“Great Hotel”
Reviewed October 11, 2011

We stayed in this hotel in early October of this year.

When we arrived we were greeted very friendly staff at reception who helped us with our bags to our room. The room was huge and we had a good view over the pool out to sea. It had all the usual facilities you would expect.

The hotel is part of a bigger complex which comprises two other hotels. You can use the facilities at the other hotels but we stayed at the Island Blue most of the time. The swimming pool is large and there were plenty of sun beds, although some people still seemed to insist on marking the sun beds with towels and I don't even think they were German.

The only criticism of the pool is that it was freezing cold; if you are planning some form of polar swim the pool could be handy for training. Once the sensation in your body has faded you get used to the cool waters and frostbite isn't too bad, and it's not as if you need five fingers on each hand anyway.

The bars at the hotel and by the pool were fine and seemed similarly priced to others in the town. We didn't try the restaurant so I can’t really comment on that.

Overall I think the hotel is fantastic value for money and you get a lot. I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Pefkos.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view over the pool out to sea

We had stayed in Pefkos before and had vowed to return but wished to find better accommodation than we had previously. Having read the favourable reports of Island Blue on Trip Advisor we booked there for the last week in Sep and first in Oct. The holiday was one of the best we have experienced - due mainly to the exceptional venue provided by Island Blue.
All the accolades in previous reports are true. From the moment we arrived all staff were wonderful. The Rooms are fabulous - large with all amenities and the luxurious bathroom and walk-in shower. Breakfasts provided a vast choice of delicious food and the resort pools are first class. There were a few large, comfortable sunbeds at the Elia Pool but regrettably, those at the main pool were narrow and uncomfortable. This is our only minor criticism in an otherwise exceptional Hotel Resort. Our thanks to all at Island Blue for a truely memorable holiday.

Room Tip: They are all good.

Arrived for 11 nights from the 24th September and despite a delay in leaving Gatwick we arrived in good spirits at 10.30 pm. Check in was painless and we were whisked off on the golf buggies to our rooms ( took about 60 seconds ! ) Our room ( 145 ) was superb , Very clean light and airey. Lovely bathroom too. Went straight to the Elia for a drink and was offered a meal despite it now being about 11.30 !! We declined as too say we were tired was a understatment !!.

Room :

Can't fault it really, Aircon worked well , Was kept clean . If i was being picky i would say the walls were a bit thin and if you have a familly next door or above you will here them very easily.

Breakfast:

Again very nice , Buffet style with a good choice . We were B&B and never left feeling hungry, Some may say it was " samey " but just how much variety do you want for breakfast ? Cooked ( bacon, beans, sausages etc ) Cereal , Toast , Fruit and continental stuff , More than enough for us.

Pool:

Excellent , Nice music playing not too loud , Very clean and pleasent. Pool bar was excellent as were the staff running it.

Overall very pleased with our choice of hotel and would have no problem going back.

Pekos:

Loads of places to eat , Never had a bad meal. As per previous reviews we can recommend, Dama Dama , Great food and superb staff ( eat there 3 times ). Elia , Greek night was good as was the meal we had on the Saturday night. Enigma , Nostalga , Philosphia all vey nice. Niklos is also worth a visit again good food and good staff ( eat there twice ).

Beach:

Never went to the main beach down the steps but went to the smaller and quiter beach on the left hand side. About a dozen sunbeds , very quiet and more sheltered from the wind that seems to rise as the day gets on.

Really enjoyed our time there and would not change a thing.

Room Tip: All are good from what we heard

We've just returned from a week at Island Blue and would recommend others to stay there. It's part of a complex of apartments and hotels, but Island Blue is the top end. The rooms were designed as apartments, so come with a fully fitted kitchen with appliances, crockery and cutlery. We were lucky enough to have a 4 person room for 2 of us. This gave us 2 bathrooms (brilliant!) with a spare bedroom with extra wardrobe space. Rooms have contemporary decor and are so spacious. All Island Blue room balconies overlook the swimming pool, just one of the 4 pools on the complex. All facilities on the complex can be used by all guests so you just find the snack bar and pool to suit your tastes. There were sun beds always available, but pool towels weren't provided which would have been a useful extra. Reception staff, holiday rep, restaurant staff and cleaners were all excellent. Breakfast buffet was good as were evening meals at the Elia Restaurant. Overall, a really good hotel with a good location which I would recommend.

