“Good holiday”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

Three girls (19-20), taken care of the moment we stepped off the coach. The two guys running the front of house, very friendly and work very hard! We booked with thompson and our holiday was a breeze!

ROOMS
We luckily read the cost of aircon (7euro a night) before we left, the rooms do get very hot. The shower was a bit like a hose, and it was small and did get hot in there, but we managed. The room was quite big, 3 singles, tables and a chair. The kitchen was tiny, not many utensils etc, a nightmare to really cook at but the fridge was most important!!!! (6x 1.5L water under 2euro!) Our room was up a steep hill and two flights of stairs which was a bit knackering in heat as well , but we managed and luckily only did it twice a day ish. The rooms have a really big terrace, table and chairs, and sea views (room 244 anyway !) so I really enjoyed that and actually didn't care about it's other flaws.
Our room was cleaned twice in the week we stayed, towels and sheets changed once, althought our bathroom mat was left all week which was a bit gross...oh well.

FOOD/BAR/POOL/BEACH
The general bar area was comfy, many fans and also table service. The snack food in the day was very cheap (tuna mayo, pizza, burgers etc) but other foods like greek salad and melon was available for 3-5 euro! Drinks are pretty average, chilled glasses, big cocktail list (5euro) and the guy behind the bar isn't massively smiley, he must be hot and fed up but he does make a joke !!
All the salad and fruit is grown on site, you can walk out and see the tomato ,pommegranite and melon plants! Icecreams onside are 2.50, seriously try the BOSS OREO ONE...so good!
The pool is nice, clean and warm water, many sunbeds (yes a little worn, whatever) The parasols are fixed in so people can't be greedy, but the sun is strongly on the main pool up until 4pm, so it's sometimes hard to get the best shade all day long.
There is a private beach, down the stairs from the pool, it's a little pebbly , and the sea is rocky, it still is nice to be on and it has beautiful views!!
We visited another beach which was about 10minutes away that was alot nicer, good sunbeds and no pebbles!

LOCATION
The transfer was pleasant on an aircon coach, it took about an hour from the airport. The apartments are situated around the pool, 1-14 have terraces and are just up from the beach, the rest are infront of the pool up the hill. There is another restaurant next door (coralli) nice food and place (pool is good, you can use any pools in greece aslong as you pay for a drink or what not)
The walk to the main strip is under 10mins, on a pathless dusty road mind, but most cars do move further out for you. No need for taxi. Its nicely out of the way so it isnt noisey but close enough to get to and from .
Lindos is a short taxi , about 10mins from pefkos taxi station and costs 8euro....it is lovely there but expect to pay a bit more, it to be bustling streets and losts of young greeks (not complaining)...

Overall, our stay was really nice, pefkos is a very friendly lovely place, scenic and has plenty to do. We ate out most, we tried a cheap meal at Zorbas, which was fine. Hellas, quality food as did Nostalgia which is a big terrace so is nice to watch the sunset and many other places where staff are great, plenty of variety to offer. It is a veryyyyy british orientated place, but there is still greek dishes. We mostly had cocktails, which range from 4.50 - 6.50 , try Zig Zag and palm cocktail bar, we really enjoyed them there.. Daquiris are the best!
The rock bar had mine and my friends music taste, live dj, nice atmosphere, bean bags and low lighting, try the Blue wave ,cocktail, so good!
We went to eclipse, which has a pool all night, and a cliff jump for 2euro, the most clubby place in pefkos, losts of 17-18 year olds dancing on the bar, but it is really nice outside ! Drinks price, cocktails 7-9, vodka and coke about 5... similar to everywhere really.
A meal for one I suspect to pay 8-15 euro :).

I would go back to Palm Bay studios, but in the hope is was tidied up a little just so we didn't feel icky all the time, not that it was dirty, it just seemed abit un comfortable...
Pefkos is a must though !

Room Tip: 1-14 quiet, open terrace, right on the beach. Most other rooms arn't noisy, but you can hear ba...

Just returned from 2 weeks at the palm bay and had a wonderful time. Pool is excellent and kept in a very clean condition. There were plenty of sunbeds however they are in need of an update. We found all the staff more then friendly and can't see them being rude as other reviews stated. Rooms are basic but we expected this for a 3 star hotel but they were cleaned daily. Overall we had a fabulous holiday and we would definitely return back to palm bay.

