If you want a totally relaxing holiday in the quiet part of town with excellent tavernas and a beautiful beach nearby, choose Babis. This was our fourth time here and yet again we couldn't fault it. We had an upper floor appartment facing onto the pool area with stunning views across the bay to Lardos. We enjoyed watching the sunset from here each evening. The complex is beautiful and clean. The pool/pool bar area is fantastic and is looked after by the lovely Carol during the day and the wonderful Valantis, the owner, on an evening. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they, along with Georgia who does the housekeeping make Babis an even more special to stay. They are so friendly and helpful. Carol serves delicious food and I can highly recommend her Gyros pitta; and you have got to try Valantis' cocktails :)
Take no notice of the comment below about the rooms. I have been in all of the appartments at one time or another and can honestly say that they are all spotless, well equipped and have everything you would need. Anyone who spends their time in Greece just staying in their room needs to get a life. In my opinion rooms in Greece are for sleeping in and getting a shower
- nothing more.
Babis is situated in a quiet part of Pefkos, about a 15 min walk from the centre where the majority of the bars and eating places are. But that is why I personally love it. Pefkos has a real buzz to it, but I don't want that all the time. I want to spend my time chilling out by the pool, and wandering to the bar to get some delicious food during the day. While we were there this time we alternated our evenings by walking into the centre of Pefkos every other night to eat/drink and going to the local tavernas (Kavos, Eleni, Anixis, Nicolas) the next night. It depends on what you want from your holiday. If you like to be at the centre of everything then fine, but be prepared for very noisy evenings in the accommodation in the centre of Pefkos. If, like us you prefer peace and quiet and chilling out then choose Babis.
Pefkos main beach is also 15 - 20 mins walk from Babis, but there is a quieter and nicer beach (imo) near to Kavos taverna. There are a couple of supermarkets nearby to Babis and the people who own Eleni supermarket and taverna are lovely and friendly.
If you don't like walking or have difficulty in walking then you can always use a taxi to get into the centre of town. But if like us you like walking, then the walk along to the centre of Pefkos is nice and you get to see some lovely views. There is a bit of a climb up onto the main road, but anyone who is of average health and above shouldn't find it a problem.
I am a complete snob when it comes to holiday accommodation. I have dragged my poor husband away from many hotels etc that haven't come up to my standards, so trust me when I say that for me staying in Babis is like going home!
