Arrived quite late, but check in was very fast, paid for a/c straight away and you do need it, being mid August. Requested low floor in new block before travelling and we got ground floor in block 9 which for a 1 bed apartment was very roomy and had 2 bathrooms. There was always a damp smell in the shower room due to mould on shower which was never cleaned properly! But other than that very please with room. Pools were nice, but they did seem very murky the whole stay. Quiz nights were terrible, that's about all the entertainment there was, but this was ok because by time u walk back after dinner we just had one drink and went back to room. Location is excellent , near the lovely beach and there are some great restaurants, favourites were Artemis and Mary and ginas. Valentina at people's snack bar was brilliant , so helpful and hardworking . Had lovely break met some lovely people, highlight of holiday was glass bottom boat ride, brilliant ! Also trip to Lindos is a must. Shop is very cheap for drinks etc, would go back, but like to try new places.

Dear Sonmorg,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us in August.

With regards to your problem with the smell in your bathroom, please note, if this was reported to reception - we could have solved this issue for you.

Our swimming pools are cleaned daily and are kept in line with all health and safety regulations. We have many guests in our hotel using the pools on a daily basis - this is the reason it's important to use the pool showers to wash cream etc. before getting into our swimming pools.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your overall stay with us.

Kindest regards,

Stefanos Pallas

Dear TiffanyNorthants,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review - we're pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.

Please note that our air conditioning prices are extremely competitive and keep in line with the rates throughout the Pefkos area.

Whilst in high season, we realise we have many guests using our swimming pools but please be assured that we do clean our pools on a daily basis and they are all kept well within the health & safety standards of Greece.

We have some evening entertainment in the way of Quiz Nights, Karaoke, Kid's Disco etc. And we do try and run a Greek Night every Friday evening. This is an event which you must book with reception as we bring in dancers and a band from an outside organisation so we need a certain number booked on the event to run it, unfortunately if we do not meet this number - we cannot run the Greek Night. If you have any suggestions, we do welcome them - please feel free to contact us.

We hope to see you again in the future.

Kindest regards,

Stefanos Pallas

This is the second year we have stayed at the Matina and again we weren't disappointed. The staff at this hotel all go out of their way to be helpful. The food in the Meltemi Restaurant is delicious as are the snacks in Peoples Snack Bar, We had a two bedroomed apartment this year which was excellent, it was roomy, well appointed and clean. The sandy beach is just a stone's throw away and there are two great pools on site. The on site supermarket is well stocked with all you need. We were attending a wedding this year and the organisation by Amy was spot on, so many thanks to all of the hotel staff involved in that. This is why people return to the hotel year after year. Thank goodness we had 14 days this year as we wouldn't have wanted to go home after 7. If you have any specific requests the staff will do their best to accommodate you. What more could you want?