Never been Rhodes before, or Greece itself. Loved every minute of it! Palm bay is a great place and the old man who owns palm bay kind of reminds of Gus Portokalos from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Anytime of the day when you want something to eat or drink they are straight on it and very helpful and make sure you get what you want and when you want. That's what a holiday is all about. I'm 100% guaranteed going back this place as it's fantastic, Plus it's right by the beach and about a 5 minutes walk so town so your away from all the noise as well. The rooms are basic but lets face it your on holiday and your only going too be sleeping in there.

My advice would be just go! Two weeks if you have the cash. Oh and get Air-con.

Having paid a substantial amount of money to come and stay at Palm Bay as we booked through Thomsons, we could not believe what we saw when we arrived. Waited in reception for ages until the barman came over, showed us a bit of paper and asked to point to our names. He then set off up the hill with no words so we followed him. It took him 3 attempts to open our door as the handle was falling off. He then handed us the key and went. There was a huge pool of water on the floor, the room hadn't been cleaned, there were hundreds of ants because there was food left from previous people. My husband went to ask for the room to be cleaned but the barman said he couldn't do anything and we'd have to wait till the owners got there which would be later that evening. I went for a shower which didn't work and we had no towels.

My husband got straight on the phone to Thomsons and within half an hour had found us somewhere to move to. Yes we had to pay but to be honest it was worth the extra couple of hundred to be staying somewhere clean! I've seen a lot of reviews saying you get what you pay for - well we paid a lot and the standard of this accommodation was not worth the amount we paid! I guess if we'd booked it on the net for a cheap and basic hol then it wouldn't have been as bad, but however basic accommodation is I expect it to have been cleaned since the previous people left.

The location seemed good and there was a lovely view, and Pefkos itself was fab but I would not recommend Palm Bay as a place to stay.

Just spent a week at Palm Bay with the family (kids 12 & 10) and would recommend if you want cheap no frills accomodation. We stayed in Studio 2 in the pool side of the hotel (there is another part over the road) - this room faced the Corrali Apartment complex next door. Room was very basic but had Air Con at 49 euros extra - a must considering it was baking hot during our stay. Room cleaned each day with towels changed every other day. We found the room comfortable but it was noisy at night due to being facing Corrali complex swimming pool and sound system!
Pool area was big and lovely - lots of sunbeds which are tatty as stated in other reviews. View of sea was amazing and the steps from pool lead straight to the beach were we safely snorkelled for hours - the beach was very quiet with next to no-one around.
We ate at the Coralli next door, food was amazing and an average of 54 euros for a family of four. Pefkos a 10 minute walk had loads of restaurants, bars and shops for all your holiday needs. On site supermarket had eveything you might need if self catering.
Overall, don't book here if you are fussy and expecting everything to be perfect. But if you want access to a great pool, beach on the doorstep, a great greek island and glorious sunshine all at a reasonalble price then, Palm Bay certainly does the job.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the beach had a terrific view!

We returned from our second trip to palm bay studios inn July and we loved it just as much as the first time. We can't see why so many people complain about this place! Pool was clean, rooms were cleaned virtually everyday, food was great and staff are brilliant. Yes the sun loungers are a bit dated but does that really affect your holiday so much and maybe the rooms could do with a freshen up but again does this really affect your holiday considering we hardly spend anytime in our room other than to sleep and shower. All in all a brilliant holiday and will definately be returning again! One little thing I will mention is that we returned from pefkos centre a couple of nights to find the bar at palm bay closed for the night which was early considering it was only around 12am, this isn't a complaint but it is nice to have a nice cold mythos after walking back from town

I stayed at the Palm Bay in June 2012 and have already booked to go back next year. Everything about it was just right for the price: the room was small but pleasant with efficient aircon, enough utensils, a comfy bed and a good, powerful shower. The owner and his family were great, very pleasant and helpful, and although I only ate in their restaurant once I often called in for a nightcap on my way back from the village and was made very welcome. Cleaning and sheet changing was done regularly, and although a couple of people I spoke to had initial problems with their rooms, they were soon sorted out with very little hassle. One couple were of the "let's see what we can complain about" type but their gripes were so pathetic they were laughable. Does it really matter if you only have one teaspoon, or if you need to buy the occasional roll of loo paper? This is Greek self-catering after all! All in all, the Palm Bay is very hard to beat and I can hardly wait to got back there.
