“Enjoyable stay”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

The room was spacious and comfortable but the shower was a little small. The breakfast included was minimal but the option was available to pay for a more substantial breakfast. The evening meals were varied, enjoyable and plentiful. The staff were very attentive and took pride in their work. The service at the beach bar was always excellent thanks to Antonio. The beach and pool area is clean and tidy with plenty of sunbeds available.

I am sorry to say this hotel has past its best, appears to be 20 years old with a new lick of paint.
The location is poor very close to a road and bar across the road open to the small hours of the morning. If you are a light sleeper this is not the hotel for you.The noise continues for most of the night. We only had breakfast at the hotel, in my opinion very poor with no variety, cereal, toast, cake and coffee. You will have to pay for a cooked breakfast, never seen so much cake with a meal in all my life. There is a selection of nice resteraunts close by which are very good, no need to eat at the hotel as each night appears to have a buffet.

Room Tip: Try to select a room as far away from the bar across the street as you can

We've visited The Sun Grapes beach bar at Coconut court and have always been welcomed by the infectious smile of Antonio! He has pride in his work and it shows! We will go out of our way to visit this bar for the great food/ drinks and service. I highly recommend this beach bar to all those who visit the island!

That about sums it up. You work hard and save hard and look forward to your holiday and with the previous reviews of the Coconut court - well we could not wait.
Arrived Sunday 23rd March picked up from airport for 60 BSD by hotel. Room excellent. We did have one of the refurbished rooms. It was perfect. The view was beautiful. We ate first night at the hotel. Very charming atmosphere overlooking the beach. Food good. Next night was BBQ.
Amazing steaks and chicken. Very impressed until about 30 school kids appeared in the restaurant. OMG. Nightmare. For the next few days they there !!!!! Beach playing volleyball -
the male teachers were so disrespectful to the people who had been lying on the beach. We just got up and decided to go to the pool -no chance - they were there -hot tub - no chance there were about 12 of them in it. Now I have to say the kids were mannerly and polite however that is besides the point - this is not what we were looking for. They should have been staying at accommodation more appropriate to school trips and not in a hotel where people have come to spend 2 weeks expecting nothing but relaxation in the most tranquil setting. We learnt that they would be there for a week so rather than stressing on the beach, we got the local bus and went to the Boatyard (amazing stunning beach) and Mullins Bay on the west coast. We would come back, change and go into the Gap to eat. I was not prepared to spend another penny in the hotel and made our views and disgust known to Maurice the duty manager. Well sure enough the kids went home on the Monday - hooray. We stayed for the BBQ in the restaurant on the Monday night, again lovely, stayed at our own beach on Tuesday - bliss but low and behold did a group of about 20 girls age 14-15 not appear on the beach - 10 times worse than the previous week. They were literally screaming. Well that was it. Straight up to Maurice. While we were speaking to him just outside the shop in the foyer, you could hear the girls screaming. Do you think these teachers would like to listen to that if they were on holiday. After that we did nothing but sleep in the hotel. It was such a pity as I could not pick faults with the hotel. It was what we expected -without the groups of school children. Sorry Coconut Court but it had to be said. If you continue to accept parties of school children, and other guests experience what we did, you could jeopardise what has been built over the years and if we are hearing correctly that the hotel is for sale and you are just trying to boost your sales by filling the rooms - this is wrong. You have had returning guests and if my experience had been different - I would almost certainly have been a returning guest also. We have heard about your great beach barman - Antonio - what a pity we didn't get the chance to spend time on the beach to experience his service that everyone praises. Luckily all in all we had an enjoyable holiday. It is a beautiful island with such lovely friendly people and we will return - but not to the Coconut Court

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room should you dare to venture. Phone before to find out if there are any sc...

Dear Friends, thank you very much for writing this honest review of your recent stay with us at Coconut Court. I am pleased that you enjoyed our newly renovated guest rooms. The views are beautiful aren't they? Photographs cant even really give it justice. Thanks also for mentioning our amazing food and charming atmosphere. Coconut Court is indeed a special place and we work hard to ensure that our guests are well cared for and comfortable. Our earning the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for the last three years in a row (2011, 2012 and 2013) are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our really great team.

I was very sorry to learn that you had been disturbed by the recent groups that stayed with us. We do accept groups (like most other hotels on the island) and these two school groups stayed with us from (1) March 31-April 07 and (2)April 02-11. Both groups were small consisting of (1) 8 rooms and (2) 5 rooms out of our 117 room inventory - there was a couple of days when they were both here but considering the amount of rooms that we have here, the two groups combined were still a relatively small in number. However, I think that it is important that our management team works together with the group leaders more closely in the future to ensure that acceptable conduct is displayed at all times. You have my word that we are going to be looking at our procedures for handling this in the future.

Group business is an important part of our revenue earning structure but this should not be at the expense of our individual guests. Every group is different but we very rarely get complaints. Most groups have a pretty packed schedule while on the island playing sports, visiting local schools, historical sites and local attractions. In any case, I am very sorry that you were upset while on holiday.

"The proof is in the pudding" - we have spent over $5 million dollars over the last couple of years renovating our rooms and making other improvements. I think that this proves our commitment to our staff and to our guests and we have no plans on selling up the hotel anytime soon. We are here to stay! Please do not believe everything that you hear (or read).

