“Great Holiday”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Two weeks, two adults, two children, with low cost holidays. August 2012.

Hotel is in a great location, lovely and quite at night and just the right distance from the beach, as walking in that heat (August) is a strain with airbeds, bags and kids !! lovely walk from the hotel into Pefkos at night.

Our room was a tight squeeze with four in there but we did a bit of furniture arranging and found it ok just not alot of storage space for your clothes, though no need to take a lot as the weather was boiling hot, did pay for aircon as we found we needed it at night.

Breakfast was good, a couple of hot choices, cereal and croissants just enough really.

Food on the night was ok, we always found something to eat and the kids loved it ! could have had a better choice of pudddings though, 2 is not enough.

Our room was cleaned daily - no problem there and always clean towels, a few ants about but buy a spray from the supermarket and they soon go.

We found all the staff were fine and the swimming pool was lovely, could do with a few more sunbeds though.

The owners as stated in previous reports do have dogs who do sometimes bark when people walk into the open air bar at night- perhaps this could be handled a bit better as not everyone are dog lovers.

Beautiful beach, town and area and we really enjoyed our stay here, yes we could have had better maybe staying at the newer hotels further fown the road but they would have cost alot more, so for what we paid it was fine. Would I go again - YES - remember its GREECE , chill take your time and enjoy, we did !!!

W stayed here in August 2012 and when we arrived we were made to feel very welcome.
Our room was a studio so was quite small and was under the pool but it was still in a good location.
The cooking facilities could be better, all we had was a hot plate with 2 rings, no oven or microwave however that didn't spoil our holiday as we came to try out the local cuisine. We ate at the hotel the first night and it was fantastic. My teenage son even found the food lovely and wanted to eat there every night. The prices were reasonable but we did venture into the town about 15 mins walk away where there were many restaurants to try the local cuisine. We did try lots of different ones and the last two nights came back to the pefkos garden to eat.
There is a little supermarket attached to the hotel and the lady was so friendly and helpful. All the staff gave us advice on places to visit and local reputable car hire companies. The beach is a little stony but it is private and secluded. There are other beaches around but we found the sandier they were the more busy they became. We snorkelled at the private beach and it was brilliant, saw all sorts of species of fish.
Our rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed regularly. If we wanted more towels or sheets we only had to ask the cleaners he was lovely and trustworthy, we could leave anything in our room.
Te bar staff were friendly and the cakes were absolutely delicious. I would definitely return here as it is in a great location for exploring.

Room Tip: 2 bed apartments are available but book early as these get booked quickly.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Pefkos Garden Hotel and all I can say was that it was a fabulous holiday. The hotel is the oldest in Pefkos we were told and therefore traditionally greek. The food was greek and delicious. My son whose 8 is a bit of a fussy eater but every night he found something he liked and I was pleased he could try the food. The staff were lovely and so friendly we never had any problems unlike some of the reviews. The pool was great and we went late October so never a problem with sunbeds we had our choice. The hotel caters for all nationalities so there is a varied atmosphere. The dog is gorgeous and my son loved playing with him all the time, we did not find him barking and howling all night. However, there are quite a few dogs around the area so I expect those were the ones we heard. Barbara came and introduced herself to us and we used to see her regularly around the hotel. The hotel did not have evening entertainment but that did not bother us one bit we wanted a traditional hotel in a great location and we got it. One thing if you go out for the day they will do a lunch box for you which was good value for money. We have travelled to Pefkos 8 times and stayed at different places but we would not hesitate coming back to this hotel. So please dont believe all the bad reviews written about it.

Room Tip: We stayed in a triple room 807 fantastic view and very large balcony.

We stayed at the hotel 04/10/12 to 10/10/12 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As other reviews suggest all the staff are very friendly, including the owner and receptionist who offered my wife sound advise and support in her attempt to give up smoking. The rooms were clean and cleaned every day, the bathroom was clean and the shower was of a good standard. We went to Rhodes as part of a wedding party and all the guests stayed at various locations and all paid a supplement for their A/C so we have to assume that this is common practice. If you want British food this is not the hotel for you but we enjoy local cuisine and found the food to be of a very high standard and certainly comparable with restaurants in the area. The communal areas were well maintained and clean. We would recommend the hotel to anybody and would go there again if we return to Rhodes. The rooms do need updating but given the economic climate in Greece we wish them luck in raising the necessary finance. Had a really good time there as well.

Room Tip: Go for the high rooms as the views are absolutely stunning.

We booked our holiday from 11th - 25th Sept 2012 and was so looking forward to our stay at the Pefkos Garden!
On arrival we were very tired after an early start (we were up at 2:30am and had arrived 3:30pm) and were so looking forward to a shower and a drink to relax for the start of our holiday.
But No oh no!!
We were told by Demos the receptionist that our rooms had "technical problems!!", not 1 room but all 3 had problems, as we were holidaying with 2 other couples, a great start!. We were not happy to say the least. He said he would put us up a short walk away in "Apositle Apts. for the night and would sort out our rooms tomorrow. We asked to see the manager (George) and also the undermanager Elti was there, (What could we do, can't go back home, they know that)
So off to the appartments we go.
They were dark, dingy and unclean and I would not have offered these to a dog to sleep in!!! Especially when we had booked an all inclusive hotel, we had to make our own way back to the hotel that evening for our evening meal and again for our breakfasts.
To call their bluff (Demos & Elti) I said I would take one of the "technical problem rooms", just to get settled after the long journey. I new in the back of my mind they had doubled booked the rooms!!!. I asked Demos this and he smiled and said "You know what it's like!!", No I don't what it's like as it has never happened to me before.
Next day at 4:00pm we were given our rooms, yes they were clean and adiquate, But our room was just to the left of the bar, ok, fine.
But the noise from the bar after the so called closing time of midnight was a joke. Christos the barman was very rude and unpleasent, I'm sure they had outside friends there for a party after closing time, One night at 2:30am I could take no more and opened the Patio door and shouted to keep the noise down as some guests wanted to sleep!!!!!!
We were also told to bring our glasses back after use to get another drink, If I'd have wanted a waitress job I would have stayed at home and got one. The Drinks ran out numerous times i.e. no vodka, no brandy or no mixers etc. what the hell are you suposed to do on an all inclusive holiday, take your own!!!.
The Dog Laddie.
Well what can I say, Bark, Bark, Bark......That dog never gave up all night long, He also chased peoples suitcases in the grounds on arrival and leaving, very scary.
The Resturant
The views were panoramic and breathtaking but the food was not very pleasent, cold kidney beans for breakfast and the usual stuff. Never to much choice for lunch and dinner, just a load of fat and gristly meat and a pile of bones in sauces, so we lived on salad and bread and ate out most of the time at our own expence, you don't expect to have to do this on an all inclusive holiday.
Overall the owner Barbara and her management team need to get their act together and stop the lying and the rudeness of the team or they will be getting so many negative reviews on TripAdvisor that they will soon see that the bookings dropping down
Such a shame as we paid good money for our two weeks in the hotel from hell.
