“Truly awesome!”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

My husband and I got married at this hotel on 23rd October 2013 and subsequently stayed for our honeymoon. It was perfect and we were so happy we decided to go with Savannah. The service was INCREDIBLE from the planning phase of our wedding the banquets dept was very helpful and we were always able to speak with someone if we had any queries whether by telephone or email. The wedding day was spectacular the decor and the set up was amazing, simply beautiful. Our wedding day was flawless we did not have to worry about anything. We enjoyed breakfast in bed the following morning which came right on time. All in all the food was great, the staff were soooo friendly, the property grounds was always cleaned whether the rain fell or sun shined, the spa services were truly relaxing, we had such an amazing time that we did not want to leave. We will DEFINITELY stay here again.

My management team and I had the pleasure of staying for four nights. The conference facilities were comfortable and the staff went beyond in supplying our needs. Nothing we asked for was too much for them to handle. They never said "no we cannot do that". A most refreshing experience. The meals were good. I did not like the birds and flies at the beach side restaurant. Something needs to be done about this urgently. The entertainment on evenings were great. It provided a good sampling of both local and popular songs. The reception area can do with some work, it does not reflect the true essence of the hotel. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. Did not like the smell of the cleaning agents used in the room. Would suggest some air-fresheners to create a more pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floors provide a better view of the compound/ sea.

We stayed at the Savannah Hotel the first two weeks in November for my special birthday. I told the Virgin Rep it was my special birthday, but unfortunately the hotel weren't aware of this, even though my husband emailed the Virgin Rep when we booked about five months ago and told them, it was only when we ordered a special bottle of Fizz and I told them it was my birthday, they said why on earth didn't I let them know before. I am sure this was no fault of the hotel itself just a lack of communication. Other people who were celebrating their birthdays had balloons and Fizz on ice, which was a nice touch. I suggest that it you are celebrating a birthday to let the hotel know beforehand. The room was very comfortable with a nice balcony overlooking the courtyard. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rachel's A La Carte Restaurant was our favourite, the food was to a very good standard and the waiting staff were very attentive. We also quite enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Drifters with a good variety of buffet food and entertainment. You were also offered drinks from your sunbeds, so didn't even have to get up and get yourselves a drink - a very nice touch. The hotel was opposite the Garrison horse race track and we used to get up early in the mornings to watch them training. Unfortunately we went home the day before there was a race meeting, otherwise we would have loved to have gone. Barbados is a lovely island and the people are all so friendly and would recommend for a nice relaxing holiday.

We stayed here for a week. The hotel is beautiful. Lovely rooms and the food is great. I was bitterly disappointed in the staff service. Twice we were shown to a table by a waitress who just flicked her eyes at a table a walked away. I am happy to accept a more laud back approach with no sense of urgency but this was not cultural it was rude. I would never dream of treating another person in this fashion. Twice we were left without a table at breakfast as when we got up to go to the buffet we returned to find someone sitting in our seats. Really uncomfortable. It took hours one day and we resigned to having to go to reception every 15 minutes until we got towels in our room. An apologetic phone call from the duty manager made us think they were then taking a proper
approach. And the gesture of a fruit basket was kind. They however did not follow up with the meal that they promised and we left a bit disheartened. Barbados is such a beautiful island. Picture perfect. Hotel is just lovely and food is grand. But the staff are unwelcoming to the point of rudeness. Go to Barbados but perhaps avoid this hotel if you can.

Second visit to Savannah Beach and can't wait to go back. Stayed for 11 nights 15th - 25th September. Barbados is such a laid back island and this hotel is a perfect place to stay and enjoy your holiday. The staff were all so helpful and friendly - Jackie bringing your drinks to the beach - so you dont have to miss a moments sun! Both Rachels and Drifters served excellent food - plenty of choice. The birds were there in September - but found them quite amusing. Have stayed in a King Pool Access room and a king courtyard room and found both to be lovely. A little entertainment more or less each night with the endless supply of all inclusive cocktails was the perfect way to round off our day. Looking forward to going back.

1. Barbados people are defiantly polite and nice people
2. British people who love Ibiza between 16 to 29 AGE shouldn’t go as you spoil it for people who go there to relax, it not a place where you should put your load music on and shout as you are coming back late at night and wake the rest of us.
3. Food can get boring but it is all tailored for the British people so we shouldn’t really moan
4. Taxi’s can be very expensive hire a car as they drive same as the british and the laws are not strict, also you can drive everywhere within a few hours
5. Bus fair is a good price – 2 Barbados dollars anywhere (63 pence)
6. Sorry to say but tv was very boring, a lot of commercials, tv shops and a choice was limited
7. If you have kids then bring dvd’s and a dvd player, the tv had usb port just record stuff before you come, i used to listen to music from my usb
8. Bring sandles as the beach does have stones and so does the sea
9. Bring: light rain coat – headphones – eye goggles for swimming - umbrella (not necessary but you may get light rain) snorkels – tea bags – coffee – white sugar (milk is same as uk) – they have cereals – jam – usb to put in tv – cards – they have wifi so bring tablet – spot cream - antiseptic cream – after sun lotion - (i always leave all my toiletries for the cleaners and anything i don’t want to take back as in flipflops but if you leave everything together then they know they don’t have to take to lost property)
10. You will keep seeing the same people so if you don’t want to keep having long chats then keep it to just a hello in your first greeting
11. Always a dodgy guy on the beach at night team, he will sell you drugs, very expensive, he wont keep bugging you if you say no the first time
12. Very very safe for kids, in the day time kids were never supervised which at times was annoying as some of us had to suffer listening to their shouting while the parents relaxed at the bar
13. There is not much to do so if you want a relaxing holiday this is not bad, just check kids are on holiday though
14. It is safe to go out
15. Town is ok but your not missing out on anything if you don’t go
16. Walk to other beaches, i always had one string carrier bag with towel – watch – sun lotion and a little money
17. Oh i took a clock with me, just as well as the tv did not have the time and there was a digital on in the hotel but i couldn’t be bothered to set it up
18. Overall very relaxing – st lucia would be better to visit but Barbados be better to live out there

oh Mattress was a bit hard, sofas were fab to sit on

Room Tip: families should have the room near the pool, go for the back end far from the pool if you want a qui...

Dear Sarah J,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We appreciate the valuable feedback that you have provided as it allows us to have a clear outline on the different aspects of your holiday and address them accordingly. We sincerely apologize, and deeply regret that you were hassled on the beach; we hoped we would have known about it whilst you were here. As all beaches in Barbados are public by law, and cannot be privatized, we have notified The Royal Barbados Police Force and The Barbados Tourism Authority of your experience. We take this very serious, and have taken the necessary steps to ensure that the correct authorities are notified to prevent this from reoccurring.

It is great to learn that you had the chance to see other parts of the country by bus and car rental. Our island and it's culture are truly a gem to be explored with memorable sights like Harrison's Cave, Bathsheba and the East Coast; to name a few.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience experienced. Thank you for sharing this review with us. We certainly look forward to welcoming you back on future visits.
