“"Perfect Weddingmoon location"”
Reviewed September 30, 2011

My husband and I have recently returned from a 2 week stay at Island Blue, Pefkos. We chose Island Blue as it looked like the perfect place to spend our wedding/honeymoon. We were not dissappointed...from the moment we arrived we knew that we had made the right decision. We were taken to our room by golf buggy which was a pleasant surprise, it also meant no lugging suitcases round the complex...the golf buggy would feature again later in our stay! Our room was modern, spacious and clean (a lovely space to get ready on my special day), there was a tv and full size fridge (with a complimentary bottle of water) the bathroom was a good size and had a brilliant shower...and a hairdryer (always a plus...less weight in the suitcase), the towels were changed every day and the bedding every other if required, there were also extra blankets if you wanted them. Air con was also included which was a welcome addition. We were on the groundfloor which had a large terrace area with a table and chairs and a clothes airer. We stayed on a B&B basis and there was plenty of choice on the breakfast buffet, something for everyone. The grounds and pool areas were kept immaculate and again there was something for everyone with a choice of the quieter adults pool or the livelier 'kostas' pool bar if you fancied a bit more fun. The purpose of our trip to Rhodes was our wedding at St Pauls Bay, Lindos (which incidently was amazing!). We held our wedding reception at 'Elia' Restaurant and could not have wished for anything more perfect. The room and table were decorated beautifully, so much care, time and effort had been put into it so special thanks to Louise and Pia who were responsible for making it so perfect. The food was out of this world, the quantity and quality was excellent and it was extremely good value for money and this was the case with all the food produced at 'Elia'. The staff were very attentive and this was not solely exclusive to our wedding reception. Every member of the team at Island Blue is helpful, polite, cheerful and accommodating, nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for them. I would especially like to mention Louise who is Guest relations at the hotel. She is thoughtful, kind and caring and added so many extra little touches (which she did not have to do) that made our wedding day so special...like decorating the golf buggy which drove us around to get some stunning photographs. So if anybody is thinking of getting married in Rhodes or looking for somewhere to hold their reception I strongly recommend they speak to Louise. I know this is not a wedding review site but I just wanted to emphasise how wonderful the staff at Island Blue really are. The hotel is well situated with only a short walk to the beach and resort centre. We have never stayed anywhere that has such a vast amount of excellent restaurants, too many to name but a couple of our favourites were Nostalgia, Philosophia (beautiful food and sunsets) and Kavos Taverna for a lunchtime salad and cold Mythos!! All in all our trip to Rhodes/Island Blue was wonderful and it was the perfect setting for our wedding celebrations. We certainly did not want to leave and we definately want to return...hopefully for our 1st anniversary.

My wife, my 22 months old child and my parents in law stayed at the Island Blue Hotel in Pefkos for 8 nights starting from 3rd of September 2011 on bed and breakfast basis. I went there by my own car, so I stopped outside the room for my luggage, however I can confirm that the other guests were taken to their rooms by the golf buggy. I must say that I was not impressed by the reception, since we were just told about the number of our room without any other information given. I must say that Mrs. Kasdovasili was by far better than the english receptionists. I understand that the main audience of the hotel is english tourists (we are Greeks) and they probably feel relaxed with an english welcome, however I firmly believe that only a greek person can give you the right welcome and taste of Greece, let alone the fact that a greek receptionist can deal with problems that may come up during your vacation with a baby boy.
The best feature of the hotel was the room. Magnificent, clean and really large and spacious! We had booked and apartment with two rooms and a kitchen. I confirm that each room had its own bathroom, the kitchen was convenient and had anything you may need, there was a small sitiing room, as well as a spacious terrace in front of the room with table and four chairs. The swimming pools had room for everyone, you could find an umbrella and chair even at eleven o'clock and the sea (sandy, warm and clean even during windy weather) was just a 6 minutes stroll away. The breakfast -although typical english- had it all. The hotel is really new and everything seems at its best. The hotel is addressed to families since swimming pools and the respective bars close at seven o'clock p.m. and everything is absolutely quiet and peacefull at night. So, it's a suitable hotel for familes, do not come alone. The Pefkos village is a good place to stay near Lindos and Rhodes i just outstanding.
All in all, it's an excellent hotel appropriate for families with young children, clean with spacious rooms, which is also value for money since it deserves more than its rating, especially compared to other hotels in Greece.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment if you are an extended family. You won't regret it.

My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous 2 week stay at the Island Blue on a B&B basis. This was our 4th visit to Pefkos in 5 years, previously staying in the sister hotels - Lyndia Thalassa and Pefki Island and we will definitely be going back again next year.

