of the staff to be very friendly. The hotel is positioned beside the main road around the island and can be a bit noisey but it didnt bother us too much at all. The hotel is intimate so you will see the same faces over and over again either at the bar or by the pool and while we met some very nice people at the hotel it is important to get out and about! The only issue we had the entire time we were there was in relation to organising a late checkout on our final day which was a bit of a drama and cost a small fortune for what was essentially an additional two hours. Despite this, I would definitely return to the hotel. Special thanks to Michelle who is great!

We've stayed at The Soco twice this year and will be returning. The hotel had only just opened for our holiday in June and although there were teething problems the staff at the hotel couldn't do enough and we had a fabulous two weeks so much so we returned with friends in October. The welcome we received as returning visitors was unbelievable, it was like going home to family. This time the teething problems had been resolved. The rooms are an amazing size and as other reviewers have said, so are the beds. Andrew and the restaurant team ensure the food that is served is of a fantastic standard. The views from every room are unbelievable and being able to walk straight onto the beach and boardwalk is great. The staff all go out of their way to ensure your stay is exceptional, a specific mention to Michelle who is a diamond. She spoke to the management team as we were returning guests and they arranged a special meal for us on our last night

Looking forward to returning again

Lovely little hotel with a very nice stretch of beach and sea straight outside. Good food, previous problems with sun beds and menu choice seem to have been resolved and absolutely fabulous, fun and friendly staff.

Tiny areas for improvement would be wider choice of premium spirits at the bar and a few of the little used seating areas could give way to a few more sun beds round the pool. Also needs provision of bottled ester in rooms and a tiny fridge would also be helpful.

Hope they keep it as nice as it is now and we will be back.

Special thanks to Michelle and Erleen who looked after us fabulously at the bar and Andrew who is your "go to" man.
