We stayed for a week in the Savannah Beach prior to a cruise for my 60th birthday and had a truly wonderful time. We enjoyed everything about this hotel. Not too big so had a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The staff from the restaurant staff, bar staff, housekeepers and reception were all happy, friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The food was excellent, the room we had was fab. We just loved it. On my birthday I had balloons on our door and decorations on the breakfast table and then happy birthday sung to me and cake! How lovely, and we hadn't even told them it was a birthday. We've been to Barbados several times before and stayed in much more expensive hotels but from now on it will always be back to the Savannah Beach for us.

Stayed at this amazing hotel for the first time in sept 2013,for 2wks had a fab time and the staff were so friendly and helpful, come the end of the 2wks I didn't want to leave, Fabian the bartender at drifters was amazing and so were his cocktails, he always had a big smile on his face even when he was rushed off his feet, nothing was too much trouble for him. Loved the place so much decided to go back for the xmas holidays what a great time my friend and I had.
Our drinks were made to PERFECTION !! thanks to Fabian who did not forget us and knew just how we liked them. Keep up the good work SBH.... Fabian is a merit to your staff always trying to please everyone and making sure they enjoy their holiday. Had such a great time nearly cried when I had to leave.

The SBH just gets better and better. Value for money in Barbados, you cannot beat this hotel. It is not a 5 star but the intentions of everyone at SBH is that guests get 5* treatment and you certainly feel that way. Highly recommend this hotel.
This is our third consecutive year at SBH since the new owners took over. Yes, there were lots of initial teething problems but now the running of this place is so smooth. The staff are an amazing team – from beach to housekeeping to reception to restaurants, kitchen, bar and management. Nothing is too much trouble – ok not 100% staff are like this but definitely 99%!!!! With Tricia Greaves back after a break in the US this hotel is so well run with staff who are happy in their work. The various team managers are always accessible – Susan, Horace, Edwin, Cecil and Tricia make a strong team and should you have any problems they will quickly address them.
You may feel like missing the weekly managers cocktail parties when all you want to do is relax on the beach but do go along. Not only do you meet other guests and the managers you get to taste the wonderful fishcake canapés and great rum punch the hotel has on offer!
Accommodation and food are excellent – remember you’re not paying 5* prices. We are fortunate to be able to stay more than 2 weeks at a time so the menus are a little repetitive, But I am a person like lots of variety So we combine the excellent, good quality menus in Rachel’s restaurant with visits to the wonderful variety of other restaurants on the island. You should too – there are restaurants to suit all purses and only by venturing out will you get a real taste of the island.
You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: The old plantation rooms are near the road. Try to get as close to the beach as possible

This was my fourth time on the island of Barbados, but my partner's first visit. I'd told him previously that he wouldn't like Barbados. Wanted him to make up his own mind. He absolutely loves it. Why??

Well this may have something to do with our time at the Savannah Beach Hotel. Firstly we were met upon arrival by a pleasant young lady who checked us in. We were then shown into the lobby and served a delicious rum punch and told when our glass was empty, come back and have a re-fill. Susan then took us to our room. Having pre-contacted the hotel to ask for a room on an upper floor, our request had been met.

We then freshened up and went down to "Drifters" Beach Bar and helped ourselves to food before having a few drinks and watching the nights entertainment before going to bed.
Next morning feeling refreshed, we headed to "Rachels" where a buffet breakfast is served.

The food is plentiful and there is always a good selection of food available. During our fortnight we never went hungry. We dined at Rachels in the evening on a number of occasions. This is A La Carte / Table D'hote, and guests on the all inclusive package can mix and match from both menus. Bookings for Rachels in the evenings need to be made. When Drifters is closed on a Sunday and Wednesday, Rachels is the only on site restaurant open for food. Again you need to make a reservation.

Hotel was full during our stay. It appeals to mixed age groups. During our first week it was mostly the more mature age range, the second week was half term so there were a number of families in the hotel. The hotel did however adapt it's food available at lunchtimes and evenings to accommodate the children by having "Kids" selections available (chicken nuggets and chips).

Drinks were plentiful. Nice cocktails, give the cocktail of the day a try.

As some reviewers have said, the rooms are a little dated, especially the bathroom. However, we found the room comfortable and adequate to meet our needs. There was a kettle, fridge, hairdryer, tv, air conditioning, ceiling fan and plenty of electrical sockets in there. The shower was ok, have experienced worse in the UK and there was always lots of hot water, no matter what time of the day.

The rooms were cleaned daily and towels were changed every two days. The hotel has an environmental programme in place. This wasn't a problem. Although I must say that on a few days we didn't have hand towels in the room (were told by Housekeeping that they didn't have enough) and on one occasion we came back to the room after a day on the beach to get a shower in order to go out for an early evening meal, only to find no towels at all. Rang down to reception who advised that they were late back from the laundry and were unable to say when they would be available. We waited approx. 30 minutes before someone arrived with towels.