I would like you to know that I have already printed off your review for discussion with the management team at our weekly meeting and we will be brainstorming together about better policies for the future. Thank you very much for giving us a 4 out of 5 star rating. We sincerely appreciate your honesty as you have contributed to making our efforts to please our guests here at Coconut Court ore successful.
thank you and best regards,
Linda, Jason, Mark and the family at Coconut Court Beach Hotel.

Had two weeks in March had a wonderful time. The hotel is very clean and the location is amazing. We had room 102 and although the room was basic it was huge and the views from our balcony was to die for. We could see turtles in the sea while we were having breakfast. Ted's tours was outstanding, such a funny and friendly person. Only thing that we was disappointed in was that they didn't have a steel band. Wanted to hear the sounds of Barbados. Had a great night out at Harbour Lights. Most nights we ate at the Blue Room and the food was very good. Had a lovely meal at the 39 steps. Yes would defo go back again. FANTASTIC.

Room Tip: ROOM 102 no noise amazing views

We arrived late afternoon after our flight from the UK, via St. Lucia. We booked the hotel airport shuttle to collect us at the airport at a cost of US$25 per room, as we were a party of 3 couples. (Total cost US$75). (See return details below!!)

Check-in was uneventful and smooth. There is a requirement to provide a deposit against breakages of BD$350 per room. This can be cash or credit card, which is refunded on check out.
We were shown to our ocean front superior rooms by going downstairs! We realised when we got into the room the they are actually on the poolside ground floor, with patio doors opening out onto the pool deck, which were ideal.
The room itself was large and spacious with a King size bed, a/c, and ceiling fan. The room also had a microwave, kettle, fridge and sink, in a kitchenette area, which was adequate to make sandwiches and a cup of tea/coffee, but not much else. You are not supposed to take your own food and drink onto the pool deck anyway, but you can sit on your own patio with it. Cutlery and crockery is supplied but limited.
The hotel does offer upgrades to half board or full board if required, however we were staying on a room only basis because of the large number of restaurants in and around the local area. We did try the "curry night" at the hotel, however were were disappointed with the experience as the food was only at best lukewarm and the lamb curry was full of very sharp bones.

The pool is a decent size with a limited number of sunbeds and some fixed parasols and chairs on the pool deck. Beach towels are supplied, one per person, on arrival free of charge. However should you wish to change it during your stay, you will be charged BD$5 per towel for washing! There is also a jacuzzi on the pool deck.

The best part is the proximity to the beach.. you are right on the beach as you can see from the many photographs. The beach is clean and tidy with loads of sunbeds and plenty of natural shade. Getting into the sea is fine however there are some small rocks and stones so beach shoes would be useful. There is a small breakwater about 20m offshore which helps keep the waves smoother and allows swimming and snorkelling in the "lagoon". There are plenty of fish to see near the breakwater.

The beach bar with Antonio is great fun at happy hour, 12.00 - 1.00 pm and again 5.00 - 6.00 however the happy hour only consists of local Banks beer and rum punch! The bars provide iced water free of charge any time.

The hotel doesn't organise any activities at all during the day but you can go to the "activities centre" and speak with Vaida to arrange your own private trips and excursions. Also, any "live" music the hotel provides is over the dinner period, 6.30 - 9.30 and then they pack up and go and you are left with nothing to do except drink at the bar, which closes at 11.00 pm. A big disappointment!

We booked a catamaran trip with Vaida which was excellent and she is more than happy to offer advice and recommend local restaurants and book a table for you. A very helpful lady. There is also an island tour you can book here however, we booked our own eight seater taxi at BD$80 per hour and chose the places we wanted to see and visit, in our own time with added advice from Fernando, our "tour guide and driver!! A great experience and well worth the cost.

The hotel has its own shop near reception, however there is a mini mart across the road to the left,as you go out of the hotel, which has a limited selection of useful food and drinks amongst other things!

The hotel is in a great beach side location however you will need to use the local "buses" to get around to other places like, The Gap, Rockley or Bridgetown. These buses stop mainly at the bus stops but will pick you up from almost anywhere on the roadside. They are so easy to use and only cost BD$2 per person per trip however far you travel. You will know them by the sound of the beeping from their many horns!

I think that it is only fair to mention, that in the 11 days that we were there, there were three school parties in the hotel over the period. Whilst not a major issue, it became noisy and rowdy at times and impossible to use the pool and jacuzzi due to the sheer number of bodies! For me, the constant high pitched screaming of schoolgirls, was a major headache!
Personally a hotel of this size, and the facilities it provides, cannot accommodate a party of around 30 school children as well as other guests.

For our return to the airport we booked Fernando and his taxi at a rate of BD$60, for our total party! A massive saving of around BD$90. Should you wish to book him to collect you from the airport, here is his number...1 246 269 6710 or 269 4901. Great guy! Give him a try!

Room Tip: Rooms 61 -66 open out onto the pool deck with excellent sea views

it s our second time here, everything is almost perfect for the price. Perfect renovated room with a womderfull sea view. Although two things was less perfect. There was a lot of teenagers from a school i suppose, it makes the place less calm and noiser. About a group of 30 teens at one moment. i hate places that accept teens groups for spring break, or easter camp. Everyone know how teens are when without their parents. Some other customers where complaining also with the noise those teen made in their room. I can understand that the hotel needs to fill their rooms, but they need to choose what kind of customer they want to have.

the fridge was noisy, it was making more noise than climatisation, it took me two visits to the front desk and 3 days to have it changed. The new one was perfect except no freezer.