I have visited the Matina on 3 previous occasions in the past 5 years so it was natural to want to go again as we have always enjoyed it there. However this time will probably be our last time as we want to explore more of the Greek Islands.
The Hotel is well run and employs some great people Stergos is a diamond and the younger Pallas brothers Billy and Kostas are real genuine likeable lads. Our Holiday didn't get off to a great start not only was we 3 hours delayed as soon as we had arrived and unpacked and gone out to the supermarket and returned in the space of 30 minutes the room had flooded as a pipe had come loose under the sink and was gushing out water with some force that it was 2 inches deep throughout the whole apartment. A cleaner was dispatched and we helped her sweep out the water for nearly a hour and then dried out the floor with towels. As far as we were concerned it was a freak accident but the way we was looked at and ignored by a certain senior member of staff for the next 2 weeks you would have thought it was a act of sabotage. The pipe was fixed the next day but the water pressure throughout the block was erratic as you could hear water being turned on from next door and from upstairs at all times of day and night.
The room we had 814 had 2 bathrooms and was of a good size. It was very hot in the day but we left the balcony doors open a little just so the wind blown through the rooms and cooled them down without the need of buying air con which is quite pricey for 2 weeks.
The food at the hotel pool bars is quite cheap and at Meltemi you get a 10% discount and the food is very good. One thing most guests mentioned to me was that a pint of magners was €3.40 in the people bar but if you bought a pint of magners whilst eating in the Meltemi restaurant it was €5.80 but all drinks are served from the peoples bar to Meltemi which doesn't have a bar of its own. So why a €2.40 increase on the same drink being served from the same pump ?.
The Pool around Peoples bar was kept clean and there was always plenty of loungers but the bins around it need to be of a bigger size. When people are putting in water bottles and other bits of waste they fill very easily and with the wind in Rhodes it tends to blow things all over the floor its not a complaint but its something they could easily put right.
The football pitch is a great idea but for 2 weeks we was there it was only open for 5 days. We enquired about how to obtain the key to the gate to it but was told on 4 separate occasions other guests had the key and unless it was at reception to book out it couldn't be used until it was handed back. Its a very poor system though as a guest could book out the key and have no time limit to when they could hang on to the key denying other people the opportunity to use it. There is no time limit a guest can have the key they just put down a €10 deposit and for the last 4 days of our holiday the football pitch was closed with the reception staff none the wiser of the key's whereabouts.
All in all we were quite disappointed with some elements of how the holiday panned out but you can't deny the hotel is in a great location and gets a lot of people going again and again. I was hopeful of seeing the Greek Night the hotel hosts but that was cancelled on both Fridays as a England football match and the Greek festival in Lardos clashed with them. The evening entertainment was really poor though the Peoples bar was dead every night and even the quiz night we went to started at 10.45 nearly a hour late because there was only 8 people there and even Mark who hosts it made a joke of it which to be fair isn't his fault as he is a good laugh with a great sense of humour. Most people including ourselves opted to go to the Oasis pool bar across the road which is run by Kostas and is packed out every night and still going strong into the early hours. If you want a good fun relaxing night then this is the place for you and the Kelari is another bar that welcomes you and gives you proper greek hospitality.
I wish the Matina well and hope they continue to be a success this trip just didn't leave us with the feeling rushing to go back but nevertheless I would still the recommend the hotel to anybody wishing to stay in Pefkos.

Came to the Matina with 4 friends and loved every minute of the whole holiday. 7 days was not enough as it was such a relaxing hotel. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming (Stellios and Lucy to name only 2). The cleanliness and the speed at which things were repaired was brilliant once reported.

My only thing would be that bottles water be supplied to those arriving outside of the supermarket and bar opening hours as we were thirsty beyond belief after our flight and transfers and had to wait 2 hours until a shop was open.

Thank you for making my holiday one to remember :D

First time for us to visit the martina the good points were
Close to lovelly beach and restaurants
The shop on site was good prices
And friendly staff
The people's snack bar was good food and reasonably priced
The kids club was good with very friendly staff
Lots of shower and toilet facilities around the pools and bars
The other holiday makers here r very friendly

Bad points for us were
The cleaning was not what we have experienced before with rooms at other places we have stayed not a good standard poor

The entertainment I knew would not be too much but it was nothing but a karaoke nite in a Tuesday and two Greeks nites held in a friday were cancelled disappointing
Was not good idea having glasses around the pools as these got broken and our little boy came out of one pool to walk to lounger and got a splitter of glass in his foot really think they should use plastic glasses around the pool
We had a tv in our bedroom which would have been better placed in the lounge kitchen area we had nickelodeon and a few other channels for two days then they vanished for the other 11 days and we just had euro news we asked but were only told constantly it was being updated which it never was !!
We paid for 14 nites but only had 13 as had to be out of room 12 at midday 14 hours before pickup to airport then having to pay 35 euros to stay till 8pm but still being 6 hours before pick up disappointing
Air conditioning is very expensive with no thought and understanding from management we knew we would have too pay but just for one unit not two but had one bed apartment so made to pay for two my little one had very bad eczema so we had to get this as it flared up very badly and just needed to use the bedroom one but was told not to be trusted and no help we were on a budget but no help with this very disappointing and cost way to much when I did pay I overpaid a nite and to get money back takes ages had to be cleared by manager and then had to have it taken off another payment for late check out !
As said in another review poo in one of the pools not cleaned for cleared immediately
Rhodes is a lovelly island full of history and lovelly trips glass bottom boat butterfly valley lindos donkey rides to acropolis lovelly beaches old rhodes town and lovelly weather but not so sure about martina disappointing in parts