This was the second visit to Island Blue by the Williams family. We stayed for 10 nights from 24 August in a 2 bedroom apartment. We are extremely particular about the accommodation that we stay in and very rarely do we return to a hotel. Having travelled to various Greek Islands, I am pleased to say, without compunction, that Island Blue is the best hotel that we have stayed in! Island Blue is in a wonderful location for both the beach and the resort centre and its proximity to Lindos is perfect.

The 2 bedroom contemporary style apartments are a fabulous size and with two daughters taking hours to get ready, the two bathrooms are an invaluable facility! The maids kept our apartment spotlessly clean and towels and linen were replenished frequently. The complex is extremely clean and well maintained throughout.

The distinguishing factor that makes Island Blue so special is the focus on personal service. Upon check in, we were greeted by the receptionist, Rula. Immediately, she remembered us from our stay last year. She has such a friendly disposition and a wonderful memory, never needing to be reminded of our room number! Thank you to Katerina who organised my request for accommodation. We were really grateful; it was a fabulous room that met all of our requirements!

We arrived at the hotel just before 11 at night having experienced the most awful flight delay of nearly 8 hours. Thankfully, Elia, the hotel restaurant, was still open and as soon as we walked in the restaurant manager and waiters recognised us! Elia is a great restaurant, the quality of food is superb and there is a wonderful ambiance. I must commend and extend our thanks to Stefanos, the restaurant manager, his son Kyriakos and Nikos (waiters) who were absolutely fantastic and made us feel so special. Thank you also to Stefanos' wife, a lovely lady who greeted us at breakfast every morning with a smile! All members of staff were friendly, welcoming and eager to please.

Quality service at this level is difficult to find and I congratulate Mr Stavroulis, the hotel manager. He obviously manages Island Blue with a focus on outstanding customer service and his achievements are apparent and appreciated.

I would not hesitate to recommend Island Blue and Pefkos as a truly wonderful holiday destination.

My husband and I have recently returned from a 2 week stay at Island Blue, Pefkos. We chose Island Blue as it looked like the perfect place to spend our wedding/honeymoon. We were not dissappointed...from the moment we arrived we knew that we had made the right decision. We were taken to our room by golf buggy which was a pleasant surprise, it also meant no lugging suitcases round the complex...the golf buggy would feature again later in our stay! Our room was modern, spacious and clean (a lovely space to get ready on my special day), there was a tv and full size fridge (with a complimentary bottle of water) the bathroom was a good size and had a brilliant shower...and a hairdryer (always a plus...less weight in the suitcase), the towels were changed every day and the bedding every other if required, there were also extra blankets if you wanted them. Air con was also included which was a welcome addition. We were on the groundfloor which had a large terrace area with a table and chairs and a clothes airer. We stayed on a B&B basis and there was plenty of choice on the breakfast buffet, something for everyone. The grounds and pool areas were kept immaculate and again there was something for everyone with a choice of the quieter adults pool or the livelier 'kostas' pool bar if you fancied a bit more fun. The purpose of our trip to Rhodes was our wedding at St Pauls Bay, Lindos (which incidently was amazing!). We held our wedding reception at 'Elia' Restaurant and could not have wished for anything more perfect. The room and table were decorated beautifully, so much care, time and effort had been put into it so special thanks to Louise and Pia who were responsible for making it so perfect. The food was out of this world, the quantity and quality was excellent and it was extremely good value for money and this was the case with all the food produced at 'Elia'. The staff were very attentive and this was not solely exclusive to our wedding reception. Every member of the team at Island Blue is helpful, polite, cheerful and accommodating, nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for them. I would especially like to mention Louise who is Guest relations at the hotel. She is thoughtful, kind and caring and added so many extra little touches (which she did not have to do) that made our wedding day so special...like decorating the golf buggy which drove us around to get some stunning photographs. So if anybody is thinking of getting married in Rhodes or looking for somewhere to hold their reception I strongly recommend they speak to Louise. I know this is not a wedding review site but I just wanted to emphasise how wonderful the staff at Island Blue really are. The hotel is well situated with only a short walk to the beach and resort centre. We have never stayed anywhere that has such a vast amount of excellent restaurants, too many to name but a couple of our favourites were Nostalgia, Philosophia (beautiful food and sunsets) and Kavos Taverna for a lunchtime salad and cold Mythos!! All in all our trip to Rhodes/Island Blue was wonderful and it was the perfect setting for our wedding celebrations. We certainly did not want to leave and we definately want to return...hopefully for our 1st anniversary.