The standard of accommodation for Greece is, in our opinion, fantastic; the rooms are spacious, clean and simply, but well furnished. There is plenty of storage and a small area with full size fridge and kettle. The bathroom is also a really good size and very well equipped.

Although a lot of reviews recommend opting for a ground floor room with terrace, we much prefer having a balcony so emailed the hotel in advance of our stay and requested a top floor room – although requests like this cannot be guaranteed Katarina (reception/reservations) came up trumps for us and we were allocated a room on the 3rd floor which was extremely large and private and the balcony was a perfect place for relaxing with a late night drink.

This hotel has so much going for it and there are also nice touches such as golf buggies to take your luggage to the room, a free bottle of water and wine in the fridge on arrival and a voucher for a free bottle of wine when dining in the Elia restaurant.

The hotel is perfectly located and is only a gentle 10 minute walk to the centre of the resort. There’s a great selection of restaurants to chose from but our favourites are Philosophia (slightly more expensive than the rest but fantastic food and wine in a fabulous setting) and Kavos Mare (traditional taverna in a beautiful setting specialising in fresh fish – rustic but with a modern twist).
Although we love Pefkos and the Island Blue, there are just a couple niggles which won’t put us off returning next year but may do in the future. Firstly, the hotel has become really popular for weddings and as a result attracts quite large groups of people. On our first day, we found what we thought to be two ‘quiet’ sunbeds at the end of a row only to find that an hour later, we were surrounded by a party of 12 who had moved sunbeds from the far side of the pool to be together. Naturally, when you get groups of this size, things get quite noisy and we were right in the middle of it. Also, although there are signs regarding not reserving sunbeds, this was just ignored and towels were down at each pool every day and on one occasion we spotted 2 white hotel towels which had clearly been used to reserve sunbeds all morning whist the couple went to the beach and didn’t return until 1pm.

Thomson’s also need to be a little more honest with their description of the hotel as in the brochure for 2012 it makes no mention of the hotel being part of a group of hotels and the ability to use the pools/facilities at the other complexes. Anyone expecting a small complex should be made aware that the pool is open for others from sister sites to use.

Our top tip – hire a car and spend a night in Rhodes Town. We booked a B&B (Attiki) online and had 2 fabulous nights there. Once the cruise ships have left town, it is a truly memorable experience. We will definitely be doing this again.

Overall a fantastic holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms face the pool but if you want instant access to the pool area, choose a ground floor room...

We have just returned from the Isalnd Blue hotel and as the title it was magic.
The hotel is spotless. As a previous review were too were taken to our room by golf buggy no struggling with luggage etc and wow what a room it had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with a kitchenette which was very handy the bathrooms were fantastic with superb showers cubicles no messy shower curtains!! Even the tv had english channels never known that before.
The restaurant was lovely and the food excellent and was very reasonably priced the drinks too were inexpensive in fact they were cheaper than some of the resort restaurants.
The pools were lovely and never had a problem getting sunbeds which is a definite bonus.
All the staff were very friendly and made you feel very welcome nothing was too much trouble.
All in all a wonderful place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone. I f you are thinking of going to this hotel just one thing GO you will not be disappointed . Wish we could go back tomorrow !!

We stayed at the Island Blue for two weeks at the beginning of September - what an amazing fortnight! We would defy anyone to find fault with the place! The staff were very hard working, pleasant and always cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotlessly clean. Towels changed daily and bedding every other day. There was no need to leave the complex at all if you didnt want to - your every need was met on the site. The pool bars and the restaurant were excellent and good value. We would most certainly stay at this hotel again and recommend it one hundred per cent for couples, families, everyone.

Room Tip: Pick a ground floor poolside.

Our stay at the Island Blue hotel was amazing, we could not have expected our holiday to be any better. To start with, when we arrived we were surprised by been escorted to our room on a golf buggy along wth our luggage which was a nice but unexpected welcome. The room was fantastic with plenty of space and the maids came and cleaned our room without fail every single day, we even got fresh towels almost everyday, even though we had hung them up as they did not require changing. We stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast buffett was good with a wide variety of different types of breakfast foods and it was open until 10:30 so you didnt have to get up too early. The beach was a very short walk away through the Sister hotel Linda Thasala resort and was very clean. despite the beach been quite narrow we always managed to get a sunbed with an umbrella at the cost of 4 euro per sunbed, however the man did not come round to collect the fee everyday. The main strip of pekos was about a 5 minute walk away meaning the hotel is far away enough not to hear all the noise, but near enough that it is easy to get to.We had a brilliant holiday and would definatly stay at this hotel again!

Room Tip: All Rooms over look the pool!