Take caution when walking around the pool area. The floor surface is tiled and is very slippy, as are the steps leading to the higher floor room blocks.

Beach is ok. Take water shoes if planning on getting into the sea from the hotel beach. You need to walk a good way out before you get any depth. Go either way to swim off the Amaryllis Beach or the Hilton Beaches (next door). Plenty of sun loungers, no need to rush down to get one, however they only have two parasols available, so if you want to have cover from the sun, you need to be quick. The beach also offers plenty of shady spots under the trees, so you don't have to sit in the full sun, if you don't want to. The chap who looks after the sunbeds is lovely. Just show him where you want your bed and he will deliver it to you.

Also, the "sheriff" (jewellery seller) on the beach is a nice guy. Take a look at his jewellery, no pressure to buy, happy to chat and pass a few minutes. Watch out for his water pistol though. Maybe he only has this to hand when kids are about.

I hope that during your stay Jackie is on duty. She is a real ray of sunshine, especially when she comes round to your lounger to take your drinks order.

There is an option to upgrade to the Club. We didn't take this, so can't comment on the perks of doing so. We didn't feel we missed out on anything during our stay.

Most nights Drifters has entertainment on. This comprises of singers who all do reggae, modern day hits and classic songs. Background music is ok whilst you dine, drink and chat with your new found friends. On a Monday evening there is a Bajan Floorshow. We saw dancers and a limbo lady. Very entertaining, but be warned, you may become the star of the show if you sit too near the front!!

What makes this hotel is the staff. They are wonderful. Happy, smiling, chatty, friendly and they really care that you have enjoyed your food and have had plenty to drink. It was fantastic to see the staff enjoy themselves one evening when the group who were performing in Drifters began to play some local music. We saw the Bajan moves at their best!!

Our guest survey asked for the name of any one member of staff who had gone above and beyond to make our holiday special. Where do you start, the page simply wouldn't have been big enough. Each and everyone of those guys deserves a special mention. They work so hard to make sure we have a good holiday.

If whilst in resort you are celebrating a birthday or other special occasion, let them know. I celebrated my birthday and was surprised with a cake and a singing choir at breakfast. Lovely little touch and again the staff were genuine with their greeting, especially when taking the time days later to enquire if I'd enjoyed my birthday.

We had a fabulous time staying at the Savannah Beach Hotel. Can't wait to go back. We found lots of couples who go back every year, that said, the Hotel must be doing something right. Virgin Holidays take note, you have a gem of a hotel here, keep the prices reasonable to allow everyone an opportunity of visiting the wonderful island of Barbados. A once in a lifetime experience that must be done.

This is a very nice hotel and great value for money.

Rooms - think it's worth paying for rooms on the lowest, i.e. beach level. We had a nice room with access to the pool. Lovely patio. Heard from others that the original plantation rooms were noisy.

Beach - pleasant to sit on with shade from trees but not great to bathe. Rocky and strong current. However you can walk 5 minutes in either direction and get a nice beach. The one at the Hilton hotel, to the left when you come out the back of the hotel, is nice. Hotel also do free transfers to another beach but only once a week and we missed it.

Food - very good food with lots of variety. Plenty of local stuff to try. Nice a la carte nights in the main restaurant. Good drinks for all inclusive.

Entertainment - ok but not great. Finished at 10 30. Wouldn't suit young people although easy enough to go out to Bridgetown or St Lawrence Gap. Route taxis and official buses stop outside hotel. 2 dollars however far you go. We went to Oistins and Bridgetown. No problem!

Staff/service - excellent. Friendly, helpful people who really want you to have a great holiday.

Room Tip: Avoid plantation rooms. No need to pay for sea front. Rooms described as pool view are near beach.

Stayed an all but brief 3 nights at the Savannah Beach before hopping on a cruise. Booked all through Virgin Holidays.
Hotel was very clean and well kept. The rooms were large and very pleasant with a huge bed and pleasant terrace balcony with comfy seats. Bathroom was a tad tired, but not dirty and did the job. No shortage of lovely hot water on demand.
With only about 100 rooms this hotel is a good size and although they were fully booked, did not feel crowded. Food was good in both the Beachside restaurant/bar 'Drifters' and the main restuarant, although we didn't' get to eat A la Carte as we were there for so short a time.
The most impressive thing about this hotel is the staff. They are lovely, cheerful, and happy to help on all occasions - a total bonus.
Being beachside is also an advantage, along with one of the many wonderful cocktails, a sunbed here is heavan.
Only regret we had was not to have stayed at this hotel for the whole of our holiday ..... the cruise was ....... interesting!!!

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms in the old building (cheaper option) as they are up by the road and the 'hooting...
