We have been to this Hotel for the last 12 years and have nothing but praise, we have always received excellent service. The Rooms are basic but this is a two star hotel, our room was cleaned every day with Towels and Bed Linen changed every other day. My Dad broke the Toilet on the second day, however upon reporting this, it was mended within half an hour - thanks to Nikos! The staff / owners are extremely friendly and always polite and helpful. This year has been the first year they have done All Inclusive, what can we say, having always gone to restaurants / tavernas within Pefkos, having eaten at the Thalia, the food is just as good if not better than what we have had previously, a good selection to suit everyone's tastes and delicious cakes! Pefkos itself is a lovely resort and has changed greatly over the years but still retains it's character with lots to offer everyone. Unfortunately the British People are about to lose out on a lovely Hotel and Family due to Olympic Holidays stupidity of letting this Hotel go, so please Olympic Holidays think again!

Quite simply, if you are going to Pefkos, do not stay in this hell hole. Our room/cell was little more than a hovel with dodgy electrical sockets, the toilet, lights and kettle did not work, ants everywhere, no plug for the sink, pathetic supply of kitchen utensils, decrepit shower and lime scaled toilet, disgusting smells wafting from the drains, air con. noisy and worrying, with alarming condensation dripping onto what can only barely pass as a balcony. The overflow pipe from room above gushed out water one evening onto the poor souls in the room below us, there was no balcony light, a noisy fridge with faulty ice compartment and on the last night, the toilet went ballistic and almost flooded the place. The staff weren't unpleasant but lackadaisical and miserable. We've been to several Greek Islands and accept that most self-catering studios are going to be basic but this place really took the biscuit and I would be very embarrassed if I worked for Olympic and was expected to represent this monstrosity of a 'hotel'. I doubt it's had any maintenance work done since it was built in the 70s!

Pefkos itself is a pleasant little place. Tavernas were plentiful as were the size of the portions with prices consistent throughout; Our beach was lovely, as was the weather and we got to see a lot of the Island including Old Rhodes Town (get the bus - it's fine, regular, air conditioned and much cheaper than going through the rep.) The Acropolis at Lindos is well worth a visit too as is the Grand Masters Palace in Old Rhodes Town.

If you have already booked your holiday at The Thalia, I implore you to get straight back onto your travel agent and get booked in somewhere else. You have been warned!

Me and my family were meant to have stayed at another hotel called the Saint George (DO NOT BOOK THERE...YOU DONT GET A ROOM..THEY TELL YOU IT IS OVERBOOKED!!)

This is a lovely family run hotel...exactly what you expect from a 2 star hotel..being basic but clean if some of the rooms were upgraded and the hotel itself had a little bit of money spent on it and TLC it could easily be a 3 or 4 star especially as it is in a great located (walking distance to the beach and to the shops restaurants and bars in perkos)

Nice pool and all alcoholic drinks in the all inclusive are all inclusive from morning to night. The all inclusive food is a little bit repetitive but is cooked lovely and is delicious and no one had any tummy upsets

have a good holiday :)

I have stayed in this hotel for 8 times now, I have tried other places in Pefkos and Lindos.
The rooms in the Thalia are larger than most of the other accommadation in the village, the view from some have been reduced due to other buildings nearer the sea, not far to walk into Pefkos or the beach.
I am not sure what some people want on holiday a home from home perhaps if so buy your own apartment or villa, certainly not the low price offered at the Thalia
The hotel staff and family members are helpful and now they have reopened the dining room as a form of all inclusive package it is great being able to eat in the hotel.
They have started receiving packages from Poland so hardly any British guests could be something to Olympic not *buying so many rooms* so they have maybe looked at some of the comments and are trying to stay in business, as are many other local amenties.

After booking this hotel through olympic I came on this website and read the reviews as an after-thought and was horrified at what people had written - 'disgrace, shabby, unfriendly' - 'grotty pool' - 'breakfast a joke' - 'this was a bin'. I tried to change hotels but it was too late. The day we arrived I was dreading to see what I would find.
However when we arrived we found a clean and attractive hotel with a genuinely friendly welcome and a clean, tidy but basic room. The kitchenette was limited though and I couldn't see us making many meals in the room. We went self-catering but upgraded to all-inclusive as only 12 euros per day per person, which is an excellent price and much cheaper than eating out in pefkos.
We arrived at 6pm and soon after went into dinner expecting the worst. We were greeted by a smiling waiter who greeted us and brought us drinks and a fantastic selection of fresh, hot, greek food was on offer. There was a great selection of meat and vegetarian dishes as well as a large salad buffet. Desserts were limited in choice but always nice and available. As soon as food had run out a fresh tray was whisked in from the kitchen even if only ten minutes before the end of the meal. We were even forewarned of a fresh tray coming out of the kitchen!
The pool here was excellent, surrounded by trees and a garden with plenty of sunbeds - maybe busier in the summer holidays - and a good pool bar with drinks available constantly as well as snacks. Although the girl in the bar was overworked and could have done with some help in the day if the manager is reading this!
The hotel was in a great location at one end of the resort's main road within 3 minutes walk of shops, restaurants and 10 minutes to the beach.
If you are looking for a five star hotel with all luxuries this isn't for you. This is a budget hotel with the qualities of a three/four star. The service and food was fantastic as well as the friendly atmosphere the family running it created. The room was a little basic but cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. If you aren't too fussy and want to see greece and try traditional food in a nice place I would ignore the previous reviews and stay here!

Room Tip: Try and get a garden view - faces away from bar so quieter.

We had the Thalia recommended by friends as they had been a couple of times and had a fantastic time. We arrived early hours and had no problems getting into our room. First impressions were that it was the most basic place that we have stayed in. However, after food and sleep we settled in no problem. The rooms were cleaned regularly and the food, service, bar and pool were good. The family owned and run hotel gave it a really nice feel and we fully appreciated the time that we had there. The staff were professional with a balance of friendly and were very decent people. We would recommend it, just remember that that you are not paying for 4 or 5 star, this is a 2 star hotel. Pefkos is a small but nice place with ample restaurants, nice beaches, in the shadow of a mountain and with links to the bus routes to visit most places on the East coast of the Island. We hired a brilliant little scooter and explored the Island, which was amazing! I would go back tomorrow. The whole experience was immense.

IF YOUR THINKING TO GO TO A NICE FRIENDLY HOTEL THINK AGAIN!This place is a disgrace, unfriendly, dirty, shabby. Breakfast a joke cockroaches in the bath, mouldy shower curtains, faulty air conditioning, rude staff, LOUD music until late. Grotty pool, however we do recommend going up the road spending your time in the coliseum. This was a bin so was everything in it.

TERRIBLE.

Room Tip: book the most expensive.
